2025.02.02 05:00 Scorpios94 The Hood’s Mantles and Names
DC has played with giving Jason a new identity and transitioning him to be a more clean cut hero. Jason himself had a stint with the Red Hood Gang as a kid trying to support his heroin-addicted mother. (This parallels how according to a possible origin story in The Killing Joke, the Joker was originally a family man who became the Red Hood to support his wife and unborn child.)
Using this part of the backstory, the Red Hood identity seems to be Jason's way of connecting back to his roots as someone born and raised in the worst part of Gotham, crossing the line in order to keep himself and his family alive. In this way, the Red Hood identity isn't simply a shackle tying him to the Joker, but Jason taking back a symbol of Gotham that the Joker himself has stolen.
But there are some alternative names I think that he could use.
- Flamebird: I often thought that Flamebird could suit him as it could evoke Phoenix-like vibes in him being reborn. Even though Dick claimed the Nightwing mantle in being inspired by Superman, I’m not sure about how Jason would go about it.
- Grey Ghost: I know that people (including myself) want Tim to be Grey Ghost, but that could equally suit Jason. It almost serves the same purpose as Red Hood with Jason taking something personal to Bruce and mocking him.
- Grim Knight/ReapeDeathwing: The symbolism of his death and rebirth mirrors Joker's in a way that could be argued is even better than his relationship with Batman (not that there aren't a million other reasons the JokeBatman dynamic is unmatched).
I’d also go with the Grim Knight and Reaper, in an interchangeable manner. It’s already noted that Bruce has essentially outgrown the notion of being a Dark Knight. But that could suit Jason, in a desire to be like Batman. And with his association with death, he would be a Grim Knight; a Reaper. His base suit tends to be gray and more armored than the other vigilante suits, not to mention that most "Knight"-like armor tended to be decorated with color so him keeping the red in his suit wouldn’t be too terribly off base either,
- Wrath/Scorn/Vengeance: I often thought that thematically speaking, that codenames like Wrath, Scorn and Vengeance would work. It's always gonna be a part of Jason no matter how much he would move beyond it. It's what Bruce had noted about him.
- MaraudeMockingbird/Revenant: The name of Marauder would suit him. It could serve as a reference to his past as a marauder can be defined as thief. But also serve as a subtle literature reference to The Fist Marauder, which is a story about vengeance. Revenant does the same as it serves as a nod to his resurrection and a story that deals with vengeance after being left for dead. Mockingbird in general fits him for his story both thematically and as a literature reference
- Red Death/EnforceNemesis: Red Death and Enforcer would suit him. They’re both bad ass. Enforcer could also evoke some Punisher-vibes in how he sees himself. Nemesis could suit him in that same capacity, in how he views himself and how others see him. In that vein, Nemesis is almost synonymous with Outlaw and with Dick's previous alias of Renegade.
- Dumas/Paladin: This sounds a bit weird but bear with me. It does sound like it'd come from the Order of St. Dumas at first glance. But it was a name of a Manhunter villain, that the OG Manhunter would use as an alias. Along with a nod to literature, being French novelist and playwright Alexandre Dumas, Duma(h) also serves a religious nod. Duma(h) is an angel of silence and of the stillness of death. Dumah is also the tutelary angel of Egypt, prince of Hell, and angel of vindication. All bearing themes to Jason as a whole. (Actually, this could suit Michael Lane if and when he comes back into the fold.)
Some honorary names that I like that could fit him:
- Crimson Avenger: Just a different name for Red Hood that fits him quite well
- Red Ronin: I've seen it passed around, and I like it.
- Phantasm: Pretty much the same reason as ReapeGrim Knight but take the place of Andrea Beaumont.
- Wingman: That identity was the pinnacle of Jason’s peak redemption that got botched later on.
- Hellhound: another identity centered on the notion/aspect of death and a badass one that suits him.
- Shrike: I heard it in passing as an identity that Tim could use, but I think it also fits Jason. A shrike is symbolic for precision, focus, and adaptability. And in literature, it represents a jealous and violent love, and a longing for an emotional connection with a distant partner, which could fit Jason's themes and stories. And it fits him better than the supposed rival of Dick.

