I met this girl in class—we had some similarities, like being from the same hometown and both transferring in. I would consider myself pretty decent looking but she was out of my league. I first saw her at an event and had no problem introducing myself. But when it came to actually talking to her in class, I froze up. I only managed to say hi once. See I’m usually a pretty outgoing person and great with first impression, just shitty at keeping them up. Over break, I told myself I’d come back bolder.
Next quarter, we had another class together. After two attempts where I chickened out, I finally said hi, and the next week, she greeted me first at our apartment complex. We later had a long conversation after class, and she even gave me a ride home. Things were looking up, so I decided to take a shot and invited her to pregame with my friends, letting her know she could bring people.
She didn’t seem interested—she didn’t ask anything back and kept mentioning she was heading to the library, which I took as a polite way to turn me down. I won’t lie, I was a little bummed, but I’m still glad I put myself out there. Fortune didn’t favor the bold this time, but maybe next time it will.

Hello, any Pentax camera experts in this Subreddit. To preface this post, I know basically nothing about cameras.
I have recently come into possession of an original late 70s Pentax K1000 camera from my Grandfather. The only issue is that it doesn't work anymore; it's been sitting on a shelf for probably near decades at this point.
I decided to take it to a local camera shop, and they told me that the "mirror is not coming down," along with some other issues, and how it would cost ~$200 just to send it off to someone to examine it, let alone the costs of the actual repair.
I would absolutely love to get it repaired so I can use it myself, but for someone with very minor experience with photography, spending hundreds of dollars to even start taking photos it just too steep for me.
Does anyone have any advice as to where/how I can get it repaired for a reasonable cost?
*I should also mention I live in the Washington D.C area, if anyone knows a specific shops or anything that may be able to take a look.

Hello everyone. I'm a guy and I'm 38 and, especially through the holidays and contemplations throughout, realizing I don't really have any solid friends or other connections.
I live in the northeast US, some of my interests include gaming, arts and crafts, models and Legos and all kinds of puzzle or assembly things. Sometimes I also write, or paint, but I am most passionate about my photography work.
My job isn't too amazing, but its allowing me to work through (hopefully) two different degree programs, on top of the two I already have. I hope to find jobs that help people but also feel rewarding or apply to my passions and interests.
As for immediate needs, I might want to rant about how my family drives me insane, especially recovering from the holidays, but I don't have to.
