Ok, this is something I've been thinking about for a bit but this particular post is definitely because I'm pissed at the main forum. Apparently, trying to bite Tav is just the worst thing ever and definitely makes him evil. ANYWAY....
I'm not trying to exclude any other women, but I am applying my OWN experience as an AFAB person who still identifies as a woman and has been pregnant and birthed and breastfed 5 of my children.
It just doesn't squick me out at all that Astarion requires blood to exist. Sure, he doesn't HAVE to have "thinking creatures" blood to exist and babies don't HAVE to have breastmilk to exist. The idea of some other creature depending on me for sustenance, after being preggers five times, just doesn't bother me. It doesn't even seem that weird. If we found out tomorrow vampires DO exist and they want to form consensual blood drinking relationships with people, well there would be lines down the street to line up for it. Sure, a vampire bite will hurt (and for the record, I absolutely do not want a vampire to bite me IRL) but breastfeeding can be a pickle of an experience as well, same with pregnancy. My last baby was early, had IV antibiotics, and we spent the next two years fighting thrush together. Most of the time, feeding them felt like crushed glass on my nipples. I'll take a vampire bite for 200, Alex, instead.
So, discussion topic, are AFAB women more accepting of the idea of vampires because they already have come to terms with the idea of a embryo/fetus/baby needing their body to exist?