hi, I'm Rosie and I'm new here, at first i didn't know what i wanted to do or what i wanted to say so i decided to let you guys know a little bit about me. growing up i didn't have the best life but we made it work, i always came from a struggling house hold and everything like that, you know how it is when you are in poverty but you have kids so you have to figure out ways to know let them see you struggling, yeah that's what my family was most of the time, when i got older i found out what struggling actually looked like and boy was i not ready for it, it hit me hard, but i managed and i told myself that poverty didn't have to be the answer, that i don't have to struggle to actually be strong, i guess I'm just rambling but more about me let's see, i played piano for about 4 years of my life actually i still have my piano and i play it occasionally, i used to play guitar for about 2 years before i had to stop due to me not being able to pay for my lessons or go anywhere due to parents and stuff, i also used to play the saxophone for a while, I was a real jazz head hahaha, i see now that I'm a good jazz singer and I've been singing my whole life actually, i grew up with musicians, and artists of all kinds, i paint and draw in my spare time but I'm not that good of a drawer really, I'm a Christian I'm still trying to get the hang of it. all these trials and tribulations really kicking my butt lol. I'll try to manage though, i keep trying to grow in my faith because i know at the end its all going to be worth it and i won't have to worry about anything and i can just give it to God and stiuff, often times i have a hard time of letting things go because im scared of change, scared that the change might hurt or scared that the change might not be what i needed or deserved after all, here im going to be posting tea and gossip and stuff from my life filling you guys in on all the juicy gosip along with my stories and stuff like that if you want to check it out and stuff so. im not promoting or anything its just simply you know just trying to filll bofred peoples minds since no body really be on reddit like that anymore and stuff i thoughti would just spill some tea and stuff to yall and fill yall in, all the peoples names will be hidden so if yourr name is in it. it was completely confidential. i dont really know what to talk about up here im just bored and wnted to introduce myself but my adhd got in the way i swear im not this slow irl (im lying so hard i am a little slow lol) but anyway yeah that a little bit about me but if you want to learn a little bit more about me and all that just come to my page im going to be deffinatly doing some stuff also tell me what you want to hear as well, like dont be afraid to ask me questions and stuff like im always here for you and the juicy secrets cuz you know i keep my mouth closed and my slteep clear just in case lol. anyway goodnight yall. i love yall and hope yall have a good night. mwah stay safe.

2025.02.02 05:00 nishilchess i (17m) just got broken up with by my unofficial gf (16f). did i get led on?
i was introduced to my gf through mutuals in early november of 2024, and we kicked it off really well. we fted every couple days, went on dates every 2-3 weeks, texted each other a lot (on both imessages and instagram), even sent voice messages to each other. worth noting that we go to different schools but live 20 min away from each other. over winter break, we went to the mall and thats the first time we ever held hands in public and first time we kissed (we made out there). we also exchanged christmas gifts there. for my birthday, my parents got me 2 suite tickets to an nfl game, so obvi i went with her. we had a blast and made out there as well. she got me a bday gift and card, which explicitly said "in case you werent sure i really like you" (i was very skeptical about her liking me at some times, prob me overthinking; id ask her best friend who im also friends with, and her bsf said "dude she made out with you obvi she really likes you"). when midterms started, we both stopped talking to each other as much since we were studying. the friday after midterms, she said shes free all day sunday to call. on sunday, her first reply back to me was at 5pm saying shes free to ft in a bit. she doesnt call me so i call her at 6, no response, she replies at 9 saying she can call but cant talk, so i just say all good we can talk tmrw. on monday morning, she tells me shes free at 5 (which is also when i was gonna get home- perfect!). her best friend texts me at 6 saying that my gf will be home in an hour (theyre out doing smth). ok but why is my gf not telling me that? why is it her best friend? (no her phone didnt die or anything like that.) we end up fting monday night and i bring up communication and ask if we can spend more time with each other now that midterms are over, she says she can try. we also try to get the details straight for a date on wednesday (jan 29) which is also the day i was planning on asking her to officially be my gf. she says she prob cant do it on wednesday and if we can reschedule to sunday (feb 2). on the tuesday (jan 28), she ft me and says she doesnt think we have enough time for each other, and its too hard because we both go to different schools and dont see each other enough, and this entire time the relationship has only given "friendly vibes". she had to go immediately, so i couldnt question anything, but did she really mean it when she said she only thought of me as a friend? we made out, bought stuff for each other, said we really like each other, ive paid for everything like meals and movie tickets, as well as paying for suite tickets to an nfl game (technically my family paid, but she went for free)- not things id do for my friends. sorry if this post is weird, its my first reddit post. but did she really like me and not know how to end things with me or did i get led on by my gf? note she is not a bop, i was her 2nd man, and it was a over year after things were ended with her first.

2025.02.02 05:00 Butwhatif77 The things senators who served in the Old Republic, Imperial Senate, and New Republic must have been wild.
We know there are at least a hand full of senators who were there during the Old Republic, continued during the Empire, and lived to see the New Republic such as Mon Mothma and almost Bail Organa. A series exploring what that must have been like would be extremely interesting, we got some of it in Andor with Mon Mothma, but a deeper look at what exactly it was like would be pretty interestings.
We could see an ensemble cast where some are genuinely trying to represent their people to the best of their ability, others who are in it just for the power, and the struggles of dealing with the system changing not just once, but twice in such a massive way. A senator on top during the Old Republic could easily lose their clout during the Empire and new upstarts willing to do whatever is needed to gain power, then another drastic shift with the fall of the Empire and them just trying to keep things running until the New Republic is actually established.
I think there is so much potential for stories that could share the vibe we love of Star Wars just in a different way.
