I am a Brazilian Catholic 🇧🇷🇻🇦, and here Catholicism was weakening rapidly, despite us being (or at least having been) the country with the largest absolute number of Catholics.
1991 (IBGE Census):
Catholics: 83.3%
Protestants: 9.0%
No religion: 4.7%
Other religions: 3.0%
2019 (Datafolha Survey):
Catholics: 50%
Protestants: 31%
No religion: 10%
Other religions: 9%
A large portion of them are considered non-practicing, and another significant part has converted to Protestant movements—mostly Pentecostal, with a strong growth of Neo-Pentecostal movements as well.
In other words, Catholicism was in decline. However, in recent years, it has started to regain strength in Brazil.
One of the things that have been happening is the conversion of Protestants to Catholicism.
That was my case. My mother came from a Catholic family but became an Evangelical, as did a large part of my family. When I was born, I was already in a Protestant household.
If I’m not mistaken, we attended a Baptist church when I was a child, and as I grew older, we moved to a Pentecostal one.
At 18 or 19 years old, I started researching Catholicism because I often heard Protestants criticizing it. That led me to a question: How could they have so many followers worldwide if they were supposedly so clearly wrong?
The main points of disagreement I saw being criticized were: the veneration of images, saints, and Mary, as well as the existence of a pope.
Trying to understand why Catholics believed in these things, I came across the topic of the papacy through apologetics websites. That’s when I started to realize the existence of a tradition passed down from the apostles, which led me to begin my conversion process.
Something similar has happened to other Protestants in recent years.
I also heard from a Catholic (who was an atheist and converted a long time ago) that, when he converted years ago, in the midst of Catholicism’s temporary decline, the Masses were empty—while today, they are full.
I also believe that more traditional movements have contributed to Catholicism’s growth because, whether people admit it or not, they are hungry for tradition.
I believe (and hope) that in a few years, Catholicism will become more influential again. I suppose we are experiencing a revival here.

I understand all the common arguments around tipping, I know not everyone has a car and this might be how they get cold meds delivered and can’t afford to tip on an expensive app, etc etc. However, not even a dollar a mile, 2 pick up locations, alcohol, 3 drop offs, and it takes me to one of the most traffic heavy parts of Jacksonville to almost a different city (orange park.) Nope, I don’t think so. Actually, hell no.

Hi, I’m 14 and got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed earlier today. This might not be the right place for this post but I can now feel a flap with my tongue where the stitch is on the bottom right. Looking at it, the blood clot and stitch are still there so I don’t know if it’s anything serious. The rest of the stitches don’t feel like this. Should I go back and see my oral surgeon and ask?

Despite my background—I spent five years as a paralegal before law school, so I understand how firms operate—I’m not sure how to take the next step in either direction. About a month and a half ago, I realized Haru (left) had a bit of feline acne on his chin. I got chlorexidine pads at our vet and have been applying a few times a week but not only it hasn’t been working, but it’s gotten a bit worse and now T’Challa (right) has it too.
Wondering if I should change/replace anything of the following factors, or if you can share what has worked for you…
-They eat out of elevated ceramic bowls. I wash it once a day minimum
-They eat a mix of kibble (nutrisource) and wet food (tiki cat, weruva), there hasn’t been a change in food.
-They have a plastic water fountain, wondering if this could be??? I wash it once per week.
-No change in their routine
-I already tried to gently remove the acne with a tiny brush, not doing much.

I'm 5'1 and 125 pounds I'm trying to get to around 120 and really focus on losing fat. I've been trying to have a good amount of protein each day and eating clean. I lost 3 pounds in the last 2 month...very slow. Anyone have suggestions? I feel like maybe I'm eating too any zero point foods since they are high protein.
