I'm working through a few ideas to implement long term, more narrative curse-like effects for my campaign. I want to encourage paranoia and corruption since it's a folk horror campaign but I want it to be an undercurrent for a while until it really builds up later on. Sort of like the 'what have I become' moment in a lot of movies.
In smaller stakes situations that still have an impact beyond the party I'd give them slightly misrepresented information that will make the pc more likely to make the morally bad choice. They wouldn't get outright wrong information or something different than the reality. It would be more situations with multiple narratives but one narrative is morally right or one person involved is legitimately the victim. Increasingly, the things that the pc's hear make the 'worse' narratives more believable.
When I've done corruption/cursed item situations before I feel like it easily becomes a clear setup that just isn't very satisfying. My goal behind this is they're still deciding what to do and playing normally but it feels easier to involve this element narratively.
My question: I plan to make this more obvious once the story hits a certain point and when it gets revealed (so to say) it will be presented as the players read the situation wrong because of in game reasons and not because the dm decided to give them wrong info, hopefully avoiding a 'haha I tricked you' moment. I'm back and forth on whether this will feel like an emotional story point that they'll be invested in or if it will just feel shitty.
Does anyone have thoughts on this or has done something similar before?

this may seem like a dumb question but im fairly new to the game, and new to playing a hunter. But my pets abilites are all greyed out and i cant level up any of them. I got 48 training points to spend as well. My pets level is 15 and im level 16. is there a reason for this or am i missing something or forgot to do something?

2025.01.31 02:11 excitinglaundry How can I teach my 6 year old cat he can eat without me present?
Whenever my cat is hungry he will come directly to me and cry instead of visiting his bowl first, which still has food in it. So I follow him to his food dish, he eats and I sneak away.
This means he doesn't eat while I am sleeping or when I am not at home which worries me even though the vet said he is a bit overweight. If I ignore him when he is hungry he acts out by chewing computer or tv cables to get my attention. I feed him twice a day but he never finishes in one sitting what I put out.
Background: He has been doing this since I adopted him 11 months ago, he is neutered and indoor only. Before that he was a stray, caged at an animal shelter for 14 months. Maybe he is used to being fed every time a person appeared, twice a day?
He gets urinary-care kibble (and is now free of bladder crystals), we did change brands to one he likes better. He has no interest in canned food or people food which the vet said was fine.
A friend said he just likes to have a "dinner buddy". I'm glad he trusts me and has otherwise adjusted well to his new home and seems happy.
Any suggestions on how to teach him to eat on his own without me there to get him started each time he is hungry?

Hey y’all. Has anyone else been dealing with really bad anxiety with/after Influenza A? I feel like I am paying VERY close attention to everything that I feel. I’ve been to the hospital so many times for them to tell me that I am fine. My bad flu symptoms are gone. I just cough up mucus, feel very tired, a little shaky, and A LOT of anxiety. I also haven’t gotten my appetite back completely. Anyone one else experiencing this?

Almost 10 years. This game has been around for almost a decade, and it has never been this good before. I love No Man’s Sky, and I’ve seen you guys get just as excited as I do every time a new update is announced. But there’s something that I feel like no one wants to acknowledge.
The truth is, Hello Games keeps adding more content, and that’s awesome. But there’s already so much in the game that has existed for years and still needs improvement or fixing.
How many times have you had issues with terraforming? You know—that little hill you flattened to build a road or your main base that keeps regenerating every time you pass by, and you just can’t get rid of it? Or that tall building you built that, for some reason, doesn’t protect you from storms and rain?
And let’s not even talk about multiplayer... Actually, never mind, let’s talk about it. Yes, this game is multiplayer. But the only part of the experience that truly feels multiplayer to me is Expeditions. Otherwise, it just doesn’t feel like a co-op game. And yes, I get it—the universe is massive, so of course, you’re going to spend most of your time alone unless you join one of the awesome communities out there or take part in those amazing Expeditions.
But what I really mean is the co-op experience—which is what’s missing the most. Waving at a stranger is cool, but I want to play with my friends. I want to form a real team, build a shared base that we can all use even when some of us aren’t online—just like we used to do in Minecraft, for example. I want to travel with my friends in a ship with multiple seats, whether it’s for two, three, or four players.
When I first bought this game, we truly thought we’d be able to play together like we used to as kids. But in the end, we’re just playing a solo game on the same server. I can’t even travel with my friend in his mothership in another system because my game keeps crashing every time. 10 years, guys. 10 years, and things like this still happen.
So yeah, I love Hello Games, I love No Man’s Sky, and I’m hyped for Light No Fire (I really hope the co-op system will be as good as Minecraft, Rust, or Ark). But I feel like Hello Games tries to cover up the things they haven’t fixed by adding cool new features.
Anyway, thank you, Hello Games. Thank you, Sean. Keep adding free updates—we love them. But please, your game has the potential to be the greatest space game ever made. I’m begging you: make the things that already exist in the game as polished as you know they can be.

Looking for some gym shoes that are more supportive than standard running shoes. I have a decently wide foot with a high arch so Nikes and Reeboks have historically not been great for my foot. Most gym sessions for me consist of 15-20 minutes of incline treadmill at a brisk walk, then lifting for 45 minutes to an hour. I currently wear Reebok Nanos and love the support but they’re squeezing the life out of my toes by the end of the workout. Thanks for any help.
