In 20 Hours in America (S4E1), Josh asks Sam to staff the President while he, Tony and Donna are stuck in Indiana. Josh and Sam make it seem like Sam doesn’t spend much time in the Oval Office counselling President Bartlett. We also see Ed and Larry in the room and tell Sam where to stand.
Does the President spend more time with Ed and Larry? I wonder if they give him more advice than Sam does. I know the show positions Sam as a main player in the Bartlett administration but this episode made me realize how Sam probably only see the President once or twice a week and advises him on specific communications projects, whereas the rest of the senior staff and then Ed and Larry see him multiple times a day and advise on more general matters.

As I am suffering my second miscarriage in a row, I have finally decided (with my doctor’s full support) to take time off work. I need to heal and start taking care of myself again. I can definitely sense that I am falling into a depression and I need to fight myself out of it. I usually love my job; I’m a secretary in an elementary school. It is such a fun mix of office work like accounting and purchasing, and taking take of tiny humans when they’re sick and hurt. But lately it has been hard for me to be there. One of the teachers is about 6 or 7 months pregnant (which is where I would be if my first pregnancy had stuck…), and all she does is complain. And I get it, I made it to 9 weeks and the symptoms are tough, I can only imagine how uncomfortable it is to get into the third trimester. But it’s just too much for me right now. I would kill to be uncomfortable!! Sigh. This is just a rant. And maybe a reminder to others to take the time you need to make sure you’re OK!

Continuously shuts off and requests more water even though the tank is full. Apparently a common glitch. Some Redditors seem to have fixed the issue by raising and lowering the tank, thus flushing the line. Has not worked for us. An employee in Fellow’s retail store speculates that it’s a firmware problem but offered no solution. Annoying: if a coffee maker costa more than $300 it had better work reliably.

I see packages left right up against the door that people are 1000 percent going to trip on/are needlessly stealable 15x a day, but today I was at a stop that was especially stupid - it was a porch with a built-on ramp clearly for someone in a wheelchair. They could have walked 10 steps up to the porch and left it off to the side, where there was a stand. Instead, they walked 5x that up the ramp just to put it in a spot that both clearly blocked the screen door AND the whole ramp. Y'all must just do this out of spite, because you can't be this stupid.
