I have my abdominal ultrasound booked this week .I know from the abdominal pain /alcohol use that it’s likely my results won’t be optimal i am just hoping it’s at the stage where it can still be reversed not sure what I will do if I have permanently damaged my liver ,pancreas etc I would be so grateful if anyone could give tips on how to reduce the anxious feeling that comes with having scans done .i know distracting myself is the best thing but the idea of having the scan /hearing the results is incredibly anxiety inducing.i know the results are not in my control now and I can only remain positive.

The city glows under a blanket of neon lights, the hum of traffic a distant murmur. Mt. Lady and Mineta patrol a quieter district, the air thick with the scent of rain. Mineta trudges behind her, his uniform slightly too big, his face shadowed by exhaustion.*
Mt. Lady:(glancing back) “Quit dragging your feet, Grape Juice. You’re supposed to be a hero, not a zombie.”
Mineta:(muttering) “Heroes get sleep. I’ve been scrubbing your apartment for hours”
Mt. Lady:(smirking) “Whining already? And here I thought you were turning over a new leaf.”
They pass a dimly lit park, where a stray cat darts into the bushes. Mineta hesitates, watching it disappear.
Mineta: (quietly) “Do you ever feel like… no matter what you do, people only see the worst in you?”
Mt. Lady: (pausing, her tone sharp) “What’s with the emo act? Save it for your diary.”
Mineta:(blurting out) “I’m serious! Everyone thinks I’m just some pervy joke. Even after the rescue, they’re like, ‘Oh, he got lucky.’ Like I’m not even human!”
Mt. Lady stops, her towering figure casting a long shadow. She crosses her arms, studying him.*
Mt. Lady: “You think you’re the only one who gets judged? Try being a woman in this industry. Half the comments on my hero page are about my ‘assets,’ not my skills.”
Mineta:(flinching) “That’s… not the same.”
Mt. Lady:(snapping) “Isn’t it? You think I don’t know what it’s like to be reduced to one thing? At least you chose to be a creep. I didn’t choose to be a damn pin-up.”
Mineta looks down, his fists clenched. The weight of her words hangs in the air.*
Scene 2: The Rooftop Confession
They climb to the roof of a nearby building to survey the area. The city sprawls below, a sea of flickering lights. Mineta sits on the edge, legs dangling, while Mt. Lady leans against a vent, arms crossed.*
Mineta: (breaking the silence) “I didn’t… choose to be like this, you know. It’s not like I woke up one day and thought, ‘Hey, let’s be the class pervert!’”
Mt. Lady: (raising an eyebrow) “Then what’s your excuse?”
Mineta: (voice trembling) “I just… wanted people to notice me. My quirk’s not flashy like Bakugo’s or cool like Todoroki’s. I’m just… sticky. So I acted out. Made jokes. Did stupid stuff. And now… no one takes me seriously, even when I try.”
Mt. Lady sighs, her expression softening slightly. She sits beside him, her giant frame making the roof creak.
Mt. Lady:“You think I don’t get it? I became a hero to prove I was more than just a pretty face. But no matter how many villains I take down, they still call me ‘Mt. Fanservice.’”
Mineta: (glancing at her) “But you’re… you. You’re strong, confident. You don’t care what people think.” Mt. Lady: (laughing bitterly) “Confident? Kid, I’ve got a closet full of insecurities. I just don’t let ‘em see me sweat.”
They sit in silence, the city’s hum filling the void. Mineta picks at a loose thread on his sleeve.
Mineta: (softly) “Do you think… I can ever be more than this? More than the guy everyone laughs at?”
Mt. Lady: (leaning back, staring at the sky) “Depends. Are you willing to put in the work? Real change doesn’t happen overnight.” Mineta: (nodding) “I… I want to try.”
Mt. Lady smirks, ruffling his hair roughly.*
Mt. Lady:“Good. ‘Cause if you screw this up, I’m tossing you off this roof.”
Scene 3: Class 1-A’s Late-Night Chat
Back at the dorms, the class lounges in the common room. The TV plays a muted news report about Mt. Lady’s recent patrols. Midoriya scribbles in his notebook, while Bakugo glares at the screen.
Bakugo: (muttering) “Why’s the damn grape getting so much airtime?”
Kirishima: (stretching on the couch) “Dude, he saved a kid. That’s kinda heroic, right?”
Mina:(curled up in a beanbag) “Yeah, but it’s still Mineta. I can’t picture him as, like, a serious hero.”
