New Players: If you're completely new to Melee and just looking to get started, welcome! We recommend you go to https://melee.tv/ and follow the links there based on what you're trying to set up. Additionally, here are a few answers to common questions:
Can I play Melee online?
Yes! Slippi is a branch of the Dolphin emulator that will allow you to play online, either with your friends or with matchmaking. Go to https://slippi.gg to get it.
I'm having issues with Slippi!
Go to the The Slippi Discord to get help troubleshooting. melee.tv/optimize is also a helpful resource for troubleshooting.
How do I find tournaments near me or local people to play with in person or online?
These days, joining a local Discord community is the best way to find local events and people to play with. Once you have a Discord account, Google "[your city/state/province/region] + Melee discord" or see if your region has a Discord group listed here on melee.tv/discord
It can seem daunting at first to join a Discord group you don't know, but this is currently the easiest and most accessible way to find out about tournaments, fests, and netplay matchmaking. Your local scene will be happy to have you :)
Also check out Smash Map! Click on map and then the filter button to filter by Melee to find events near you!
Netplay is hard! Is there a place for me to find new players?
Yes. Melee Newbie Netplay is a discord server specifically for new players. It also has tournaments based on how long you've been playing, free coaching, and other stuff. If you're a bit more experienced but still want a discord server for players around your level, we recommend the Melee Online discord.
How can I set up Unclepunch's Training Mode?
First download it here. Then extract everything in the folder and follow the instructions in the README file. You'll need to bring a valid Melee ISO (NTSC 1.02)
Alternatively, download the Community Edition that features improvements and bug fixes! Uncle Punch, the original creator of the training mode, will not continue supporting the original version but Community Edition will be updated regularly.
How does one learn Melee?
There are tons of resources out there, so it can be overwhelming to start. First check out the SSBM Tutorials youtube channel. Then go to the Melee Library and search for whatever you're interested in.
But how do I get GOOD at Melee?

2025.01.31 09:01 Complete-Refuse-2350 ROSTER INFERNO
I know that the contestants joining Singles Inferno to boost fame and career is not an unpopular opinon anymore. Almost everybody wants to be the "hottest" contestant and the next big thing like dex, seulkie, and jia. The show did not feel genuine since Season 1. Yeah we all get that, but what I hate the most about this season is the fact that the contestants DO NOT HAVE THE BALLS to reject someone and they just want to keep them on their roster. I can't believe Jeongsoo literally said it on the campfire. It became an EGO competition on who has the biggest roster (their interviews during the chocolate coin proves it IJBOL) and most of them are just afraid of being left alone on the island. At least on the previous seasons the "players" STOOD on their business, they had the balls to say that they are not interested anymore instead of lying and leading multiple people on ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Nevertheless I DO NOT AGREE that this is the most boring season (I still think that season 2 is the most snoozefest) I wasn't planning to watch this season at first because I keep on seeing people ranting about how boring it is or how insufferable the contestants are which I personally disagree. I actually think that the "insufferable" contestants are kinda funny, the hated ones are still entertaining and played their roles well and there were no boring contestant even the quite ones.
Again, idk if this opinon is repetitive already because I just binge watched it yesterday after my friend said that I remind her of Hyejin LOL

Trying to setup XR starter project on Linux Specs: gtx1650 i7-10th gen OS: linux lite 7 (ubuntu 24 lts) As you can see I can run the game just fine, but the scene is flickering, how do I fix this ?  | Now that most of us here have already heard the album for the first time, I'm guessing that most of you noticed that there are a few songs missing from what we've heard before. Among those that stand out the most and I could notice, are missing: - 'Dancing In The Flames' (Removed from album due to the LA fires or because it was never a song intended for HUT) - 'In Heaven' (Prob due to album context of The Weeknd not going to heaven but looping back into 'High for This') - 'Runaway' (Prob replaced by 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' title track) First Pressing version seems to have 'Runaway' and another song called 'How It Feels', still having high hopes that we see the rest of the missing songs sooner or later, maybe with the "Deluxe" edition, would be cool having an "Alternative Ending" where the album actually ends with In Heaven or Runaway but we will see. Although I agree that he started a trend of not getting the equal share, $223k is not a bad amount to take at all considering he is one of the reasons why everyone was still there because he won the Hang Challenge for all of the remaining people there.
Yes, Twana also rejected $1M for some people and still got the equal $100k share but Deano also rejected $1M only to be bullied by everyone there for doing absolutely nothing bad at all. Which goes to show that no matter if you sacrificed for people they may still take you out and get absolutely nothing. So for me Prison Mike getting $223k is a smart move. Also I think he was genuine, he didn’t talk like his reasons for getting the money was better than others, and he didn’t throw anyone under the bus.
And yes, I didn’t like player 566 since episode 7 when he was one of the main ones bullying Deano, only for him to be the greediest of them all, threw people under the bus and act like his reasons was better than others.
And maybe an unpopular opinion (?) but I still don’t like Twana, she bullied Deano for nothing, and acts like everyone’s savior, the faces that she make make me cringe like she’s in a movie or something lol and everything she does feels calculated to me sorry not sorry
