Hey lads,
Currently 17 and just started an apprenticeship and trying to sort out my shit for the future. Lucky enough that I'm still with my parents and have relatively little expense's at the moment but still a bit concerned about tryna save money and set myself up on apprentice wage.
Are there any grants, allowances, etc. for apprentices from the gov or companies that are useful or can help out?
Have any of you's been able to buy a even a shitty house during your apprenticeship?
Would ya say living on apprentice wage is really as bad as they say? I consider myself to be pretty good with money but still find myself taking a bit of a hit.
If ya got anything else that would be useful to know I'd be happy to hear it.

Bought 4 sets of Frontgate towels, super plush and soft. They are now super rough, I'm not sure how to get them back to where they were. I use Persil liquid at half the amount the washer container says, no softener ever, wash in either cold or medium, dry on low. I've tried using vinegar followed by baking soda. If anything they are worse. Help!

Hello all, i (22m) made a post earlier about being a week sober today and that’s something i’m quite proud of. I’m still quite new in navigating this whole sobriety thing and as such, i haven’t quite worked out the kinks of stress management and how to handle when i’m not feeling the best. I’m now just beginning to put the pieces of my life back together and i have been tackling every day head on. I’ve been dreading this step but today it was time to itemize all my (mostly late) bills. For the past several years whenever i get that crippling tightness of anxiety in my chest i grab a drink no matter where i am or what time it is. Today i did the exact same thing i always have. i went to the liquor store and grabbed a case of beer, except this time it was non alcoholic! i’m obviously not thrilled that i’m 2 months behind on my car payment but i found a big victory in not caving to my habits. I worked through my finances and found a way to dig myself out of this hole instead of drinking until i forgot about my problems. looking forward to a bright and sober future. cheers guys!

When I was 16-18, I got a job at a hospital working in an Admissions Department. I handled a lot of insurance papers, legal documents m, Applications, Trainings, and handling some patient care. This hospital was pretty known for a bad reputation, especially among high-schoolers. I went to a trade job/high school for Nursing. This job was the closest to me. It had a nice outer shell, but it was almost hell when it was more revealed the type of job I was working.
I typically did some nice 10-6 shifts. Afterschool I would do a 3-8 shift. However it ramped up when I was then asked/expected to do a 16 hour shift. Almost everyday at 5:30-6 AM, I was called and asked to work a double shift that day. Sometimes I just ignored the calls but they started to get more frequent and irritable. These people were 35+ asking a teenager to take this on, while in school.
I often got threats and notices that they would tell my school how badly I was doing if I didn’t comply with things. I very quickly started to experience burnout from both school and my job, along with a second job I was working part-time. My performance plummeted. I was very sick often with headaches and body pain.
I spent about 100$ every week just to travel to work, had no time to even spend the rest. It was minimum wage, either way.
This got to the point where I was hospitalized for a couple months just because of how overwhelmed I was and had no intention of lifting myself back up.
As of right now, I am taking my time to regain my balance and find out who I am as a person after spending a long time caught between to huge responsibilities as a teenager. A couple of high-ranking people in that place got fired from their jobs because of workers rights violations. I hope it burns. The only thing I loved about that job was my patients..
