I'm seeing posts going back almost a decade complaining about the terrible text tool. It's 2025 and this otherwise very capable editor can't resize a textbox or disable anti-aliasing. It is literally what stops Krita from being my preferred image editor. Are there any active efforts by the developers to actually improve the text tool, or is it just going to keep being less functional than 2006 GIMP? At the very least, is there a workaround to disable anti-aliasing on text?

Really need a good advice. We have adopted a cat last month, records say he's somewhat between 1-2 years old. Both of us had cats all our life, not the first cat for us is it makes the difference. He's a good cat overall. Since we adopted him, he didn't have problem with getting familiar and comfortable with the place, he wasn't scared of us, etc. He went to sleep on our bed on the very first day as well. He was biting occasionally for the first week, but since we didn't know him yet we thought he's just not comfortable fully with us yet and this is his sign to give him space. We never forced him to cuddle or anything though. We give him space always. Since then he started doing this way more often, i guess since he feels comfortable enough
He loves us and we know that, he always greets us when we come home and pets our legs with his body for legit 5-10 minutes and usually that's the time he allows us to pet him as well. He follows us at home everywhere, bathroom, bedroom, always, and yaps a lot if we are behind the closed door. He comes to take a nap on our bed at night (even though its a problem for us and that's because -)
The thing that concerns me is his biting. Its not kitty bite, he draws blood, sometimes i feel like he legit wants to tear off my flesh. We can't predict when he's going to bite.
Some of the regular situations:
- While we sleep he bites our toes and hands, because of that we have to keep the door closed otherwise we can't sleep at all. He can fall asleep with us, wake up, starts to bite, repeat.
- I'm just passing by and he haunts me.
- We're sitting at our pc's and he start biting our legs/hands
- Sometimes when he follows me to the washroom he would just be my company but sometimes he started to bite me right on the porcelain throne :/
- When we try to pet him (almost never happened since we dont force it but worth including).
- He has a lot of hunting toys like wands and etc, i am spending time with him playing at least 30 minutes a day, he also has his favorite plushie that he drags around with him and hunts by himself
- Squeaking when he uses claws and teeth even if it doesn't hurt - he never cared about it, no reaction whatsoever from him
- Rewarding for petting
- Gently pressing his head when he bites - he doesn't care at all as well.
- Never using hands when playing
- When it gets too extreme we have to lock him out in another room to chill out
Please help.

Hi guys I need your opinion. I'm in my early 40s and considering to retire in Japan with my wife. I cant make up my mind whether or not to make the move. I try to summarize my thoughts here, appreciate any comments!
Pros of moving to Japan (just my thoughts):
- Similar quality of life but definitely more exciting than my country
- Financially is the same for me as I can rent out my property at my home country and eventually sell it off. If I were to stay put, I’ll have to work for another 5 years to compensate for that
- My wife & I are introvert. We meet friends once a year so having no social life in Japan makes no difference to us
- We love to walk/hike in the nature. We don’t have that in our country, we have to travel out. Right now we prefer Japan the most and it seems like traveling within the country is cheaper and easier especially when we become older. If we stay, we will not be able to travel when we hit 75-80 and we will be stuck in a city.
- If we stay, we will still travel to Japan 40% of the year as a tourist and 10% to other countries. But that means we cannot have dogs (we don’t have kids). It also means we will be living on suitcase for 50% of our time. (Not sure if that feels ok when we turn 50 or 60)
- Residency status: I can get a work visa but we are not sure if we can get a permanent residency. We are trying not to rent (for the hassle & extra cost). On top of that we found a property we quite like and we don't want to miss it if we are sure that we will be retiring in Japan
- Honeymoon period over and reality kicks in: if we move to Japan we will likely be reducing our travel to other countries. Will we be bored of the destinations in Japan after 3 years of constant traveling, considering they are mostly quite similar (i might be wrong about them being similar)
- Natural disasters: Not sure if we can adapt and cope with earthquakes considering Japanese have been taught about it in school since young.
- Language barriers in the initial phase: I can read Japanese but I have lost touch having conversations. We will need to spend time and efforts to learn. Again I am literally pulling myself out of my comfort zone so it has to be something worth fighting for.
- Unexpected financial changes: Interest hikes, lower dividends etc for the early retirement
- Leaving comfort zone: It’s a big move out of comfort zone for us as the only issue for us in our country is the lack of resources for traveling within the country. Other than that we are quite comfortable now. We are worried that if we just stay in our comfort zone we might regret It.

Hey everyone!
I recently got an email (3 days back) from a recruiter at Google DeepMind saying they are reviewing my resume and wanted to learn more about my experience. They asked me a couple of questions (SQL project example, stakeholder management), which I responded to right away. The recruiter mentioned they'd get back to me with the next steps.
Does this mean they’re seriously considering my application? I’m staying optimistic and continuing my LC grind to be prepared in case things progress.
Would love to hear any thoughts or similar experiences!
