Typing this in the midst of yet another spiral, so sorry if nothing makes sense or if this is just a jumble of words.
I am 20 years old and ever since I witnessed my grandfather pass away back in 2016 I have been suffering with extreme death anxiety and was diagnosed with GAD as a result. I remember that day so vividly, it won't ever leave my mind, every little detail still haunts me, even the days after up to the funeral. I couldn't comprehend how my grandfather's entire life, memories, and being was now just an urn. I feel that day changed my mindset completely about death, hell I even started writing myself my own version of a will in school shortly after on my notebook paper. The idea of dying and me actually dying hasn't left my brain since that day I saw him pass. It has caused me so much pain and I am sick of it.
I try my best to join life after death groups to try and calm the anxiety but when it gets bad, nothing helps. It got especially bad again tonight and right now which is the reason why I am typing this thread. I can barely breathe when I think about what I am going to possibly do for a funeral, do I want to be cremated, be put in a casket and buried? Maybe put in soil for a tree? It all stresses me out so bad. It makes me feel sick just thinking about it. I don't want to die either but I know I'll have no choice because death is inevitable, and you can't run away from it. All of these thoughts are so overwhelming, I don't want to die, it's terrifying. I don't want anybody else I know to die, but I can't do anything to help it.
How do you guys deal with this anxiety about death. I have tried everything from years of therapy to again, the facebook groups and nothing seems to ever quell the fear for long. I think it would benefit me to hear other perspectives on the matter, especially on heavy topics such as this. Again, I'm sorry for the dump, I'm going through it right now again... it feels nice to let it out.

2024.11.25 04:40 Vince-in-Montreal LIRA (401k) advice?
Greetings,44yo first time poster. My retirement fund is currently big on Tech and up about 40% in the last 12months to a total just above 400k and about 100% in the last 5 years. I’m obviously very happy about this return but It’s kinda freaking me out as some of the tech giants in the portfolio may or may not be in bubble territory depending who you ask. (MSFT, META, Invidia,GOOGL, Apple etc). Growth not dividends I know ATM.
I’m beyond novice at this point and not as knowledgeable as I know I should be but I’m thinking it may be a good idea to move away from large tech for a bit, and I am expecting a big correction in 2025? Buffet holding 300B cash reserves as he expects the same for a while isn’t helping me stay calm lol.
This is in a Locked In Retirement Account, (Think 401k) but no clue where to park this that makes sense.
Thoughts? I know trying to time the markets is an easy or faster way to lose but?

Vintage Bulova hand-wind, red dial, engraved two-tone square case. I think I’ve ranged it from 1950-1960’s but if anyone has a more direct guess, would love to hear! Had it opened once at work but didn’t get a chance to see the movement before my coworkers closed the caseback, so no info yet on that end (empty caseback). Some light lume remains on the blued hands, and the red dial is something special. Hasn’t had a servicing done yet, but I thankfully work at a full service watch repair so just enjoying it for now. On a temp strap, since I’m a woman’s strap length, having a custom strap made for this soon. [[YES I WEAR MY STRAPS REVERSED. It’s easier for me to secure mobility-wise.]] also sharing the outfit I paired to wear to work today!

2024.11.25 04:40 WatermellonSugar FCPX 11: A note on custom command sets (keyboard shortcut layouts) when upgrading....
I upgraded from 10 to 11 and could not figure out why Opt-Shift-Z was not working to resize the timeline to the vertical height of the window. Turns out my custom command set defined ages ago in FCPX 10 did not have that key combination mapped to anything (makes sense). So I had to manually bind "Vertical Zoom To Fit" to those keys in my custom command set to get it to work.
Interestingly, other new commands like Opt-Down-Arrow and Opt-Up-Arrow worked fine out of the box, so I'm not sure what rules FCP is using when migrating a command set to a new version.
Anyway, hope this saves someone a headache.

My grandmother passed away earlier this year after making it to 100 years old. I have very fond memories of her bringing "Mamaw's Apples" to thanksgiving every year when I was a kid and beyond. Of course as she got older she did not make them any more and by the time I was old enough to know to ask for the recipe she couldn't remember. Knowing my grandmother the recipe likely came off of a Chex cereal box or out of a newspaper.
I have tried recreating it several times but have never gotten it right.
Here is what I remember of the recipe.
- Baked in a 9x13 baking dish
- Served cold
- Uses canned apples (Fresh apples do not come out the same)
- Is topped with Chex (Rice I think) cereal, brown sugar, butter, maybe spices.
- Has some sort of thickener. It is not runny when finished. Maybe flour, maybe something else.
- It is not a desert, but I think this is just my grandmother knowing it was my favorite thing at thanksgiving and saying that to get it as part of the meal.
