I’m not familiar with Japanese cultural nuances on Valentine’s Day, but I’ve been reading about “honmei” and “giri” choco. It appears that “giri,” or obligation chocolate, are those that women give to male co-workers and friends to show appreciation and respect as opposed to “honmei”, or “true feeling” which is expensive or homemade chocolate that is given to romantic partners. So what did Akane give?
Arguments for giri: It’s so small and not homemade, with no written note. Maybe she felt obligated, they do live together after all.
Argument for honmei: The candy is individually boxed, with a texture that suggests it’s a decorative truffle-thing from one of those overpriced specialty chocolatiers. Even if it’s not homemade, it’s clearly expensive. She tells him, “I got it just for you.”
I argue that it’s honmei, and that he only wanted it from her, despite getting homemade chocolates from other girls. But those more familiar with Japanese culture, what do you think? Did she in fact admit her true feelings? 💝

I'm a 20 y/o trans man, and would appreciate some input on my situation, as I am unsure of what direction to go in.
I initially started testosterone HRT in January 2024, but that stint only lasted in April 2024. This is because my endocrinologist at the time prescribed me with 3-6x the amount of testosterone that an AFAB individual should start on. I was overweight already, but I gained about 40lbs in those three months, got super flat feet, was sleeping all day, and wound up with some liver damage that showed up on blood tests. I went off HRT and my body felt a lot better, but I got wildly dysphoric when I started to get periods again and my weight distributed more femininely. After I felt better, I started testosterone again with a different doctor and very low dose in September 2024, and have been on it since. I feel a lot of the intense weight gain and lethargy side effects coming back, even though I eat very healthily, walk everywhere I can, and work out 2x a week in addition.
As for my gender identity, I feel very masculine, but it's a queer brand of masculinity. Though I sometimes doubt if I'm actually a man, between how I have sensitivity that a lot of men lack, and perhaps my transness is a subconscious response to things I've endured growing up.
Some important questions that I hope you all could address. What could be the matter with my body, why is it reacting so negatively? How can I masculinize/stop periods without testosterone? Any tips on navigating identity/expression as a transmasc who wouldn't be on HRT (but with a super passing voice)? I'm worried about stopping HRT due to the accessibility to testosterone under this presidential administration; should I be scared in a blue state?
I have an appointment with my doctor and with my therapist soon (lately, they've been booked and sick, respectively) where I aim to discuss all of this in depth. I appreciate your time reading and look forward to responses!
