Hello, I am a disgruntled long-time player, and I’m now pretty much over Squad, but I wish to rant.
For those curious, I have thousands of hours in Squad and have been involved with the community at all levels—tryhard “competitive” player, admin, server management, and I was even a short-lived server owner. I’ve been part of multiple different kinds of communities, from tiny to massive. Most of my experiences are from the EU, and while I don’t know exactly how it is in NA, from my perspective, it seems similar—even if I’m not aware of the drama behind the scenes over there.
The practice of mass recruiting that larger communities engage in is hurting the game. By recruiting anyone with a pulse, they can seed and populate servers, but they do nothing to teach players how to actually play the game. As a result, we end up with a watered-down product. That said, I understand why they do this—a community that doesn’t seed will slowly die. In my opinion, if you’re a new player, you should join a smaller community to learn the game and meet great players with real passion for it—not the guys who only see you as a statistic.
The large communities are honestly ruining the game, as they have become too big to fail and are actively killing smaller servers. These larger communities pressure smaller ones to shut down their servers by offering whitelist spots for their members if they close their own servers. Smaller communities already have it hard enough, and these offers eliminate competition. How would I solve this? Honestly, it’s a tall order, but my best guess is limiting the number of servers a single community can own to 1–2. This would neutralize the advantage of big communities and shift the focus to who offers the best experience, not who populates the server first.
ICO is definitely overhated, but it was still a net negative for the game. Yes, the game needed a massive rework, but it was (and still is, to some extent) overdone. The worst part of ICO is that it drove away so many veterans who never got to share their skills with the community. As a result, the overall skill level of the entire community has massively dropped since pre-ICO.
Squad’s map pool is terrible, with fewer than half of the maps being “good.” This has made the game super repetitive—you just end up rotating the same maps over and over. Even the devs agreed that most maps are poorly designed when I’ve spoken to them about it. A massive effort is needed to rework current maps or add new ones.
A lot of servers have adopted “ticket-only” admining. Essentially, admins do nothing unless you open a ticket on their Discord—even if you ping them directly in-game. I can’t count how many times someone has stolen a claim because admins were unresponsive. I shouldn’t have to join your Discord server just to get an admin’s attention when they’re already in-game. That’s not admining—it’s coasting. Most servers are infested with rule breakers and trolls, but since it takes so much effort to get an admin, players often just let them ruin the experience.
I also find it hilarious how some people try to dictate how others should play—like they have any idea how the game is “meant” to be played. If you want to play optimally, go join the “competitive” scene, and you’ll quickly realize you’ve been playing “wrong” the whole time. I’ll save my rant about the “competitive” gameplay and how it shows the failures of ICO for another post.

2025.01.27 19:40 Flexifools Thoughts and feedback on acoustic totum

Hey guys. I am starting to build some bespoke acoustic totums for work. This is my first main prototype which I would like some feedback on. The build is a solid rockwool centre in a wood frame wrapped in foam with an acoustic wall tile hiding the gubbins at the back. Then a custom fabric wrap around it. Things to improve for next time I have found... The wrap needs another layer so the outer layer can be a stretchy material so it shows less marks when you poke it. Better hiding of the seams on the top which I think I could easily achieve. Things I would specificly like feedback on... Weight! This thing is a good 20/25 kg, I am thinking thinner wood and a substitute to rockwool. Acoustic properties! It's good at its job in the RT 60 measurements I have made but I feel it can be better, any suggestions of other materials would be appreciated. 2025.01.27 19:40 Due_Gap_2461 Worse at 6 months? Any hope for improvement over the next 6?

Hi everyone. I posted an update in my other thread but thought I’d start a new one to ask if anyone who still didn’t have good results from Aviclear at 6 months eventually had their skin clear up? The process has been awful. My skin flared awful from the second treatment to about 3 months post. Then started to clear up for about a month. Now the acne has come back, my barrier is messed up despite no change to my skin care and I am crying thinking I wasted over $4000 for my skin to look worse than when I started. Definitely have more active acne and all the scarring from the aviclear breakouts. I’ve been calling the derm office trying to get in for follow up. Any comments appreciated. Has anyone gotten their money back if they failed treatment? My derm told me it works great for hormonal acne (I’m 37f had acne for 20 years). Been on accutane 5x. Do I take a 6th course? My previous derm said nothing else would help. But it only works temporarily as well..

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing an issue on Windows 11 where some applications, when set to fullscreen, leave an invisible gap around the edges of the screen. This causes the desktop or background to be slightly visible, and it ruins the fullscreen experience. Here's what I've tried so far: Checked the in-app resolution settings and matched them to my monitor's native resolution (2560x1440). Verified scaling settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel (set to Fullscreen). Disabled DisplayPort Deep Sleep on my monitor (ASUS PG279Q). Ensured that "Optimizations for fullscreen" is disabled in the compatibility settings of the affected apps. Updated my GPU drivers to the latest version. Despite these attempts, the issue persists across multiple applications, especially games. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any ideas on how to fix it? I’ll start by saying I’m safe and not going to hurt myself. My son died at 11 weeks 2 days old from an incredibly rare and severe condition. Now my life just feels pointless. I miss him so much I can’t put it into words. He’s only been gone 4 days and I just don’t ever see it getting better. He inherited the condition from my genetics and although logically I know it isn’t my fault as we had no idea I carried this gene I can’t help but feel like if anyone else was his mother he would be alive and happy.

So in my last game, my opponent fired some shots at my twc unit. The only model he could see what my wolf lord on tw. So he said that my character unit is the one that takes teh dmg as it was the only unit he could see. Another question that came up was when i attacked one of his units, he allocated to attacks to his character bc it had a 4+ invuln which the rest of the unit did not have and that character then blocked the dmg. Are either of these situations correct? Im still fairly new but in all my other games this is not how we played them
