I saw a short on YouTube recently on this and was gonna comment on it, but there's already way too many comments for it to get any discussion in.
So I will say that I understand why Joel saved Ellie, I do. But let's not pretend he went through the critical thinking process.
A lot of people say things like
"Well, the vaccine might not work"
"They already tested with other subjects"
"How can they produce more vaccines?"
See, my issue with all of this is that Joel did not think of any of that, or did not care.
His immediate response once he learned what was gonna happen was "Find someone else"
He didn't say "That won't work"
Also, keep in mind some of this info he did not learn until after he decided to kill everyone.
Also, Joel is not an expert in vaccines or any of this sort. He himself admits that he never had a mind for these sort of things. Also, keep in mind he had no idea how capable the Fireflies actually were. Joel only got to explore their headquarters AFTER he started killing them.
So I always feel like people giving these arguments are giving Joel way too much credit. Joel doesn't have all the information WE have on vaccines, or the Fireflies WHEN he makes the decision.
Imagine if someone tried to shoot you, and they didn't know the gun was empty. Would you really be like "Well, no harm done"
At best, you could say he thought of all of this AFTER the fact.
But the kicker? Even if the vaccine was a 100% guarantee and the Fireflies could mass produce it. Joel did not care about that.
Can you honestly say that if Joel was guaranteed that the vaccine was gonna work with evidence, he would have just walked away?
If the Fireflies provided concrete evidence that would convince YOU that the vaccine was gonna work and save the world, that Joel was gonna be like "Ok"?

I think he has some valid point albeit his messy thought process.

I am 19F who currently took my first drop year for the NEET examination.One day after I finished my coaching classes and I was waiting for a bus, a random dude stopped his vehicle (bike) on the main road and asked me “Akka do you have 150 Rs,I need to reach my office”. I told him that I’m waiting for a bus and that I didn’t carry any cash.Then he continued to ask me if I had gpay or phone pay which I told I didn’t have (I actually didn’t have gpay or phone pay).Then he left.
I feel bad that I couldn’t help him or was he just trying to scam me.I’m unsure.Any opinions?

Following this morning’s news of layoffs at Ubisoft I wanted to bring into perspective how insanely huge the company really is. Just take a look at this table comparing employee numbers of top 5 video game publishers (slightly outdated now). The only company bigger than Ubisoft is Microsoft Gaming and that includes Bethesda, Activision, and Blizzard. EA, Sony, and Take-Two all have significantly fewer employees.
At the same time, if you look at financial data, Ubisoft had the lowest revenue out of those 5 companies in 2024. Net income also, while in the green, was a very slim margin of revenue.
I feel awful for all the developers affected by the layoffs. Hope all of them can find new jobs in the industry soon. But the simple fact of the matter remains that Ubisoft is just too damn big. And the games they are releasing don’t earn nearly enough to justify this amount of input into the workforce. If the company wants to have any chance of surviving, they will need to further downsize. As sad as it is, more layoffs will follow.

I don´t care about the thinness or weight, just not 10Kg.

I prefer Bigger screens with an 80% Keyboard, and around 15,6 inches.

A good keyboard, good build quality, touchscreen is nice but don´t need it, fingerprint is not needed, optical drive isn´t needed, a touchpad that can scroll or in general be uses with two fingers is preffered

I think what´s left to say is that I look for a Laptop which is quick and holds up with a second screen and a Video call. Has a 80% Keyboard and is from a company that builds good Laptops (name brand not needed).

2025.01.27 19:20 thedesolategoon I had a friend selling a home bar, but I realized it could work as a DJ practice workspace!
 | I pretty much just placed the bar backwards against the brick wall, on the top section I have all of my MIDI controllers, then I tucked my amplifier underneath to save some space.
