As I was reading Created in God’s Image by Anthony Hoekema, I came across a concept that stood out to me: self-image.His argument is that self-image is a better way for Christians to view themselves compared to self-love or self-esteem.
The reasoning? Self-love can become idolatrous if it turns inward rather than upward to God (Matt. 22:37-39). Self-esteem—which means "to admire or respect oneself"—can easily lead to pride. But self-image, he argues, is grounded in Genesis 1, where we are made in the image of God. That is, we are valuable because we reflect Him, but we are also being renewed into His image (2 Cor. 3:18).
It made me think: Should Christians avoid terms like self-love and self-esteem and instead focus on self-image? Does this perspective resonate with you, or do you see it differently?

2025.01.31 01:52 IllMotion2112 Metallic / Rattling Noise from Engine Bay - MK8 Golf R
Has anyone experienced an inconsistent, metallic rattling noise coming from the engine bay when idling? Sounds like metallic chirping.
Video attached. Please don't focus on the normal cam/valve noise. Noticed a few weeks ago when I pulled into a quiet garage. Something is different, but I cannot pinpoint origin.
I'm hoping it's a heat shield or something benign. Car is not driven hard, never launched, daily driver, 3-5K oil changes, etc. Would not expect this stemming from any form of abuse. Ambient temperature, or engine temperature variance have not made a difference.

Hey, guys!
I wrote a primer on my [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]].
It's supposed to be a super optimized, non budget version of the deck with lots of resilience pieces and burning tools in addition to the traditional stompy game plan.
Regarding updates, I've included 2 new cards from Aetherdrift so far and they share great synergies with the rest of the list.
This primer is covering in details the 9 existing combos of the deck while also clarifying some of its confusing interactions and justifying some unconventional choices of mine.
By the way, this is my first time writing an extensive guide like this and I would much appreciate your comments, so I can keep improving it.

I had an emotional moment with my recent ex at the time. A couple weeks later she was SA. Found out months later she was pregnant. Now the baby is 18 months old and I’ve been well into her life for a year now. I chose not to be involved at the beginning because I didn’t know if she was mine or not and didn’t want to be attached because I knew the risk of me getting attached as I have had an ex with children before and the worst is losing the attachment to the kids. I gave up on the paternity testing and accepted she was mine after a while because her mother also didn’t want to know the results of the test given that the alternative to me not being her father was that the man who SA her was her father. I love the child dearly and I have been planning my life and career based on her well being. I have been telling coworkers and just random people in conversation I’m a father and I’ve been damn proud of it. It felt nice. For a young man with no real family attachment or father figure, to say I have a daughter was a relief. Her mother and I have a strained relationship and we aren’t the best at communicating but at the end of the day we both want what is best for the baby.
Recently been going through some tough times and have considered getting a vasectomy so I wanted to do the test. Ordered a Genetrace test and sent it in. Got the results saying I have 0% chance of being the father. I feel empty. I feel as if I’m no longer her father, I feel like she was pulled away from me and that I don’t belong. I feel like the ex-step father trying to stay in the picture.
I understand that I have made some very obvious mistakes and I don’t need to be reminded of that. At this point, I just need advice. I need someone to talk to. I feel like I have no where to turn. My heart says to act like the test never happened and love her until my last breath but I know myself. I know it’s always going to be in my mind, feeling like I’m living a lie. The other hand, my brain says to get out and walk away now before I ruin it even more. Before I destroy something else and hurt more people in life. Just run away and try to drown it in some unhealthy coping mechanism.
Maybe the test was wrong. Maybe it was right. Maybe I should be her father. Maybe it’s best for everyone if I take off and don’t look back. I honestly don’t know if I could recover from walking away from this but if that is what is best then maybe it should happen. Idk
