My husband and I are Asian and we live with his parents. Since we didn’t have a nanny for the baby yet, I was taking care of our baby full time but would get help from my in laws’ maid when I needed to shower or eat a meal. Before I got the maid’s help, our baby didn’t need to be rocked to settle. But once I started letting her help me, suddenly my baby could only settle if we rocked her. I had a difficult time not rocking her moving forward because she is a fussy baby with a loud set of lungs.
When my husband was sick for 2 weeks, I stayed at my parents’ to get some help taking care of our (at the time) 7 week old baby. My parents loved holding her but it resulted in them letting her sleep on them every time she was on them and they wouldn’t listen to me when I’d ask them to put her in the crib. I was guilty of letting her sleep on me too because I’d be alone caring for her at night and she was later going through a growth spurt that made her extra fussy, so I’d be too exhausted to put her back in her crib at 3am.
Now I’m struggling because she’s 10 weeks now, 2 weeks away from 3 months, and it seems like she’s developed a sleep association with both rocking and contact nap. If I don’t do one, I have to give her the other. Sometimes I have to rock her for as long as 30mins because she’s hysterically crying and won’t relax by being embraced by me. My in laws also tend to interfere and rock her even when I tell them I’m weaning her off it. Additionally, she wakes up not long after I put her in her bassinet and has only managed 30-40min naps in the morning.
I’m exhausted because for the past few days she’s either been under tired or overtired from the grandparents on both sides either constantly putting her to sleep when she’s supposed to be awake or keeping her awake too long when I tell them she’s supposed to sleep. It’s difficult for me to say no to my parents and in laws when they want to “help” me, I’ve already reminded them several times about what’s supposed to be done if they want to help but I just end up getting ignored.
How can I wean her off these sleep associations in time for 3 months? Or at least lessen her dependence as I continue to wean her off 3 months onward? We normally start her bedtime routine 7:30pm or 8:30pm, though it mostly depends on her naps throughout the day. She is not yet sleep trained and tends to wake sometime between 6-8am, depending on how smooth or rough the night went.

It got me thinking—what is it like to grow up in India when your parents are separated?
I don’t often see people share their experiences about this, so I’d love to hear from those who’ve lived through it. If you were raised mostly by your mother and her side of the family, how did it impact you? Did having grandparents, uncles, or cousins around make up for the absence of a father? And if your father was abusive, did his absence bring relief, or did it create other struggles?

I would like to ask for your advice regarding a financial matter between my wife and me. Two years ago, my wife lost her sister, which had a profound impact on her mental health. As a result, she was unable to work for a long time—at least a year, maybe a year and a half. During that period, I covered all our shared expenses, including rent, groceries, and other costs. That felt fair to me at the time because I was the only one earning an income, and she had none.
For the past six months, my wife has been working again, two days a week. However, I am still covering all our joint expenses. This has simply become a habit, and I never really questioned it until my family recently pointed it out, asking why she isn’t contributing now that she has an income. That got me thinking.
I believe it’s important that we not only share household responsibilities equally (which we already do) but also share financial burdens in a fair way. My idea is to contribute to our shared expenses based on a percentage of our individual incomes. Since I work full-time and earn more, my contribution would be higher in absolute terms, but we would both contribute proportionally.
Additionally, my wife has a significant student debt that existed before we got married. I kinda feel like this is now a shared responsibility, and I think it's good to help pay it off.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think this is a fair and healthy way to handle our finances?

I r have been trying to figure this out from searching online, but am spending too much time trying to figure things out only to get almost all the way to a purchase only to hit a deal breaker, (like bad in low light or overheating part way through a club set). If people can guide me to things to that would be so appreciated!

- Notes: I don't need a good mic (or any mic), that will always be done separately. I don't anticipate being in bad weather. Don't think the camera will really ever be moving while shooting.

I swear I’ve tried so hard to find this sketch but have yielded no results, the only cast member I can say for sure was in it is Will Ferrell and they start singing “we will all go down together” I think there’s this slow building of a choir and then I think at the end will is carried off on the ladder of a helicopter… it sounds crazy even just typing it out, but the tune gets stuck in my head and it drives me crazy that I can’t find it. 2025.01.31 06:10 jontestershaircut COBRA vs marketplace for gap coverage - Crohn’s disease/biologic. Best route to take?
Left private industry for Federal. My insurance with the Fed will not kick in until after my first paycheck in a couple weeks. Trying to decide what to do for an upcoming gap in coverage.
My current insurance ends after tomorrow unless I elect COBRA coverage. I filled my biologic (Yusimry) one last time today and I have another month supply refill on 2/20 if I continue coverage. My insurance pays 100% of my drug cost so if I elect COBRA I can slam one more free refill in before switch insurance.
If I pass on COBRA I can simply buy a plan off the state marketplace for a month. I would most likely not get another biologic refill on this plan - it’d basically be for a major accident (auto wreck, etc).
I have roughly a month and a half of medication left once my shipment I ordered today arrives.
I have been looking into a ton of federal plans and all of them make Yusimry very difficult to receive. Most want me to move to Hyrimoz. My doctor isn’t super concerned with moving to a new drug, but I’m concerned whatever new insurance I move to will dilly dally and fight my doctor on authorizing a new biologic. I figure if I can get one more refill in then I buy myself time if my new drug/insurance has issues.
COBRA
$880 per month.
Yusimry refill free
Decent deductible ($4,200 - 80%) and OOP max ($6,000)
State Exchange
$260-300 for a month.
Not worth going into deductible/OOP max, strictly for a major accident during gap period.
No biologic coverage/not worth dealing with it.
Could purchase Yusimry off Costco Plus Drugs at the no insurance rate and pay $550 OOP.
I could also ride out my current meds without buying a refill and hope my new job’s insurance/doctor’s office figure it out soon.
Seems like the State exchange + pay full price for Yusimry option appears to be the cheapest way forward. The nice thing about COBRA is I know everything will work out. I have the card already, my drug orders do not have issues with insurance, etc.
In a spot like this would you pay the marginally higher cost for familiarity, better coverage, etc?

Hello,
Just purchased a 200w folding solar panel for a portable power station.
However, the panel came dead on arrival. No issue for me as they replaced with barely a question asked. New one working fine.
However they have said they don't want it back. Bonus as I at least get a spare MPPT and cables out of this for free.
Problem: When problem panel is all connected, the Solar LED does not light up at all on the MPPT. Error message is Solar panel voltage is less than battery voltage + 1v. And obviously not getting any charge to my battery. Tested with the new MPPT and same issue. So problem with the panel.
Is this something that can potentially be fixed and spare the panels from the rubbish? If so, where would i start. Am new to this solar stuff.
