2025.01.31 08:49 274NOMORE Dying from complications of an injury that my abusive ex caused in 2021
My ex ruptured my eardrum via physical battery/head trauma back in July 2021.
August 2023 he was arrested for the first time, for a different assault against me.
March 2024 I fled by night, with only what fit in my car, moved back to my home country (USA) where I hadn’t lived in 12 years.
June 2024 the headaches started, only on my right side. At first I thought it was an ear infection, but antibiotic drops did nothing. I figured it was stress or grinding my teeth or TMJ or something. The pain was severe but sporadic and only in my right eajaw area. I didn’t have health benefits so I figured it could wait.
December 2024 my bite became misaligned. The right side no longer connected. I made an appointment with a dentist.
January 2nd 2025 the dentist gave me the shock of my life - I didn’t have TMJ. I didn’t have signs of excessive grinding. Hell, I didn’t even have a cavity. I was referred to an ENT doctor.
Fast forward 7 hospitals, 5 ENTs, a bajillion CTs and X rays and MRIs - I have been diagnosed with a “stage IV secondary acquired cholesteatoma”. My doctor said it is directly caused by the eardrum rupture in 2021.
I have no hearing in my right ear (this will likely be permanent). My right side of my face is paralyzed (they said my facial nerve has been compromised - might also be permanent). My right side head and neck is so, so swollen that I can barely swallow and it’s impacting my breathing. I had to call an ambulance two days ago because it cut off circulation in my frontal right side jugular vein. I’ve had two seizures.
I might die from this. It’s about to breach my brain through two different spots. The next steps after that happens are meningitis, brain abscess, and death.
Now that I’m in the US, I was told I’m looking at $100,000+ USD for the first two surgeries total combined. The first surgery they will remove everything in my ear, I won’t be able to hear out of that side until about a year later after the second surgery to hopefully repair hearing. They may have to remove my facial nerve. Then, I will require cleanings behind my eardrum every 6 months for the rest of my life, to be done by an ENT doctor.
I have the original diagnosis of eardrum rupture, texts admitting he did it and apologizing, and I believe the doctor would be willing to write/confirm that the issue is caused by the original trauma.
My questions: -is it possible to sue him civilly for US medical costs if the incident/attack happened in Canada? -what kind of lawyer would I need to contact for that? -what would be the jurisdiction? Relationship and the battery happened in Ontario, where he still lives. I’ve moved to the US.
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Ever since I moved into my apartment 4 months ago, I noticed I have about 2-3 german cockroach sightings per month. When I first saw the first few, I instantly bought Advion gel and put them everywhere. I am a clean person and there is literally no food or water left out. My apartment is also very simple and there is no clutter anywhere. I haven’t seen a nest anywhere, not even behind the fridge. Haven’t seen eggs either. Are these just cockroaches that are exploring that are coming from my neighbors? They are germans for sure too, and I thought they were supposed to automatically mean infestation. But I don’t even see them every day. And even with Advion I see about 2-3 a month, and they’re always babies and never adults. So maybe theres a tiny crack where only babies can fit?

I have had multiple applications out for a couple of weeks now ranging from December to literally inauguration day. None of them have moved past the received status. I get the most recent ones. I was just curious how to know if they were cancelled. Would they post an update saying the job was no longer open or just leave things in limbo?
I’m not expecting immediate results. I can’t imagine what the hiring people are going through right now. I was just wondering if I need to just go ahead and cut my losses or keep checking up on things.

There is a lovely stray kitten on my street I want to adopt. Must be a few months old as it is on its own. It keeps following me home and tonight came in to my front yard.
I already have a cat (likely related) and a dog. She hissed at it and clearly was being protective of the property.
My cat and dog tolerate each other most of the time
There are a lot of strays in this area and other kittens roaming around as well.
- Owner. I will print a paper collar tomorrow to see if it belongs to anyone. Anything else I can do?
- If noone owns it I will get it fixed. Asap
I live in a cauldersac backing on to a stream and gully. No main roads. New Zealand.

Hello all, I am able to run satisfactory successfully on Ge Force Now on my 2019 macbook intel. It runs smooth however there is pretty bad mouse latency and its not a big deal but itd be great if there was a way to remove that latency.
Especially if i want to try other games like rocket league where its more competitive.
Is this a known issue and is there a solution to this?
My wireless mouse plugged into my usb hub adaptor works perfect when not using ge force now.
