I come from a rough upbringing. Left my fam when I was 15, we now talk to each other sometimes but we are not close to say the least. So I crave someone who’d choose me over everyone else in a heartbeat. Over their friends, siblings, mom, or dad. I want all their love and affection. I don’t need multiple people who’d do it for me, I just need one person who puts me first no matter what. I have friends but they either have a friend(s) whom they’re closer to or they have good relationships with their fam. I can’t think of anyone who’d choose me over everyone else in the world. I started dating my bf a few months ago(I know, it’s only been a few months) and he’s been great. His respect for me or women in general is admirable and it’s obvious that his mom raised him well. And he really really loves his mom. He loves his sibling and dad too but mom is clearly his favorite. And it’s killing me. The way his eyes light up when he talks about her, I know I sound crazy but I can’t help but feel jealous. I don’t have anyone like that. He’d probably never love me as much as he loves his mom. He’d choose her over me if she’s in trouble or just needs help.
Now I’m regretting ever dating someone like him. In the past I’ve dated people who have similar backgrounds as me so I wouldn’t have to compete for or share their love. The type who hates women or have no respect for women but somehow happens to love me. But those men didn’t treat me well. What a surprise. Turned out that they didn’t respect me either, I was no exception.
I’m sure there are men out there who don’t have any close fam members and still treat women well though. My bf isn’t one of them unfortunately.
He already talked about our future and it made me think, I might always have to carry these messy feelings with me if I do choose to stay with him. His mom isn’t going anywhere. Should I break up with him if my biggest desire is to be with someone who’ll undoubtedly choose me over anyone else every time?
