Hi everyone. I (21 F) have a friend (22 F) who just got married in October of 2024, we will call her Destiny. I was actually supposed to be her maid of honor but was “down graded” to a bridesmaid because of a really bad depression I was going through in the hight of the planning for the wedding. It was triggered by a falling out with another friend of mine who I considered my “best friend” at the time, we will call her Crystal. Honestly, I think a lot of decisions made in the planning process of this wedding were made to hurt me because I hurt Destiny with my unfiltered thoughts and feelings about Crystal, like calling her my “best friend”. And always ranting about the situation when it was time to talk wedding details.
In reality, Destiny and I had been really close all through high school, and had considered each other to be one another’s “person”. We always talked about our weddings, children names, and our futures with each other in grave detail. But we kinda got distant over Covid and that’s when I started getting close with Crystal, who was apart of our friend group in HS.
Flash forward to a few months before the wedding, and Destiny calls me to give me an update on wedding planning. I’m expecting her to say the colors will be red and black like we had always talked about. Since reds, golds, and black were her favorite colors. I guess you can say I was shocked when the words “forest green” came out of her mouth. I held my tongue and spoke nothing but support for the rest of the call, but when I hung up I broke down. Dark forest green has been my favorite color for as long as I could remember and have always dreamt of it being my main wedding color. I was crushed… I never said anything, and the wedding went just as I imagined mine would. Grooms men in dark green and black suits, vines hanging all around, twinkle lights in the forest. Everything I had ever pinned on my Pinterest wall since I was 12 yo was staring me in the face. Crushed, but I held it in. I knew this day wasn’t about me, so I just tried to have a good time.
And now, I have a sneaking suspicion my partner is going to propose soon. We are getting to a place in life where we are starting to talk about more luxuries instead of basic needs for survival, and I’m horrified. I still dream of my forest wedding. I dream of my dark green wedding dress, and the table toppers, I think of the vines and the bridesmaid dresses. But then it turns into a nightmare thinking about how I can loose another friend over the color green.
I don’t have very many friends since my previous falling out made it really hard to trust people. I cut a lot of people out of my life. I moved 2,500 miles away from home to start over, but I keep in touch with a couple friends including Destiny. Who I still consider one of my best friends and I would love for her to be in my wedding when that day comes, but would I be an asshole if I used the same color(s)?

 | Finished my HG Ghirarga! It was a quick and easy build, but some of the pieces are a bit finicky and can be hard to pose. After air brushing it I used the RG Sasabi and Epyon water slides to finish it off. My head cannon is that this isn’t even the Ghirarga, but rather an alternate universe Epyon. Loved this series when I picked it up a year ago. But I made it about halfway through volume one before DNFing. As much as I loved the setting and the characters (especially Erin), I could not endure more Ryoka… The thought that almost 1/4 of this series’ POVs are hers sounds like actual torture… (and I didn’t think I was patient enough to endure it for when she becomes “bearable” 5,000 pages later… there are some fantasy series as a whole that aren’t even that long…)
But, given a year away, I thought back and really missed Erin and the inn. So I returned and loved being back. But after reading a couple hundred more pages… gods I don’t think I can do it still. Ryoka is just too much. (I don’t know if I’ve ever disliked a character more) Like is it actually doable to skip her chapters? I know that idea is sacrilegious to fans, and that I might be confused by lots of stuff, but at this point I’d be okay with being confused… I just really don’t want to DNF again, as I want to spend more time with Erin. 😭
