Hi everyone. So sorry in advance for the very very long post. (28F) & I was doing GREAT TBH. I was sober almost the entire month of January. I was still very proud of myself even though I did slip up twice and have a few drinks this month. I decided to focus on the fact I had 28/31 days sober this month instead of the days I did drink. I even picked up a new hobby & I am taking guitar lessons!
But…. I didn’t go “skiing” again….. up until yesterday. Just ran into the right people somehow. Couldn’t hold myself accountable. The BIGGEST reason I’ve decided to stop drinking is because of this very reason. I become very close with a friend who often goes “skiiing”. But this person is able to moderate it. Unlike me. If I get a g? Gone ASAP. She can make a 3.5 last for months…. I’ve tried to convince myself I can. The more I spent time with her-she always had some-the more I did it-the more I couldn’t say no. It wasn’t her fault tbh. I told her NO MORE at one point and she held me accontable. I would beg for some and she would never cave. So naturally I got pissed and cut her off. The one friend who held me to my shit.
Once I learned about “skiing and drinking”…… everything changed. I CANNOT drink without wanting the other. Even on a work night. Even if I have $100 in my bank account. I’ll spend my last dollar. That’s why I decided to take accountability and tried to stop. But I have had a very stressful past 2 weeks. Both work and family reasons. And I allowed myself again to a “treat” because I “deserveeeee” it. I deserve to feel crappy about myself???? Ugh…
I used to drink in moderation. (Start of every story right?) A “normal” drinker. A glass of wine here. Maybe a cocktail after work? Probably a drinking night if I was celebrating a holiday or I LOVE CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS!! But at the time I was able to have something called LIMITS. That’s what they all try to say right? Don’t know what that is anymore. I didn’t want to accept I have problem at all. I still don’t. I want SO BADLY to be “normal.” But I keep proving to myself I can’t. I tried AA, but the women’s only meetings don’t work with my schedule. Thinking about asking my supervisor at work if I can adjust my schedule 1 day to go to the women’s meeting near me. I tried some online groups, but I need something in person. I’m working 2 jobs trying to alienate myself from being able to be social (don’t do this it makes it worse).

Since it is horrific how badly the digital user manual is for this platform in general, I am posting data here about the Media system and observations in regards to using USB for music. Please add to this as you find new tidbits!
Precursor
Android Auto and Apple Carplay have been removed from the IQ, this leads to a few questions about how one can control what audio is being played.
1.) Bluetooth works well on Android to stream pandora/samsung music playeetc. and provides track information (artwork, artist,etc.), forward/back control via the steering wheel controls and touch screen UI, fast forward/rewind via the touchscreen only, and volume control. If you are annoyed by notifications on the phone half-muting/stopping audio, you can set do not disturb or mute on the phone to control that. I use Samsung's built in app to set do not disturb when bluetooth links to the car automatically.
2.) The IQ comes with internet connectivity for a limited time and Google Play to download apps. Spotify, etc. apps are available limitely in Play store. I.e. pandora is NOT available in the app store, but there are other apps I have never heard of. Milage may vary.
3.) There are 2 USB-C ports on the left inner center console that are data ports. The one on the right by the HDMI connection is power only as are the 2 in the back seat controls below the HVAC touch screen. These data ports are not well documented, so far here is what I have found works:
a.) NTFS and exFAT formats up to 1TB. I have a samsung T7 1TB SSD formated in NTFS that worked perfectly. The UI experienced NO LAG with 30k songs on this particular SSD.
b.) Folder structures are not visible in the IQ UI, only Artist/song/playlist. Any folders made are treated as if they are a flat stucture - every song is available, just not sorted by folder. I don't like this...but as playlists are supported, I can get the same functionality by making playlists at least.
c.) I used a thin USB-C 6 inch cable and a USB c female to A female converter to be able to plug in standard flash sticks of varying sizes. They worked, but cheap usb-sticks were noticeably slower to initially load. I settled on a fast usb stick with this extension to be able to avoid snapping off a long usb-C stick in the port accidentally. I anchored the c to a converter with 3m 50lb tape and it works great to allow me to pull the usb stick and load more content.
d.) I noticed that when using exFAT, android made the same file system folders that other android 12 devices do. i.e. Movies, ringtones, etc. It DID NOT do this to NTFS which suggests exFAT is read/write and NTFS is read-only. FAT32 would not work, but I had formatted the drive on windows. I suspect if the drive was formatted via a non-native windows utility that supported GPT to MBR conversion - it might work. I also suspect ext3/ext4 would work, but have not tested it yet.
e.) Based on the note above and other forums for other Cadillacs, I loaded an mp4 into the movies folder to see if I could play them. There is no video app. I.e. Play store does not have VLC. It did not show the movie anywhere I could locate in the sound or other menus sadly.
f.) Audio quality on well encoded MP3s is much better than Sirius or HD radio as expected. It really wakes up the stereo. However ... volume is not equalized by the stereo, so depending on where you sourced your files, you might need to use a 3rd party app to level the volume on all tracks.
g.) I have the Sport 2 w/o 2nd row executive which has the AKG 36 speaker system. I listened to the Sport 1 and it is a marginal improvement for someone who is used to stereos in higher end vehicles in general. It isn't going to pound down the block, but its good enough.
h.) If for some reason you have a UI issue on any screen, hold down the hang up phone symbol on the steering wheel for 15 seconds and it reboots the screens.

So the question is - I don't remember what they are called exactly (I'm talking about those missions with Zola's face), but I've been playing one yesterday on max difficulty and throughout the whole game random people were joining, typing something like "balls. restart." and leaving. By the time I reached the twins boss fight there were no other players in the party and, since DT's bots are braindead, I subsequently got my ass smeared all over the floor. Why were people leaving just like that?

It has been a hard 6 months for me, I have lost both my older dogs in the space of these 6 months. They were with me for a significant portion of my life and always kept me moving forward and going day to day. My Doberman Keke passed 6 months ago, we had to get her euthanised due to her being unwell and an internal bleed. I had my retriever cross who also struggled with the loss but we did so together, on Wednesday we had to get him euthanised due to a bone mass that had metastasized on his lungs. He died in my arms peacefully. But I am traumatised by both of my dogs passing, struggling to cope, just feel utterly useless. Not only was I still grieving Keke, I now have lost my boy Harley in such a short space of time. I was convinced that they would be with me forever. They grew up together for 11 years and grew older with me. My best friends. I find myself sitting or laying down and just zoning out for long periods of time. Does this ever get easier? My house feels too quiet and I can’t bear how eerie it is. So much so I do not even want to be in my house. Dog toys are still scattered around, their bed is still under the stairs, their leads are still hanging next to the front door and their bowls are still in my kitchen. How do we get through this?
