So I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm going to be finding a new to us washer and dryer in the VERY near future, but I wanted to update and maybe get a little more help with diagnosing the problem.
This was my last post about 2 months ago, and the consensus was, the motor is on it's way out. I took it apart today, cleaned all the lint from the face of the dryer, pulled the drum out, and the belt was a little frayed. Ok, I have a new one I bought like 2 years ago for a problem that ended up being the slide bearings.
I didn't pull the motor assembly out, but I was spinning the shaft and "they" tell me I should be able to hear the centrifugal switch clicking as it spins. This was not the case, however. It spins freely with little resistance, but zero audible or feeling of a click as it spun.
Looking at the idler pulley while cleaning all the dust off, there was a 7/16 nut press fit onto the end of the rod? Also the rod to the bend is about 6" and the roller is free to slide back and forth that whole length. While moving it back and forth, I noticed a switch being tripped under the base of the idler pulley rod, which I was told was the interlock switch. Could this be the culprit?
I replaced the belt, pushed the nut further down the rod so there was less movement from the roller, hoping this would solve my issues. It did not.
Started it up after putting it all back together, sounded quieter, ran about 10 minutes and stopped, again while "Drying" is still lit. After smacking it, it would start again, but now I'm getting noise from either the belt (brand new) or bearings. This dryer has over 10 years of use from us, and has been fairly faithful until the last few years, but is it worth it to replace and fix to sell (fully disclosing issues, of course) or just setting it out for someone to scrap?
Also wondering if it's making that sound from not completely cleaning and regreasing the pulley roller. I'm tired of this, Grandpa!

 | I just bought the materials for my first workbench. I'm going to let it sit for 4-6 weeks, but I was inspecting it just now and I saw a small crack in one of the pieces. I am going to build Rex Krueger's Quick Stack bench. This particular piece with the crack could become part of the stretcher (glued to another piece on the edge), or it could become a leg (glued to another piece on the face). I imagine that strength is more important for the legs than for the stretchers. So if there's a risk that this crack could weakn the wood, the crack should go on a stretcher. Am I right?
