2025.01.29 05:57 ZetaZebra ELI5 DNS and Reverse Proxy
Good morning all. I'm just getting my feet wet in self hosting and I'm reading in circles but can't seem to find the start of the process. I have set up a TrueNas instance on my dedicated server machine. I have installed Technitium on Docker and so far have installed only Immich.
I have my server 192.168.x.x local address as static. My goal is to securely connect certain apps to the internet for sharing with family.
My understanding so far: Tailscale will be a secure way for me to VPN and access my server apps but for easier sharing with family without having to set up on client devices it seems I need to set up a DNS with a domain name and then set up a reverse proxy (directs traffic and blocks other?)
I got a domain on porkbun. I installed technitium but don't know how to set it up and how to proceed. Please assist.
Looking at documentation, it seems I need to make A entries for each app I'm looking to deploy. Is the IPv4 address the local address 192.168.x.x:port that I use to access each app and then I assign it a url like appname.domainname.domain, or is this talking about the public IP address. I don't think I have that because my server is currently not connected to the internet outside my local network.

Hi! I have been trying to lose weight for the past couple of months but have not had much success. For context I am 26(F), 5’7, & 168lb. I keep reading articles about different approaches for weight loss; some say to do a calorie deficit but the calorie calculators online have given me different numbers and I’m not sure what approach is the best for my body? I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me figure out what I can do to do this. I would like to hit the 150lb mark by June if possible. The goal is to burn fat and gain muscle - look toned ultimately but I’m not sure if to begin doing calorie deficit to lose the fat and then do a surplus once I lose the weight to gain the muscle? Very confusing stuff but I would really love insight from people who succeeded in doing this or might just have better knowledge in this field. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! : )

Then the game instantly starts introducing you to the weird reality of the vault, gives you important choices to make, moral dilemas, a lot of info about the world, and mysteries to think about, it's literally a perfect start to a game
Then the game instantly throws you at megaton, which is one of the best fictional towns I've ever seen, it just captures the feeling of a post apocalyptic town so well, and the multiple levels make navigating more fun, and there's a literally a nuclear bomb at the middle of town, like wtf?
I'm in love with the game so far, please don't spoil anything past that point

I’m so done. D-day was about 7 months ago. Emotional affair AND porn. Then in October I found a message to a girl on Reddit who just posts naked pics. Luckily she didn’t respond so the convo didn’t go anywhere.
I’ve been feeling anxious recently and feel like something is up so I asked to look at his phone tonight. Thanks to you smart cookies in this sub, I decided to take a peek at his screen time and app activity, and oh boy did I hit the jackpot. This man is on “uhmegle” 1-2 hours a day talking to random people (he says it’s nothing explicit), he’s on onlyfans almost every day, as well as reddit which I know he uses strictly for porn. I started taking pictures of some of the things I was looking at and he had the audacity to be annoyed. And ALSO had the audacity to say “I don’t consider onlyfans to be cheating”. I said, “yeah but I do, and I’ve made that very clear”. Dude just stared at me and said “yeah I know”. HUH?? Make it make sense.
He’s begging me not to leave him……yeah, been there done that my dude, and look where we fucking ended up. I’m planning on texting my therapist first thing in the morning and ask for an emergency session, I’m feeling 10000 emotions right now and am feeling so hurt, betrayed, pissed, and just numb all at once. Sorry for the rant guys….this happened literally an hour ago and I’m still fuming. Don’t have anyone else to talk to at the moment, so I’m grateful for this sub 🫶🏻

I’ve been a compulsive hand washer for three years now and I just don’t know what to do. I’m afraid to touch certain spots on sink handles. I refuse to use knob sinks unless there’s paper towels nearby. if anything I consider touches another object, I have to viciously clean it with crocs wipes, and wash my hands in between times that I clean. I’m just really miserable. I probably spend 10-15 minutes a day washing my damn hands.

 | Over this past weekend, I got my first ever tarantulas! I got a 4 year old female Aphonopelma chalcodes and a roughly 4 month old Psalmopoeus irminia. I have the suntiger in a small acrylic enclosure, and I'm not worried about it since it seems comfortable, it’s already started decorating its enclosure with silk webbing. However, my A. chalcodes hasn’t been very active and hasn’t used her burrow. Man ive used straight talk most my adult life. & Have had many different numbers with them. But this time I really really need my old phone number back. I can't get into any of my email accounts or snap or anything bc it's all linked to my previous #. I only had that # a few months and got arrested and was incarcerated for months and the bitchass police dept destroyed all my property- phone, wallet, id, purse , all my documents like fucking everything. I'm so aggravated bc I had all my passwords writren down in a notebook that was destroyed too. They only hold it for 90 days and I was locked up longer than that. Ugh I need to get a lawyer or something bc they destroyed some really important info and stuff. Anyway, I really need to get my old number back at the very least. I have a TracFone now but I know I can get the fucking number back if there was anyone who does costumer service at straighttalk or TracFone who is actually competent. Geez it's a nightmare talking to those reps. Now it's saying my account is locked on the site for too many failed attempts? I literally only tried once. Who tf was trying to get into my account? Ugh it's so annoying and easy for a straighttalk account to be compromised these days since fucking Verizon always gets hacked. I miss the straighttalk that existed 12 years ago. Now straight talk is straight trash.
