i (16F) been having symptoms for almost three years now. i've been to several GPs, several paediatricians, several gastroenterologists, and recently also an ENT. i've done innumerable blood, serum, urine and feces tests, all of which came out normal except iron levels 37 (quite low but not technically iron deficiency) and low levels of lactase (possible lactose intolerance).
i have also done an endoscopy (with stomach lining biopsy), an mri, an ultrasound, and an xray. all normal.
my most bothersome and debilitating symptom is consistent and persistent nausea, which i've been experiencing for the longest time. sometimes it subsides in intensity for a few months, bust most of the time it is really bad and makes going to school and other things really difficult.
recently (~three months ago) i started getting really bad dizziness. i'm not sure if it is vertigo because i can't really tell the difference, but it kind of feels like i'm perpetually on a moving boat. when i look at a stationary object, the object and its surrounding appear to warp in a ~~~ motion(??) i do recall getting similar dizziness at the beginning of 2023 for about a month which was the worse i've ever felt, especially paired with horrible nausea. i could not leave my bed for weeks.
less bothersome symptoms that are still always present: - aural fullness, ears always blocked. can pop them, but feeling of fullness returns immediately after. - unsteadiness-? - light sensitivity, makes my head feel weird
i don't get headaches though, which i know is a main symptom of vestibular migraines.
i've also found that my triggers line up with VM common triggers: - caffeine (i've cut it out completely) - chocolate - aged cheese (i used to love it but cut it out for lactose intolerance purposes) - insufficient sleep - any type of motion ie. cars. i would say planes, boats and elevators are by far the worst
i also have a history of pretty bad motion sickness, and my mum and brother have it too, albeit not as severe as mine.
i am thinking about seeing a neurologist. i did consider that my symptoms could be psychomatic, as i have emetophobia - whenever i feel nauseous, i get really anxious and scared thinking about vomiting, which probably makes the nausea worse.
i take telfast (fexofenadine, an antihistamine) every day for allergies and hayfever, and i feel like it doesn't really help my dizziness despite it being an antihistamine. i've tried taking travel sickness medications but i live in australia, and all the pharmacies near me only sell hyoscine (scopolamine) and that doesn't really work for me, just makes my mouth superrrrrr dry.
i take ondansetron pretty much daily. it is an antiemetic and it does work for me, but not always. it also does absolutely nothing for the dizziness. my GP advised against using it as a preventative medication, but rather abortive, so i only take it when i already feel very nauseous, which just doesn't feel great :(
any advice would be greatly appreciated, im a bit stuck right now.

“They think they did,” Sebastián murmured.
Aleida sat across from him, boots propped up on the desk. “And yet, you’re still here. Still standing. Which means they didn’t.”
Sebastián didn’t respond. His fingers traced the coastline on the map, pausing over Ponce.
It had all started there. The whispers of revolt, the Lords making their move.
Now, Arecibo was a gambit. But what had been gained?
Mateo sighed, rubbing his temples. “So what’s the next play?”
Sebastián leaned back, considering. “The people of Arecibo will have their say in who leads them. The Lords think that gives them control.” He tapped the table lightly. “But power doesn’t come from titles. It comes from trust.”
Aleida smirked. “So you’re betting they’ll fail?”
“I’m betting they’ll govern like they always have. With greed. With short-sighted ambition.” His gaze darkened. “And when that happens, the people will remember who actually fought for them.”
The room was quiet for a long moment.
Then, a knock at the door.
Mateo opened it, revealing Estrella.
She entered, her expression unreadable. “We need to talk.”
Sebastián gestured for her to sit, but she shook her head. “This won’t take long.”
She pulled a small tablet from her coat and slid it onto the desk. A single image glowed on the screen.
A ship.
Sebastián frowned, leaning closer. “This was taken… where?”
Estrella exhaled. “Low Earth orbit. The ship belonged to Helios Defense. Or it did, until about twelve hours ago.”
Sebastián’s jaw tightened. “It’s been stolen?”
“No. It’s been taken. By Trans Galactic.”
The room tensed.
Mateo swore under his breath. “They’re making a move on Mars.”
Aleida whistled. “Didn’t take long, did it?”
Sebastián tapped his fingers against the desk, his mind already racing. Puerto Rico’s war had barely settled, and now another front was opening.
“We always knew they’d come for the colony,” he said. “But this fast? They must’ve been waiting for the right moment.”
Estrella folded her arms. “And you just gave it to them.”
Sebastián met her gaze. “You think I should have held Arecibo?”
“I think,” she said carefully, “that the moment you stepped back from one battlefield, another was waiting.”
Silence.
Aleida swung her legs off the desk, stretching. “So what’s the call?”
Sebastián exhaled slowly. “We don’t have the resources to engage in two wars at once. We need to move carefully.”
Mateo nodded. “We still have control over the salination plants, and the shipping routes are intact. But we can’t fight a war in space.”
Sebastián drummed his fingers against the desk. “No. But we can control the flow of resources.”
Estrella raised a brow. “You’re talking about a blockade?”
“I’m talking about leverage.” He looked at each of them in turn. “If Trans Galactic wants to take Mars, let them. But they’re going to pay for it.”
Aleida grinned. “So we starve them out?”
Sebastián’s expression was unreadable.
“We remind them that war isn’t just about who holds the battlefield,” he said quietly. “It’s about who owns the supply lines.”
Duke Idris Kane sat at the head of the long council table, fingers steepled. The Lords around him were still riding the high of their victory, but he knew better.
Sebastián had given up Arecibo too easily.
And that made Kane uneasy.
A page rushed in, bowing quickly. “My lord, reports are coming in from the docks.”
Kane turned. “What kind of reports?”
The page hesitated. “The cargo shipments. They’re… delayed.”
A ripple of tension passed through the room. Kane’s eyes narrowed. “Delayed how?”
“The shipments from Carolina. The ones carrying desalinated water, medical supplies—everything we requested.”
Kane sat back, his expression darkening.
Sebastián had cut the supply lines.
It wasn’t a war of armies. It was a war of patience.
And Kane had the sinking feeling he’d just been outplayed.
