Hello. I started playing overwatch 2 a couple months ago, about 2-3. I’m aware how important comms are to coordinating a game, as far as target priorities and ult timing, etc. Most of my friends are higher than me, and one of them mentioned how often the higher ranks actually have comms. I have BPD, so if someone says something bad to me or about me, my focus snaps very quickly and I not only start playing worse, I also feel awful for slowly shutting down on my team. I don’t intend to, but this is coming from someone who tries to be knowledgeable about how much my mental health can impact me and I want to be as reliable as I can, so I keep my comms off. I simply play better that way.
But if I want to keep improving, I know I should eventually turn them on and listen in to help my team, but every time I attempt to, I immediately switch VC off out of fear of someone screaming at me or telling me to kms, etc.
I know this may seem a bit difficult to understand, or maybe it comes across as immature—that I should simply toughen up and grow thick skin. But my brain will not allow that to happen. Hence, why I have them turned off.
I’m not crying about toxic people, since I know those are everywhere, not just exclusively on Overwatch. I just feel a bit conflicted. The amount of toxic behavior I’ve experienced in just the short span of 2 months WITHOUT comms is enough to discourage me, so building up the courage to actually turn them is quit difficult. I know that having them on can have huge perks, but it can also deplete all the progress I’ve made with a simple sentence that someone says.
I guess I’m looking for an answer on how to go forward. Should I keep playing without comms? Or should I turn them on as I keep progressing up?

I always hear about these comments that other people make about me from my boyfriend, when we met one of the girls he had something with in the past messaged him telling him i’m “ ugly and a whore” meanwhile id never done anything with a man in my life, I met his sisters and his mother complimented me saying that Im pretty, his sister immediately snapped back and said i was ugly and nothing special, that she thinks i look fake and my face ( nose lips etc aren’t real) when i’ve had the same face my whole life. and that he should be with someone else from their culture and someone else will be more “beautiful”
i’ve had such weird interactions with “friends” in the past, like if a guy liked me they would be like “YOU?” but he’s so attractive and my friend “x name” would be so much better fit for him don’t you think?
I want to understand this behaviour from women, is it always jealousy? or is it genuinely some women’s true opinion, i just don’t understand why i keep getting such weird behaviour from other girls. I want to believe it’s jealousy but there has to be some other reason, i don’t understand why women are like this with me, it’s gotten to the point i’ve cut off all my friendships and just spend all my time alone or with my man.
