Hey guys physics and data science undergrad here, it’s my first time ever applying to something like that and I just found out about it on Friday… which sucks because I would applied to like 10-15 had I known earlier so I’m trying to get a good foot into the one i’m applying to. I’ve spent the entire day today writing my answers for the additional questions and each one (noting long answer) has a 5000 character limit. I’m not quite reaching 5000 (2-3000’s), should I be worried? it’s due in about 3 weeks so maybe i can slowly keep adding on for a good quality final product
also this reu (UCR data science pipeline) doesn’t ask for references or personal statements, should I be adding that to my application materials anyway?

Idk if Mods are just forget about this part, or so many of this sub residence just never read this rule as well.

So, I was supposed to meet my girlfriend at this café near Jubilee Hills. She brought two of her friends along, and I thought it’d be a good idea to call my friend too—he’s never met her before, and I figured, kya hi hoga? Big mistake.
We all sat down, ordered coffee, and for the first few minutes, everything was normal. But suddenly, this guy flipped. Out of nowhere, he started saying weird stuff, like calling her friends random names. I was already feeling awkward, but then he dropped a bomb.
One of her friends mentioned how I had helped them out with something before, and this idiot goes, “Arre, toh tum khud kaam kyun nahi karti? Jab husband kaam nahi karega, toh kya yeh aake tumhare saath soyega kya?”
Bhai, I was just sitting there, frozen. I couldn’t believe what he’d just said. Her friends immediately stood up and left, obviously pissed. My girlfriend gave me a look I’ve never seen before—like pure disappointment—and left too, without even letting me drop her home. That’s never happened before.
I was left sitting there like a total fool, while this guy acted like nothing even happened. I still don’t get what got into him; he’s never behaved like this before.
Now I’m just trying to figure out how to fix this. I’ve already apologized, but I don’t know if that’s enough. Should I cut this guy off completely? How do I make things right with my girlfriend and her friends?

 | Hi there I am here to ask for some suggestions. I’m new to trapping, but recently stumbled upon these cats that I’ve been feeding for over a month now. I was able to get in contact with another couple trying to do the same. They successfully caught one of the kittens. I’ve tried a couple times now with this trap I got from Amazon. The problem is the kitten im currently trying to catch, has been caught in a trap before and is very smart. He knows exactly what it is. Do you guys have any suggestions for hard to trap cats ? Hello my first reddit post. I'm in my late 50s, 6'3" 235lbs, active, ran 4 miles today without issue. My BP was typically 135/85 for years but started creeping up to some around 150/90, doc put me on 50mg Losartan which seemed to control it for about 6 months but then had two Stage 2 Hypertension events where I felt so horrible l thought it might be heart related but it wasn't in my chest really. Almost went to the ER but it subsided after several hours so I didn't. But still felt sick/ill for days afterwards. Doc bumped me to 100mg Losartan, 4 days later blood pressure now 130/70ish and I occationally i feel ill, slight nausea, slight dizzyness, tension-like pain on jawline, occational pain on inside of upper arms, etc. Any input on if this could be due to side effects of 100mg Losartan, or my lower diastolic (down 20 pts), or me adjusting to 100mg Losartan, or something else?

Hello everyone.
I am in a bit of a pickle when it comes to how to proceed, and I am sure that some of you might have had the same issue as me, and I was hoping that I will get some answers since I couldn't find any, and other subreddits left me with no answer lol.
I am in the process of applying to the J-1 exchange Teacher's program. I am still in the process of waiting for an agency, but that's not the point.
The issue I have is that my nationality is different to my country of residence. For context, I have been living my entire life in country A, but my nationality is from country B.
All my ties to include property, work, education, business, immediate family, friends, and legal obligations are in country A.
To my understanding, I have to demonstrate strong ties to my "home country", which is country B in this example, in order to successfully obtain a visa.
However, I didn't choose to be brought up here my entire life and have all my ties be in country A. I literally have not a single thing that ties me to country B.
Does that mean I should just give up on the idea of applying for the J-1 Exchange program?
Also some context which might affect this. I was denied a B2 visa 2 years ago for failing to provide non-immigrant intent, a mistake on my part for not doing my research and gathering all my documents and just going in blind expecting to make it work lol.
What do you guys make of this? Should I proceed with my application, or are my circumstances too impossible to overcome?

I want to put a cat door inside my bedroom door. I obviously can't do it myself.
I can't drill holes in the existing door, so I have to buy a new door for sure.
I have two options:-
- Buy a door and then get a carpenter to install the cat door in it.
- Buy a door with a cat door pre installed.
How can I go about this? I'm hoping to get this done in less than 500$ ideally but can spend more if needed.
