Hello everyone,
I (25M) have been with my girlfriend (24F) for a bit more than a year. We're both quite relaxed and have often discussed how we don't need material things to make each other happy. We've always valued experiences and small gestures over expensive gifts.
Last week was her birthday. Between work stress and some personal issues, it completely slipped my mind until the day of. Panicking, I remembered our conversations about valuing simple gestures. So, when I saw her, I greeted her with a big smile, gave her a crisp high five, a firm handshake, pulled her into a warm hug, and said, "Happy Birthday! Here's to another year of us!"
She looked a bit surprised and asked if I had anything else planned. I reminded her of our talks about not needing material gifts and thought she'd appreciate the gesture. She got quiet and left shortly after.
The next day, she called me, clearly upset, saying that my lack of effort made her feel unimportant and that I didn't care about her. I tried to explain my thought process, but she wasn't having it. She ended up breaking up with me, stating that my actions showed I didn't value her.
I genuinely thought I was honoring our mutual understanding and didn't think she'd want anything extravagant. Was I really in the wrong here?

I am a 17-year-old boy, I have been on treatments for 3 years, I had doxycycline, adapalene, benzoyl peroxide and others, but none of them worked, and since August of last year I have been on isotretinoin treatment, and I have seen better changes, but I have I have some doubts and I would like someone who has already undergone the treatment to help me. Is it normal that after approximately 6 months my face looks very good one day and looks very bad another day and remains like this? Does isotretinoin eliminate the acne spots I have? And if not, what treatments should I use? Do I have to use sunscreen while still in my room? At what point does my face start to be "stable" or does it stop having so many changes from being good to bad? Also if someone could give me a good routine (with specific products please) for Accutane, since I think mine is not working, it would help me a lot. thank you very much to who reads and wants to help me, and sorry if my English is not very good, I am a native Spanish

Hi everyone!
I was wondering what people would consider to be expected of someone with about 3-4 YOE (and an MS degree) in a new role? I am curious because I am considering leaving my current company, but I feel a little bit behind in my technical skills due to the fact that my current job is half technical and half managerial.
I know this is a really broad question and probably hard to answer, but here are some questions that might help in answering:
- What does an average day look like for you?
- What does an average task/ticket look like for you?
- What kind of leadership are you expected to perform and what kind of mentorship do you receive?
- How difficult are the tasks you are given, and could you provide an example of what you mean?
- How often do you ask for help, and what sorts of things might you need help with?
- How often do you collaborate directly with others (like pair programming)?
- Anything else you can add that might be helpful?
I feel pretty comfortable with my ability to "logic" my way through code, but don't have as much experience with things like infrustracture, networking, devops, integration with tools/libraries with little documentation.
I've been told that if I get a new job, I will have time to learn and that my new managers/team will help me learn, but my fear is getting a new job and bombing so bad I immediately get let go.
I also have fears about interviewing, but at least it is pretty straight forward to me how to prep for that. I am not really sure how to prep for the job itself, and what I should prepare myself for.
