2025.01.31 02:39 Adventurous-Laugh-86 AITAH For Telling My Cosmetology Teacher “Well it’s not about what you like, now is it? It’s about what the client likes, isn’t it?”
Let's start from the beginning. I started this cosmetology school, which I will not name for professional and personal reasons. It started off OK everyone seems nice but I could tell her I didn't fit in. Eventually, I noticed everyone started leaving me out on things even if it was just important information for school and as we gained more students, it became more apparent overtime. The teachers showed the same behavior to me too, and it became to the point where I started being lectured yelled at and cuss at mainly by my main cosmetology teacher, let's call her Olivia. Now I started doing this cosmetology school when I first turned 18 so I'm the youngest or I was when I first started anyway. She constantly used that to her advantage though told me autism wasn't real and that I was just being a normal teenager acting up like any teenager would. We told her from the start that I'm autistic and that I have ADHD and a communication disorder that I have a hard time, understanding things and need more of a visual learning. Olivia constantly disregards that I'm autistic. She would also constantly blame me for things that sometimes I did do and sometimes I didn't. And would constantly berate me for things she didn't like. It got so bad that I was scared to ask for help and she would constantly act super sweet randomly and sort of in a sense love on me because she would give me all these sweet compliments and do something good for me or take me on this field trip And then randomly a day or two later she would just straight up mentally and emotionally abuse me by yelling at me and putting me down. When I told her that this very popular hairstylist told me that I was guaranteed a job with him after I get out of school. She started using him against me in her lectures and yelling saying that- (I'm just gonna call him Sam for the story sake.) "oh Sam wouldn't like that or do you think Sam is gonna accept that?" I could tell she was kind of two-faced and had favoritism because she would always get these pictures that are focusing on all the other students and she spend more time with them and all these fun events even if she took me on them and talk more about them than she did me, but she would act nice out in public and would always act this way to me behind closed doors, even if a student would walk in shed. Tell them to leave or she just straight up go quiet until they left. She takes the other to the back too, so I don't know what they talk about. I'm not allowed in there when she talks to them. I hope she's not treating the others the way she's treating me. it was only a emotional and mental abuse up until two days ago two days ago I went to a homeless event cutting homeless people's hair for free and my Bestie was there because she's in the chef course so after getting through all these homeless people which were super nice they were super sweet people. I invited her to come get a haircut for me, and of course, she jumped on that it was mainly just a trim and a bang cut and she has this cool alternative haircut. she hates her bangs in her eyes and her hair grows fast so I do her hair and she really loves it. She loves her haircut. She loves the bangs. She even texted me that night and was like I absolutely love these. Don't let anyone tell you anything else right after I finished with her she's not very perceptive so she didn't quite notice this per se but it happened right behind her right after I finished with her haircut, I took off her cape and I put it on the floor for temporary because I was gonna clean up the floor after I was done sanitizing my tools for my next client and I figured if I did it in that order, then I could clean up all the hair, including the hair that was on my tools. Well, Olivia grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards her to the point where it sent a pain and shock signal to my brain she didn't leave any marks or anything, but I generally became scared. I was shocked and appalled that she would even do that and I don't like to be touched, especially without warning. I already prepare myself for if a client touches me, but I can't even remember how tight it was if it was actually really tight. It hurt me it did and I don't know if that's just because I'm autistic and it sent that signal to my brain or if it was the shock or if it was actually because she had me tight. but I couldn't stop looking at my wrist after that happened and I sort of just mentally broke down. I didn't start crying, but I just mentally broke down and I ran to the bathroom and calmed myself down by texting my boyfriend and splashing water on my face and then I went back out luckily, that was the end of the event. The very next morning, however I went into my school and I was just doing my schoolwork and Olivia walked up to me and started lecturing me about how I don't seem happy enough. I don't seem to want to learn which I do if I didn't I wouldn't be showing up and how she doesn't know why it's taking me longer to learn things, then everyone else. One thing I forgot to mention is anytime I do a haircut even if I was doing just fine and following all instructions and it was coming out great and everything was going well. She would just randomly come over and snatch the scissors from my hand and take over my haircut. I have so many witnesses to