Hi namenerds! We're expecting our 5th child and don't know the sex yet. Our older 4 children all have a pattern to their names, as in, they all start with the same letter. We didn't really plan it that way, but our favorite girl name started with M, and then our favorite boy name started with M, and then we figured we might as well roll with it. The names are something like:
Marjane Mehdi Mona Milad
For a boy, we'll probably go with Madan or with Milo if we're feeling more western.
The thing is, ever since I was young, I always wanted a little girl named Imogen. I think it's such a beautiful name and the nickname Immy is darling. I always had the idea of using it in the back of my head, but there were other names I liked better in that moment or to coordinate with the sibling set. Pro, the other names are ethnic-sounding and Imogen is not, so it seems like I'm naming her after a friend/mentodearly departed pet. Con, the other names are ethnic-sounding and Imogen is not, so it'll seem like she was adopted.
Would it be a terrible/comical idea to break the pattern? Does the fact that M is the second letter make it better? We could also do an M name and put Imogen in the middle. There's a chance we might push it to one more kid after this, in which case it won't be that big of a deal, but if this is our last child, I'd feel bad for her to be the odd one out.

Estoy adicto al móvil. Lo tengo siempre conmigo y leo (y veo) muchas cosas en él. Afortunadamente, también sé cuando debería dejarlo de un lado y simplemente disfrutar del momento. Sin embargo, por desgracia es una habilidad que muchas personas no dominan.
Es decir, en los conciertos siempre hay una ingente cantidad de personas que quieren grabarlo todo. Levantan la mano con el móvil y así tienes que seguir el concierto a través de la pantalla de algún cretino en vez de poder verlo en vivo. A mí me fastidia mucho y estoy contento de que cada vez más salas tengan una póliza más estricta que prohíbe el uso de los móviles dentro de la sala principal.
No obstante, por muy molesto que pueda ser ese comportamiento, puede ser mucho peor. Para muestra un botón: el año pasaba se ahogó un niño de diez años en un parque acuático sueco. Cuando los médicos llegaron al sitio, otros asistentes del parque no querían abrirles camino porque estaban demasiado ocupados grabando todo el incidente. Es decir, un niño estaba muriéndose y ni siquiera querían apartarse durante unos segundos para que pudieran pasar los sanitarios. Es casi distópico.
Lo que más me molesta de esta historia es que aparentemente ni siquiera es un delito, así que no pueden hacer nada contra esa gentuza. Por eso, espero que introduzcan leyes para sí poder castigar a esa gente y deshacernos al máximo de ese comportamiento asocial en auge.

NYT - Several weeks after President Trump won the election, he invited Marc Rowan, the co-founder and chief executive of Apollo Group, the giant private equity and credit firm, to Mar-a-Lago for a job interview to become the Treasury Secretary. Rowan, who is arguably one of the most powerful financiers in the world, spoke with Trump but ultimately did not get the job. (Scott Bessent did.)
But since then he has become an increasingly influential voice on economic policy in President Trump’s orbit and even among some Democrats — and he has been pitching a very specific plan.
Rowan, the C.E.O. of Apollo, is a champion of a budget model for the federal government that he helped fund at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he is chair of the school’s board of advisers. Called the “Penn Wharton Budget Model,” it involves cutting taxes, but also cutting almost every tax exemption; increasing the capital gains tax rate; creating a carbon tax and rewriting the rules of immigration and health care. Its suggestions — which according to the model could by 2054 create a 38 percent reduction in federal debt, a 21 percent increase in G.D.P., and a 7 percent increase in wages — are likely to draw both boos and applause from Republicans and Democrats alike.
We’ll probably hear a lot more about the idea as crucial budget talks approach this summer.

