Hi everyone,
I’m visiting Japan in March to run the Tokyo Marathon and I’m really excited to discover the local running culture! As a trail and ultra runner, I love learning about how running is perceived in different countries. I’d like to immerse myself in the Japanese running scene—whether that’s through events, clubs, or even iconic running spots. I’ll be visiting Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka
Also, I’m on the lookout for running (and trail running) gear from Japanese brands, ideally items that could double as lifestyle wear. I’d love to bring back some unique pieces as a way to remember this trip. Are there any must-visit running shops or brands in Tokyo? I’ll be staying in Shinjuku, but I’m happy to explore other parts of the city for great recommendations!

2025.02.01 23:00 Nykcul Help! Mystery Allergy to ingredient in Thailand?
Hi ThaiFood - I have a mystery for you. I have a intermittent food allergy (Hives, flushing, etc.) which has plagued me for years. To my frustration, I have never been unable to identify the allergen through any conventional testing or tracking.
On a recent visit to Thailand, I had flare up for 9 days straight, presumably from some ingredient in the food. This was a surprise as I am no stranger to Thai food - at least as it exists here in the US. I have eaten many Southeast Asian dishes here and have never had an issue.
Best I figure is that there is some common ingredient in "Thailand-Thai-food" which is not commonly used in US based Thai food. Does anyone here know of such ingredients?
Additional info:
- The symptoms started after the first in-flight meal (Bibimbap) on Korean Air. This is how I know it was food and not plants, pollen, mold, etc.
- The symptoms persisted throughout the trip: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui. So I don't think it was regional.
- Yes, I know that severe allergies/anaphylaxis can spontaneously develop if I keep willingly exposing myself to the allergens. Let's keep this thread focused on possible allergen identification :)

 | Hello everyone, I bought these binoculars back in 2023 and I have noticed recently that the focusing knob won’t catch and focus, it just spins. I’ve tried tightening both knobs pictured with no luck. I am able to manually focus the binoculars but it’s a pain in the ass and if I pull too much the eyepieces separate from the assembly. I know Meade is unfortunately out of business but I love these binoculars for outdoor and Astro. Does anyone have suggestions on a DIY fix I can do or a repair place I can send them? Hello everyone, been reading this sub for past 5 months since i got injured around that time. I do not know if I even belong here actually, I had accident where i fell down the stairs 5 months ago , I broke my C5, C6, T4 and T7, injured my spinal cord in C5 ,C6 region. Right after the accident i could not move at all , neither hands neither legs, after few hours i was able to move my legs and hands till my elbows , pain was insane ( in hands ) , and my legs were numb so was my torso , i had surgery to stabilise myC6, spent 3 months in neck collar and very tight corset so only thing i could do was to work with my hands mostly, some PT but since a half of my body packed , motions were very limited ,so i did hand exercises 10 times a day , i would say 5 or 6 h a day just focusing on my hands , at 5 months now i have regained control over my fingers and pain has decreased steadily as wall , all i have left with right now is very tight torso, very strange feeling there , feels like i m still in corset even without it , but that is also decreasing, i m walking , and building my strenght back. I know I'm considered to be very lucky , even my surgeon told me that after the surgery , he very surprised that i m able to move around and walk from what he saw after the surgery. what i have been trough these months was insane , but probably nothing compered to most of members here, I do not even know why i am writing this , but it just felt i need to , like i said i do not even know if I belong here, just wanted to say that i have read most of posts here , and people here felt very caring and willing to hope and support each other, I just wish all the best , and happiness and stay strong , no meter what.
