Hi everyone, a long viewer but first time poster.
I work in a small educational non-profit and have been director since November. Technically, I had the same role and responsibilities for a year before the promotion and had to ask publicly several times for it. The promotion was actually a prison gift and I’ve been ordered to work 12 hour days regularly on new projects with no overtime or Flex Time.
I reached my limit and put my resignation in one month in advance to give the organization time to fill the role. However, I’m getting bullied by my CEO who I directly report to. They are saying director positions cannot quit like this and I need to stay longer until they can fill it. Are they right? I think I’m giving more than enough time but concerned I will now lose the reference for a place I have worked close to 5 years at

Belle: Book Loft isn’t available in body care so I had to go with my second choice- anything with Rose. Ariel: Easy. Tiana: MY GIRL. Growing up in New Orleans, I was stoked for us to have a princess. She’s one of the most hardworking genuine characters in all of Disney. Sadly, there’s no “Beignet Powder” scent and WVS is the closest. Rapunzel: She exudes everything pastel. Hello all, I'm in a bit of a bind and would like some helpful input, suggestions or even some guidance. This is a long post, I wanted to add as much detail as possible, so please bare with me.
I entered the US in 2011 via F1 status. After 4 years, I married a USC, who then filed for AOS for me. During our 2nd year of marriage, some family medical emergency occurred that forced us to temporarily live apart, 2 hrs apart to be exact. During our initial interview, we mentioned this and that seemed to have set off marriage fraud suspicious etc, which made our case more complicated despite showing a mountain of evidence etc. Lots of mistakes made on USCIS part and our mistake was not hiring an attorney to advocate for us when certain lines were crossed etc. This case went on for 6 years before we finally got a decision. This was after 3 interviews and horrible treatment by the 3rd officer who had actually asked me to bring more evidence such as text messages, call records and records of me visiting my husband and vice versa etc. She basically met me outside the office and didn't care to see any of the stuff she had asked me to bring and proceeded to accuse us of marriage fraud. This angered my husband and he brought it up to a supervisor at the next interview and the officer lied boldly that she never did such a thing. You can only imagine my shock to hear this bold lie come out of a USCIS officer's mouth.
Outside of the interviews, the relationship was great until I discovered that my husband was cheating and bring a child into the world with another woman. This was so heartbreaking and I went through alot emotionally and mentally. I couldn't imagine going to another interview because the marriage was over at that point, there was no fixing that. In my depressive state, I ended up calling the officer in charge of our case( she had given me her number to call when she had asked me to bring the specific evidence she wanted) it went to voice-mail and I told her that I'd like her to make a decision on the case and I didn't care if it was a denial, I just wanted a decision. She didn't call me back or make any decision but literally almost 5 months after that call, I got a decision. It was denied.
The reason for denial was : You didn't have a visa available, so your petition was denied.
This reason didn't make any sense as there's always a visa available for USC spouses and LPR spouses.
I hired an attorney to help me with my next options and in order to do that, he had to get the FOIA to see exactly what went wrong and he couldn't believe just how negligent USCIS had been with my case. There was basically nothing in the file, not interview records, there was an approved status in 2018, then there's the denial. He couldn't believe or understand what he was seeing. He literally told me that USCIS didn't do their job and I should have sued. We could have reopened the case based on the denial but I didn't want to be involved in that case or with that person anymore.
After listening to my story, the next option was VAWA and I got to gathering evidence etc, the lawyer was waiting for me to send one more thing before he could file the VAWA application and I ended up getting proposed to that weekend. I informed him about the news and he advised me to wait and file for adjustment of status once I got married as filing for VAWA would mean I can't remarry for atleast 2- 4 years etc.
Anyway, I finally got married in September and now we are looking at how to go about applying for AOS. I'm a bit scared as I'm still traumatized by my last experience. My husband and I live in the same city that I had my interviews at and I'm scared to go back to that office. I feel like the same mistakes could be made and my case could end up with the lying officer etc it's just alot of anxiety and I'm delaying the process.
My denial wasn't based on anything negative and as the FOA showed nothing bad noted about me, my ex husband or our marriage. Would it be wise to file a new petition without an attorney? We would love an attorney but right now money is tight, it's all tied up in our new business and also my nursing school tuition is paid out of pocket. The quotes we are getting are $4000-$8000. That is just impossible for us right now. We wouldn't mind waiting but with the new president and his laws ,we really don't want to delay it for much longer. We are thinking of filing on our own but I'm terrified because of what happened without an attorney last time.
Are there any organizations that help at a lower cost or pro Bono attorneys or atleast reduced fees or payment plans? Or any immigration attorneys on here that would offer their insight on if we shouldn't risk applying without an attorney?
