2025.01.31 04:12 ODB95 Think I’ve finally come to the realization that I’ve been way too goddamn hard on myself
So I won’t get too much into my upbringing but to make a long story short, I had a pretty shitty childhood. As I’m sure many people had.
No father, abusive single mother, bullied in school especially for my looks. Shit fucked me up even into adulthood. Carried all that venom in me and let it fuck with my self esteem, didn’t help that even as recent as a few years ago (like 2022) I was still getting shitty comments on my appearance. What else can you believe when you move from one place to another, grow up and meet new people and you still get the same opinions of you. How do you not start internalizing that shit? Obviously this didn’t help with my dating life or lack there of.
Fast forward and idk what happened but starting summer of last year suddenly I started getting compliments of my looks suddenly, even before I started getting my body right and losing some weight (for context I’ve only really been big from 2021 to mid-2024, I’ve gotten negative comments about my appearance for years even before that for various reasons). One girl at my job started flirting with me, one of my other workers who was gay called me handsome, and this really motivated me to continue my weight loss journey.
Since then (especially at my current job) I’ve gotten compliments on my body, being told on 3 occasions I have beautiful skin, girls calling me cute etc. Even ended up making out with a coworker of mine that I had the biggest crush on. I don’t say all this to be conceited even though I know it probably reads like that, but coming from a background where all I ever got was negative comments on myself this change blew my fucking mind. Never thought I’d ever hear the compliments I’ve been getting in my lifetime. I’ve even got coworkers asking me my workout routine, shit feels good.
It also got me thinking how much I let other people’s opinions effect me this whole time. I guess you could still make this argument even now just on the more positive side now but I’m seeing now that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and looking back now even in childhood I’ve had occasions where girls called me cute, I just let all the negative people talking shit about ke effect my mind and overshadow the positive.
Anyways this shit is getting too long now. Just thought I’d make a positive post for once instead of moping all the damn time.

I just got the job and I told them I can only work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. For Monday and Wednesday Im only available for 3 hours for the next two weeks. They said they would give me those shifts and then mid day shifts on Friday. I get a text saying I have to work 7 hours...and I'm not sure if I really want to do that amount of time for zero pay. Is this normal??? I wanna make sure im not getting take advantage of.

No Hi, i was diagnosed with bacterial pharingyngitis more than one week ago, It hurt a lot to swallow, I had nasal congestion and I could see white spots on my throat. The dr gave me an antibiotic course,the pain went away and I felt much better, its been 9 days now since I was diagnosed but i still have the white spots 😭😭 does anyone now if its normal? Or could it mean the infection is still there Should i go back to the dr? 🥲

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It randomly shut off while driving, no longer cranks, and the immobilizer light is flashing. I pulled codes and its got P0513 Invalid SKIM Key, B1A28 ECM Mismatch with SKIM, and B1A35 Unidentified Key Communication Error. I've read that it could be an issue with the key fob or the ignition switch itself. Has any encountered an issue like this?

I’m on the fence on sizing up because (most of my bras are 32DDD) and might be unnecessary? The bigger boob slightly spills out of my bra when the other sits comfortably. I know someone who seems to have a Cluster B personality disorder and has been unwittingly exposed to amphetamines for a very long time—over a period of years. I am having trouble untangling the effects of the drugs from her natural mental state, which has been damaged by childhood abuse.
Have there been any studies on the effects of amphetamines on people with Cluster B personality disorders? I am trying to help this person, but like many individuals with personality disorders, she is aggressive. I don't know how much of this behavior is due to her condition and how much is related to amphetamine-induced psychosis.
I have a Philosophy degree and a certificate in Positive Psychology. I have some basic knowledge, but I am not a psychiatric professional. I work in IT and am trying to help someone. I would appreciate a link to a real study—paywalls are fine, as I have access to the online library at Oxford University through an affiliation with the University of London. She is attending therapy but is not taking any psychiatric medications.

2025.01.31 04:12 Quynm Decompression surgery caused scapular pain?
I had my first rib removed back in August to relieve my TOS.
For the last month or so though, I have had subtle yet sharp pain around my scapular. It feels deep. I am not sure if it is related to the surgery, but I have never had pain there before, and it constant. Plus, certain movements cause it to flair even more.
I am not sure if it is related to the surgery mainly because the pain is in my left upper-back, and the surgery was on my right chest.
Has anybody experienced anything similar post-surgery?
