After learning about the suicide of the 14 year old kid in Kochi due to ragging, I am in a state of shock and angst. The increasing number of violence, drug abuse and other cases we hear about among kids every day is just alarming.
In this context, I just wanted to tell this to all parents- you should become a safe space for your kids. Someone with whom they can share any of their problems, worries or mistakes irrespective of however grave they may be. While you may be friendly with your kids, I think you should consciously make efforts to have this awareness in them that they can come to your for anything and everything in life.
Let's discuss more on this.

Has anyone else experienced this with Vimeo? We've been a loyal customer for over four years, and without any confirmation, Vimeo changed our plan without our consent.
Here’s what happened:
- Our Plus Yearly plan was set to renew, and we requested to keep our existing plan. Instead, Vimeo upgraded us to a different plan without approval.
- We reached out on January 10, 2025, asking them to fix this. They responded with generic replies but never actually addressed the issue.
- We followed up multiple times—no real answers, just “we’re looking into it.”
- Now, our subscription is set to renew tomorrow, and we still don’t know if our account will be affected.
Has anyone else had their plan changed like this? Were you able to get it fixed? What’s the best way to escalate this issue and actually get a response?
Any help or advice would be appreciated. If you’ve dealt with something similar, how did you resolve it?

What a night. Husband was out walking Sasha. I was fixing dinner and also mixing a batch of cookies. When I put the flour etc away I think I must have knocked the blue food coloring out of the cupboard and onto the floor. Meanwhile I was working with Izze on barking and had put her outside. I left the kitchen to deal with Izze. When I returned, the kitchen floor had blue food coloring everywhere! And three blue puppies! And a blue dog bed! I quickly put them all outside and grabbed the mop. I'm happy to report food coloring didn't stain the floors. And everyone got a second bath in three days.

I’ve worked in digital health at both small startups and unicorns, where privacy is critical—meaning we can’t send patient data to external LLMs or cloud services. While there are cloud options like AWS with a BAA, they often cost an arm and a leg for scrappy startups or independent developers. As a result, I started building my own hardware to run models locally, and I’m noticing others also have privacy-sensitive or specialized needs.
I’m exploring whether there’s interest in a prebuilt, plug-and-play hardware solution for local LLMs—something that’s optimized and ready to go without sourcing parts or wrestling with software/firmware setups. Like other comments, many enthusiasts have the money but the time component is something interesting to me where when I started this path I would have 100% paid for a prebuilt machine than me doing the work of building it from the ground up and loading on my software.
For those who’ve built their own systems (or are considering it/have similar issues as me with wanting control, privacy, etc), what were your biggest hurdles (cost, complexity, config headaches)? Do you see value in an “out-of-the-box” setup, or do you prefer the flexibility of customizing everything yourself? And if you’d be interested, what would you consider a reasonable cost range?
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Any feedback is welcome—trying to figure out if this “one-box local LLM or other local ML model rig” would actually solve real-world problems for folks here. Thanks in advance!

This week's artist is Nourished By Time, the project of Baltimore native Marcus Brown that eludes easy categorization but probably fits into some corner of 'bedroom indie-pop' as well as it does into anything else.
NBT is the opening act for the February leg of the upcoming Toro Y Moi/Panda Bear tour, so we're getting that whole bill at Kilby!
The NBT discography to date consists of a string of singles dating back to 2020 that eventually led up to the 2023 album "Erotic Probiotic 2" which was released by the UK indie label Scenic Route and quickly garnered NBT a following on both sides of the pond. Brown now splits his time between the US and the UK and signed to XL Records to release the follow up EP, "Catching Chickens" in 2024.
The debut album was recorded entirely in Brown's parents' basement and I think its relatively lo-fi sound struck a chord with a lot of listeners by pulling together strands of 80s synthpop, r&b, and post-punk underneath Brown's warm baritone, earnest harmonies, and heartfelt lyrics into a collection that brims with one eccentric but compelling idea after another. It became one of those unexpectedly successful and soon out of print records that people sell on Discogs for hundreds of dollars, although it's just been reissued recently on XL.
Catching Chickens sounds like Brown is determined to outdo his previous work without repeating himself, and the EP's production is smoother and more focused while keeping his explorative songwriting instincts fully intact - I think he played all of the instruments on that one too, although his more recent shows have featured two additional musicians on guitar and synths. NBT has toured with Magdalena Bay, Dry Cleaning, and played at a bunch of festivals since things kicked off, and a new album is in the works. I haven't yet caught NBT live but I'm really looking forward to it!

(Pictured above) Little poke in front wheels and back is slightly tucked but has small camber so wheel sits nicely. I’m currently looking into a new set of wheels as my tires are at (30%) since I haven’t changed from when I bought the car. Currently about to purchase some Advan RS wheels 17x9 (+40) offset. Was wondering what would be a good tire spec to go with it if anyone has any experience or expertise. Buying a new set of tires to go with it so was wondering what a good tire size would be.
