I have recently finished reading the Shadow of the Tyrant King series by JD Matter (Rise of the Exile, The Two Quests, and The Forging of Legends). He read his first book as an audiobook on his youtube channel darkmatter2525. I found the story unique and compelling as he demonstrates the world building and character development chops from his animated videos of the Power Corrupts animated series (still waiting for the novelization of that series btw). The cast of characters in the series are introduced accordingly and have their own unique traits and features as each play a complementary role in the story; the revelations and plot twists are earned; the mystique of the world is realized and established with enough exposition but the right amount of showing and telling; the allegiances, organizations, and lore add intrigue to ; the stakes are nail biting; the emotional moments hit hard; and the ending of the series packs a giant wallop but is conclusive yet leaves the story open for more.
I do highly recommend this series. I hope it gets an on-screen adaptation someday. Has anyone else read these books?

So I recently modded my 2ds xl and decided to try and download a bunch of stuff I don’t have because of the Eshop shutting down. Some of this stuff was the mii plaza mini games that I don’t have. So I boot up hshop and search for the dlc, and it wouldn’t download when I tried to. I tried a few more times and eventually gave up, and when I closed hshop a message popped up saying that the sd card was removed, even though it wasn’t. When I closed the pop up, all my games were gone. the only things remaining were the default apps that come with every 3ds system and also my background and music(I don’t have a custom theme). Can anyone help with this? All my games are on there and I don’t want to lose them.

Older people of Reddit, need your advice!
I am F 24. For context, I have traditional Asian parents and am also the younger one in the family. I am going on a date (?) this weekend with a guy I’ve become sort of acquainted with at my job, that my family is aware of as I’ve mentioned jokingly that there’s a cute guy at my job and we make good convo. My parents although they try to encourage me to get out there and go on dates, try an app.. they aren’t very strict compared to other POC parents that I’ve seen. However, given I’m the youngest, my parents are extremely overbearing / protective of me even at my age.
With the date happening this weekend, my family so happens to just be away on vacation that I’m not going to attend, as they were the ones who told me to stay home which I could use the alone time anyways. The date happened to just be set the same weekend, and I did inform my mom of said date coming up 2x within this past week. I casually mentioned it today and she said she didn’t know it was THIS Sunday while they are gone, why did I choose such a late time to meet (4 PM is NOT late), my dad started to flip out on me claiming I intentionally chose a date while they were gone etc, I have to give my parents his number (which I find extremely weird and will not be doing, in which he proceeded to yell at me saying I have to leave his number for my parents or I can’t go).
I get why they are being this way given they’ve never met him. But I’m already sharing my whereabouts with my siblings and a close friend so I don’t see the issue- giving his number out is also extremely weird imo. Siblings have tried to reason with my parents saying it’s too much and 4 pm is not late- I’m not a “bad” kid by any means and I even stated it’s not like I’ll bring him into the house and do things and how I’m 25 and allowed to choose when to do a date. This coworker is kind and I’ve gotten to know him to a degree so I don’t see the issue…
They of course cannot fathom me saying these things and calling me all sorts of disrespectful. My dad will probably continue to yell at me to give his number or hound my siblings for it which I now have to give to them just to appease my parents for safety concerns. My parents also have narcissistic traits and I don’t know how to survive in my family / environment. Can I get some thoughts on my situation and how to handle overbearing / narcasstic parents? I’m not in a position where I can move out, so I’m stuck living at home while the cost of it is my mental health depleting.
