Howdy!
Iâve been using disposable razors of various blade numbers for years, but no matter what I do, I keep getting nicks. It doesnât matter if I shave with, against, or to the side of the grainâthereâs always some irritation (usually a lot of nicks that lead to acne)! Iâve grown up with thick facial hair, so maybe thatâs part of it. By next morning I usually have a full shadow. Iâve tried both foil and rotary electric shavers, but they always get caught on my beard hairs no matter the length, and I end up having to pull them out, which is super painful. Iâve watched family members use their electrics without an issue, but for some reason, my beard hair always seems to mess things up.
Iâve done all the right things when shaving: I nock down all hair (fortunately my Phillips 360 One Blade works great!), I use a warm washcloth beforehand/during, try to be smooth and delicate with the razor, and even experiment with different shaving creams, and make sure to clean my face after (I will say, I feel after-shave creams just cause my skin to break out). Still, Iâm always dealing with irritation and cuts. Itâs become clear to me that disposable razors just donât work for meâmaybe my beard genes are too strong for them!
I was so tired of all the cuts and sensitive skin that I stopped using a razor for a year only ever mowing down the hair real short with my Phillips... Until recently I tried again with a razor aaand lo and behold it was bloody. I just want a good save for my sensitive skin and full thick beard.
After seeing some suggestions on this subreddit and other resources, I'm thinking it's time to give a safety razor a try and get a nice clean shave for once! Problem is, there is a WIIIIDE variety. Iâm wondering what I might need to get started. I want to do the best I can. Since Iâve never used a safety razor, Iâd also love any tips you have for a beginner.
I have a Walmart nearby, and Iâd like to pick up everything real soon if possible. Any recommendations for a beginner safety razor from there? What brands should I trust? What essential items should I get to go with it? And what are some key things I need to know to avoid the common mistakes?

I am new to the Soulsborne genre, Elden Ring being my first. I s*cked balls when I first started it, and rage quit twice. Now I started again and finally got into the game.
Now my question is that did I successfully "git gud" or is it just beginner luck. For reference, I am 60 hours into the game, and beat:
Margit - 4th try Godrick - 5th try Red Wolf - 1st try Rennala - 4th try Radahn - 2nd try Astel - 5th try Draconic Tree Sentinel - 3rd try
(Obviously I used NPC Summons and Spirit Ashes)
Please don't be mean, it is a genuine question as it is my first Soulslike, and I really want to know if I will be able to play the other games too

My current employer offers 6 months paid leave, which I know is a sweet deal, but it's not my dream job.
