Starting this with yes, I have called my surgeon already. They are on lunch and I'm waiting for them to call back lol. Not looking for diagnosis or to be told to go to the doctor. Just looking for similar experiences.
Background- 32F herniated disc in 2022 because my job is extremely physical and it was bound to happen. Did all the things to help naturally heal but here I am in this group 3 days after my L5/S1 MD. I am also a low level risk for blood clots as I had one in October from hormonal birth control. This was cleared and I was off blood thinners before my MD.
What is starting to concern me is that as of today, I am now feeling light headed and somewhat nauseous if I'm standing for more than 10-15mins. Once I lay down, the symptoms start to let up, but creep back in again when I'm standing. I have a general anxiety disorder and it (especially recently) spikes with medical issues. So the fact that this is starting now and not the first 2 days post op has me worried. Because of the blood clot risk, it is important that I get up every 60mins to walk, so I'm confronted with this anxiety every hour or so 🥴
Medications (forgive the spelling) - Ondansetron for nausea once in the morning Hydrocodone 5mg for pain every 4 hours as needed (I've had 1 today 30mins after the ondansetron). Gabapentin 300mg at night before bed
TL;DR - How nauseous or lightheaded were you after your surgery and for how long. Did anything help or just time and sleep?

Hey everyone! I recently have been getting reimbursed less for the same services I regularly make claims for, and I'm looking for advice / understanding on if I am owed more money.
Background
I go to an out-of-network therapist with a rate of $250 / session. I pay my therapist directly, then submit receipts from her to Aetna to track my spending, and get reimbursed via checks in the mail when applicable. In 2024, I hit my out-of-network deductible and out-of-network out-of-pocket max in the first few months. When submitting claims since I hit those, I usually get a full reimbursement of the $250 / session.
Last week, I submitted a claim for my October 2024 sessions, but this time, I only got a partial reimbursement ($192.53 / session). The EOB wasn't illuminating on exactly why my reimbursement rate changed (it said "You may owe this amount. This provider isn't participating in our network. We considered this claim following our policies for non-physician provider types, such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, audiologists and therapy assistants. [Z35]"), so I called for details.
When I called about the latest claim reimbursement amount, they said that $250 is above the Allowable Rate for this service ($192.53), so I do not get reimbursed for the difference. It still didn't explain why the reimbursement amounts were different, and my representative did not know if the Allowable Rate for therapy had changed recently.
I didn't push the subject further because now I'm worried that getting the full reimbursements before was an error in my favor, and didn't want to end up with more unexpected bills.
My Questions
- Is there a way to check what Aetna's Allowable Rates are for services online in general, so that I don't make this same mistake again? I've tried searching for info on this but no luck so far.
- I think maybe they decreased their allowable rate from 2024 to 2025 which may account for the change since I submitted the claim in 2025. Is there some way I can see if the rate changed recently? And if this is the case, since the services were in 2024, do I have a leg to stand on to argue for a full reimbursement at the 2024 allowable rate?
My insurance info, for convenience:
- Health Insurance provider: Aetna Choice POS II (purchased through my employer)
- Out-of-Network Deductible: $3,000 -- I met that in the spring 2024
- Out-of-Network Out of Pocket Max: $4,000 -- I met that in the summer 2024