that, that can attest to that so even if I tried, she would just take it over and it was only me she would do it too. Well, anyways, she was on to say that she thinks the haircut I did on my bestie was horrible and that I can't cut a haircut without her help that I'm nine months in that I should know better and that I should be able to cut an a line perfectly (which I've never cut a line before.) she then goes on to ask me "are you confident that you can do a haircut without my help" and I said yes she then gave me this judgmental look and said "really? you think that haircut you did on your bestie last night was good? Are you confident in that haircut you did on your Bestie?" I said yes. Olivia seem pissed at this point and she said "really? you'd let a client walk out like that?" Now if I really wasn't confident in the haircut and I really didn't like the haircut I wouldn't have let a client walk out like that but personally, I thought that the bangs looked cute with her facial features and yes, I did cut them a bit short compared to what I was going for But I thought it was still pretty cute and I wasn't just gonna cut half of it to be accidentally above the eyebrows and then the other half at the eyebrows so I even did up and my Bestie liked it and I liked it. It looked cute on her. And by the way the entire time she asked me these questions she was getting a very snarky attitude so at this point she's incredibly pissed because I've answered truthfully and I'm starting to get really really upset. I'm sick and tired of how she's treated me at this point, and I am very confident in that haircut I did, but I tried to stay quiet and just take it until she got up in my face and said, "but I don't like it". So I admit at this point, I finally snapped and I said, in an attitude. "Well, it isn't about what you like, now is it? It's about what the client likes." She didn't like the answer. She was fuming at this point and she wrote me up and sent me home before she sent me home. She sat there yelling at me in the back about how horrible the haircut was and how she doesn't know how she can teach me how she's not gonna have Her education she gave to me look bad and how she's not gonna have a bad name because of me. She really made it sound like she's going to try her hardest to fail me, which makes me a bit nervous but maybe I just took it wrong. It won't shock me if she finds a way to lose some of my information in my student file or anything like that.

Seemingly every day when I open up Reddit, be it browser or the android app, I get a notification from a subreddit I'm in under the category of "Today". I've already turned off practically every notification setting, including the community ones, but it still persists. Is there any way to turn this off, or is this a new feature that we're unable to opt out of?

I don't post alot, didn't bother making a throwaway. Husband lurks in Reddit so if he sees it I don't care. Sorry it is long. We have known each other for close to 15 years, married almost 10, now have a child together. We've gone through alot together and (I thought) we were a strong family unit. There's the usual everyday stress like money and kid stuff but on the most part, we rarely argue, openly communicate and are equal partners when it comes to running the house. Today I got home from picking up our child and as we were making dinner in the kitchen I saw a bite mark on his neck and my stomach tied itself in a knot. I asked him if our child bit him and he said no. I then simply asked him why he had a bite mark on his neck then. He backpedaled and then said maybe our child did and he forgot. I asked him you forgot you were bit? I told him to go look at it and he came back from the bathroom claiming he couldn't see it. I took a picture of it for him and showed him and he said oh I was cleaning and carry alot of heavy stuff today so maybe it got pinched. I told him you already told me you don't know and are now making up things to explain it. I reminded him that when we got married I told him zero tolerance and I mean zero. He's upset and thinks I'm over reacting and doing the usual "I love you, why would I hurt you, please believe me, etc" I am upset. I believe our perfect family is crumbling. I don't bother asking for a phone or computer to look through, he's a tech savvy guy (like website building and app design etc) and I'm not equipped to deep dive into it. For me it's enough to start paperwork. Am I over reacting? Some more context- he's been focusing on bettering himself the past year or so, going to the gym everyday, eating better, taking care of himself more. I think he is most handsome man in the world and love him so much no matter how he looked, but he's lost alot of weight and gained muscle. He said he is bettering himself so he can be a better dad and husband. I thought that was great, but after tonight it makes me worry if it is for other reasons. He also goes out of town often, he's in the motorcycle community so attends shows and things, I used to go with him but after we had our child, I now usually stay home while he's gone 3-4 days. I used to never worry, but now I am not sure. He also goes out about average 1 night a week with friends and comes home 1am or later. I've never had a reason to not trust him but for some reason tonight I feel devastated. A friend of ours is going through a nasty divorce so maybe it is on my subconscious? Sorry for the long post. Sorry if this doesn't belong here. Am I overreacting?