I am in a friend group of 4. Recently, I had a one-sided falling out with one of my friends/classmates a week after that classmate’s birthday (of which my friend invited me to the birthday party and asked me to bring a food I’ve made before). What do I do?
Let’s set the scene. November before last I was considering dropping my program because Classmate B was saying so many negative comments on my appearance, behaviors, relationship with my boyfriend, you name it. I cried to my boyfriend (who is not fond of B at all) about what was going on with B and was looking to see what programs I could still apply to and get accepted in. I even emailed my advisor and asked to schedule a meeting to start the process of dropping. My boyfriend was completely supportive of my decision to drop but asked me to stick it out through the semester so I could get my grades. Going back to my friend group, Classmate A had to step in multiple times and tell B that B’s comments were enough. Classmate C never commented on the mattewasn’t there when it occurred. However, later on B attempted to apologize to me (where B noted that I received more of the brunt of B’s behavior than A or C). I accepted it and moved on. B even came to me for advice several times about situations where “I was the only one who could help.” Since then the B I encountered in private was a 180 degree difference from the B I would see when A and/or C were around. B in private was kind, funny, easy to joke with, and was excited to make future plans with me. B in front of A and/or C was curt, dismissive, hard for me to make laugh, and focused on A/C’s attention, even if I was talking to B. Even the text messages from B+me and B+me+others are different.
Last Wednesday I was on campus. I was with Classmate A and Classmate B’s (who I had the falling out with) birthday got brought up. Apparently the plan was to go to a restaurant on Thursday. I was unaware of this. I asked if if was just a roommate thing (A, B, and Classmate C live together), to which A looked at me and said “no?” like I was supposed to know about the plans already. I verbally expressed my frustration about my lack of knowing what was going on and stated that is what I have a phone for. A sympathized and said they understood my frustration. This is a key point for later.
Thursday passed by without much issue.
Friday the plans were to go out to celebrate. I was ready at 8 and was waiting for the text to tell me I could go over to their apartment. 8:30 passes, nothing. 9 passes, nothing. Around 9:30 I text in our group chat asking if I could come over and I had been ready for over an hour. Only then was I met with any response about the plans and received a snarky response from A about how they had been waiting for over an hour. I was told by B to meet them at the place (I was DDing that night). I called my boyfriend and I am furious; I was thinking, “If I had not texted in the group chat, was no one going to tell me about the plans?” I suck it up and enjoy the night; it’s not my birthday, so I’m not going to make a scene. The rest of Friday passes without much issue. During the night B apologizes to me about the confusion and assures it was a genuine mistake (this is not the first, second, or fifth time a situation like this has occurred). I accepted the apology and move on with my night.
Saturday comes and I’m running late for the party because I could not find an outfit to match the theme for the night. I also ended up running late because I didn’t turn the burners on for the food. I think Saturday passes without much issue, aside from snide comments from A about my lack of humor and me asking for help to cook some food.
Days later I get a text message from B where in essence it says the friendship must come to an end. B stated I was horrible for B’s mental health and B was done doing things for me and letting me walk over A, B, and C. Truthfully, the message was heinous in nature and the language used was something I wouldn’t use against anyone. In B’s message B stated B did not want to hear my response or any qualms I have about B, then swiftly blocked me on all communication platforms. Going back to B’s comments, I was previously unaware of any negative feelings A, B, or C had about my behavior, but had stated in past conversations that if anyone felt some sort of way they could come to me so we could talk it out since I valued my friendships. A and C have not said anything to me about their feelings on the matter, but I suspect B spoke for the group. Interestingly enough, B privately messaged my boyfriend and apologized to him about B ending our friendship.
Now here’s my question: what do I do next? I know B had said/done several things about/against A and C, one being B saying B shouldn’t have signed to live with A and C and B regretted it. I recently found out B has/had feelings for my boyfriend, even though B is in a relationship. There is also another incident I can’t write here because it is highly unusual and would give away my identity, but I was explicitly told by B to keep it from A and C. Do I tell A and C everything B swore me to secrecy about, including the highly immoral situations that B partook in? We are due to graduate in May, so I wonder if it’s even worth it. However, some part of me wants to let A and C know how B feels about them, as well tell them about the situations B engaged in without their knowledge.
