2025.01.31 02:01 Cultural-Cat-2013 Balance transfers on closed accounts
Is it possible? I have a closed capital one account with a $7800 balance. When I called and tried to negotiate, they said they weren’t able to do anything for me because the account was closed for the first 15 months it had 0% APR. I fell on hard times and ended up using the card much more than I intended. I would schedule payments and then other obligations would happen and I wouldn’t have enough money for the payment to post so they eventually close the account.
I’m in a much better position now, and was throwing fairly large chunks at a beginning balance of 10,000 . Do I have any options or am I screwed?
Unlike my significant other..I don’t want to say “FU” to the bank and not pay. Responsible adult here

My partner and I plan to move in together in the spring. We've been together for a year and a half, and I love this person so much. My issue isn't with them, but with my own irrational feelings.
My partner and I discussed what moving in together would look like several months ago, and the plan was to look for a house to purchase ( in their name as they're the ones with the money for a down payment) and to split the mortgage and utilities. My partner would be in charge of any repairs to the home (ie. Plumbing issue, new air filters, etc) but I would do my part of any renovation and upkeep needed. The equity of this first home would be used in the future to add to my savings (when I get a job that's not being a graduate student) to purchase a family home that can accomplish kids. If we couldn't find a place within a month of my lease ending, we would look for a house to rent for a year or so while we wait to look again. I was on board with this plan, and we are both excited to be able to have the other close by.
With all of the recent craziness that has happened and the fact that I work at a government agency, I have been dealing with a lot of stress as my job suddenly has a lot more uncertainty surrounding it. I plan to defend my dissertation in November still, and have been assured I will have funding until then but this is still a volatile situation to say the least. With this added stress, my partner now seems more comfortable with renting and purchasing a home together when we're both married. This makes sense, and I can't tell them how to spend their savings. I want them to be comfortable with whatever decision they make.
Logically, I know I shouldn't feel upset about this but I'm struggling to not feel unhappy about this change. While I know my partner is taking time to assess the whole situation, and I'm happy that they're doing so, I just feel like.i have absolutely no control over anything that's happening to and around me anymore. I was frustrated enough with the uncertainty at work, and having this new development just caused me to tip over into an emotional hellhole. My options seem to be either let my partner take control of the moving in situation, or live separately for a few more years. With them owning the home, and my contributing to the mortgage and upkeep I saw that as us both investing in our future together. Obviously, if things went south I would leave and find my own place. With renting, oddly enough I feel worse about contributing; the money is not adding to our future, if things go south even if I'm on the lease I will still have to leave (as my partner wants a house to entertain and have guests, and I certainly can't afford to pay that rent on my own), and I wouldn't even be able to change things to make it our place.
I'm upset that with renting outright instead of planning to buy and renting as a last resort they may be put at less financial risk (or more savings in the short term) while I am staying at the same risk level of not increasing that risk level. We're having a further discussion in a few days, and I want to go into it with a clear head and no negative emotions or resentment clouding everything. How do I get to a neutral place so I can state my concerns and make a decision that will feel right for both of us?

So I am an RN at a convent for retired nuns. I like to connect with the sisters at meal times because it allows me to assess how they are doing and if they need anything health wise. So I was feeding this 90 year old confused little nun last year. She normally called out for her mom and her brother in distress all the time because she thought she was a little girl which is sometimes an unfortunate symptom of her dementia, so I always just tried my best to connect with her and make sure she knew I was there but it was really hard because she just is wasn’t herself anymore. (Dementia sucks) But one night she seemed even more upset than normal she kept shaking her head saying “no! NO!” And then she says to everyone at the table (other nuns, myself, and another nurse) “I don’t want to get married!” Everyone at the table laughed a little and reassured her that she was a nun for more than 75 years and she didn’t have to get married. She just kept shaking her head and was very serious staring at her dinner plate, like she was having these visions or flashbacks or something. And I was just struck with this thought, my gosh she is really scared about getting married…
So everyone left the table and she was just looking down at her plate, not eating because she was too preoccupied in thought and said to me very seriously and very matter-of-factly “you’re going to have trouble.” And my heart broke in that moment because she looked so serious and scared and heartbroken. And I asked her, “I will have trouble if what, sister?” And she scoffed at me and looked into my eyes like it was obvious “you will have trouble if you get married.”
At that time I had been with my boyfriend for probably 9 months and the thought of marriage hadn’t crossed my mind too much.
Now we’ve been together longer and the thoughts have started to cross my mind and his as well as her ominous warning. I know 1 Corinthians 7:28 says something similar to this. Marriage is hard work, it won’t be easy, but I think this is the Lords calling on my life.
Does anyone have any encouragement? I’m feeling scared of what the future could hold. I know this season should be a joyful one and it is, but it’s also scary trusting that someone will take care of you, will protect you, and will do you good.

Hey all, ill keep it short and sweet
I have one LLC under my name that I operate alone and I take in income through it during the year
My partner has the same LLC under his name and takes in income during the year
Together we have another LLC that we own and operate together, 50/50 spit. This is a marketing content creation and marketing business.
We have paid taxes for our own independent LLC last year and now this year will be the first year paying with the joint company involved.
I understand that in the state of CT, partnership LLC's are a passthrough entity to the individual owners income taxes.
My questions are this:
- We keep everything tracked within Waves free accounting software. Should we feel comfortable filing the Form CT-1065 ourselves, or would you recommend hiring a CPA.
- If we were to hire a CPA, is there any online websites or businesses that offer credible online CPA advisory and tax help that is trustworthy and work with small business owners?
- Finally, is there any general tax advice that would benefit us to know that you can think of based off our current filing situation.
