It doesn't get better does it? Im only 17 and yet I have no desire to continue. I feel lost and I know that I'm the only one who can dig myself out of this hole but I can't bring myself to do it. I wallow in my own self pity instead of being a functioning member of society. Is it worth it?

2025.02.02 05:54 N0SC0P3R_rich Rejected from UMD, Where do you guys think I should go now?
For context, I'm an American citizen studying internationally. I was born in DC but moved abroad due to family reasons. Now, I’m planning to return to the U.S. for college. UMD was my only goal since I have really close family in Maryland and the university is amazing. Sadly, I wasn't accepted and now I'm left with one of two options; Rutgers or UMBC.
On one hand, Rutgers is an amazing school with tons of opportunities and a lively campus. However, it's really expensive for out-of-state students, and not knowing anyone in NJ makes it even tougher.
UMBC is close to home, and I have a lot of friends and family in the DMV area. The downside is the weak social life, and it's not ranked as well as Rutgers.
I plan on trying to transfer to UMD after my first year but also want a strong backup in case I'm rejected again. For those who’ve been in a similar situation, what would you recommend?

After seeing a few negative warranty experiences posted in a row recently, I was worried that I'd be disappointed when it came time to send something in myself. That time finally came, and I'm glad to say that for me, this was one of the better warranty experiences I've had full stop.
My ~6 month old M18 orbital sander (2648-20) suddenly started cutting out while working with no reason (multiple fresh batteries, under load or no load, sometimes after 5m, sometimes 30). I was worried they would be lazy diagnosing and just send it back after seeing it work for a minute.
I'm not sure if this is typical (I thought it said I would pay for shipping while filling out the claim), but I started the claim with nothing but the serial number and was provided a prepaid fedex barcode. I shipped my bare sander on a Monday, paying only for the fedex packaging. I was notified they had it by Tuesday, and on Thursday it was marked as under repair. Saturday, I got an email that my tool was delivered back to me. I was even more worried now that they just shipped my broken took back, but to my pleasant surprise, I opened the box to find that they had shipped me a brand new sander including all the attachments and extra pads.
This good customer service honestly made my week. The fast turnaround and no BS replacement lets me finish my sanding project this weekend, and I'll be happily sticking with Milwaukee for all my home improvement projects going forward. Props to everyone that handled my warranty claim!