Uraraka: (sipping tea) “People can change. Maybe this is his turning point.”
Jiro: (plugged into her phone) “Doubt it. He’s probably just trying to impress Mt. Lady.”
Todoroki: (calmly) “Motivation doesn’t negate action. If he continues to act heroically, his intentions are irrelevant.”
Kaminari:(unexpectedly serious) “Hey, cut him some slack. He’s trying, okay? That’s more than most of us can say.” The room falls silent, everyone turning to stare at Kaminari.
Mina:(blinking) “Wait, you’re defending him?”
Kaminari: (shrugging, but his tone is firm) “Yeah, I am. Look, I get it—he’s done some sketchy stuff. But haven’t we all messed up? I mean, I’ve short-circuited my brain more times than I can count. If people only judged me for that, I’d never get anywhere.”
Toru: (giggling) “But you’re, like, funny when you short-circuit. Mineta’s just… Mineta.”
Kaminari: (frowning) “That’s not the point. The point is, he’s trying to do better. Isn’t that what being a hero’s about?”
Midoriya: (nodding) “Kaminari’s right. Everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves.”
Bakugo: (snarling) “Tch. Don’t get soft on me, Dunce Face. The grape’s still a loser.”
Kaminari: (grinning) “Maybe. But even losers can win sometimes.”
Scene 4: The Paparazzi Ambush
The next morning, Mineta and Mt. Lady leave her apartment. Flashbulbs explode as reporters swarm them.
Reporter 1: “Mt. Lady! Is it true you’re mentoring Mineta as part of a PR stunt?”
Reporter 2: “Mineta! How does it feel to be labeled a ‘redemption project’?”
Mt. Lady:(gritting her teeth) “Back off, vultures. We’re on duty.”
Mineta:(panicking, hiding behind her) “Uh, no comment!”
A tabloid journalist shoves a microphone in his face.
Journalist: “Rumor has it you’re romantically involved. Care to comment?”
Mineta: (blushing furiously) “W-What?! No! That’s—”
Mt. Lady: (snatching the mic) “Next person who asks a stupid question gets a faceful of giant fist. Move it!”
She grabs Mineta’s collar, dragging him through the crowd. He stumbles, his face burning.
Mineta:(muttering) “Why do they always assume the worst?”
Mt. Lady:(grimly) “Because bad news sells. Get used to it.”
Scene 5: The Rooftop Promise That night, they return to the rooftop. The city lights shimmer like stars. Mineta stares at his hands, still trembling from the paparazzi ambush.
Mineta:(quietly) “I don’t know if I can do this. The pressure… it’s too much.”
Mt. Lady: (leaning on the railing) “You think I don’t feel it? Every day, I’m one misstep away from being canceled. But you know what keeps me going?”
Mineta:(looking up) “What?”
Mt. Lady:(smirking) “Proving them wrong. Every time they doubt me, I come back stronger. You wanna be a hero? Then stop whining and start fighting.”
Mineta hesitates, then nods, his resolve hardening.
Mineta:“Okay. I’ll… I’ll prove it. To them. To you. To myself.” Mt. Lady: (ruffling his hair) “Atta boy, Grape Juice. Now let’s get back to work.”

I’ve recently received a job offer from a Fortune 100 company for a Compliance OfficeMLRO role, with a salary of AED 37,000 (~$10,100) per month. The role offers significant learning and growth potential, as my managers and team have extensive experience, and the company is obviously a global powerhouse. However, I’d be the only compliance person in the Middle East office with some colleagues from different departments, while the rest of my team is based in the UK, meaning all communication would be virtual.
I’m currently 28 years old and still have a lot to learn, I wouldn't consider myself an expert yet. My current company is publicly listed but mostly family-owned, however, while there is room for growth and learning, the pace has been very slow. I’m extremely comfortable here with a great team. When I informed them about my offer, they countered by promoting me to Senior Compliance Specialist ( it was already in the pipeline) and increasing my salary from AED 28,000 to AED 42,000 (~$11,400).
My main concern is learning and development. My current manager has assured me that I’ll have an open budget for training and development, but I’m struggling with how certifications alone would translate into retaining knowledge without hands-on technical implementation.
I’d love to hear from more experienced folks, what would you do in my position? The global exposure and brand name of the Fortune 100 company are tempting, but my current role is comfortable with strong support for growth. I feel stuck on a pedestal, unable to make a decision.
