Im a 2022 grad at a mid-sized (~90 attorney) firm in the southeast US.
Firm does about 40% ID, 40% commercial lit, 20% odds and ends (growing transactional capabilities with some recent hires).
I practice commercial and construction litigation.
In 2024, I’ve created $375k in revenue, I’ve got $80k in AR, with ~$40k in WIP not yet billed to clients for November. I am the most profitable associate in the firm. On track for >1900 billable hours.
Salary is currently $92.5k. I got a summer bonus of $15k and expect between $20k and $25k in January for the 2024 FY. Bonuses are paid based on collections (i.e., if a client doesn’t pay, I don’t get credit).
I really like the firm (i see a lot of opportunity in the next decade, it seems to have a good strategic vision). I like the folks I work with a lot.
I’ve also been told that i have a strong reputation in the firm and that I’m on the partnership fast track.
I want to ask for $130k in my annual review. I anticipate the answer will be that we have a generous bonus program that makes up for lower base salaries.
When I’ve mentioned to my mentor that hoping for more money is silly because there aren’t firms in our city that will pay more (at least not firms that pay BL scale).

I worked at Mcd at 26th October. I work until 23rd November. They said the salary was supposed to be 22nd. Granted, every month.
Now, my salary didn't come at 22nd. I asked my manager for update and he says he'll check.
So i waited then 25th (today), he said that my salary will come at 23rd December.
I was flabbergasted. That's like 1 month of unpaid labour. Idk if I'll get double if i work there but man.. I sure damn as hell don't want to work there anymore simply because of the long walk. So what im asking is, is this something they can do as a manager? Because...i felt like this shit felt so wrong. I've planned a lot for 11th month salary but no. They delay till Next month.
I don't have time for next month. Literally my mom's about to quit and shit. The last thing i want is for my salary to be delayed until next month.

I contracted an STI in June
My first really bad RA flare started two weeks ago. Back, SI joint, knees, ankles.
On NSAIDS only. I can move and walk but am in pain all day everyday.
For people who have had RA. How long did your flare last and how long was the “ramp up” period? I feel like mine is peeking at day 12.
I’m going to ask for stronger NSAIDS and maybe steroids and my next rheumatologist appointment. Should push for DMARDS?

Hello, I'm (40F) all of a sudden thinking about having a baby. My husband (40M) and I have been married 15 years, together for 23. I have been strongly childfree this whole time, my whole life. I don't hate kids, but I don't particularly enjoy them as a rule.
When we've spoken about kids in the past, he's made it clear that he would like a kid but knew I was pretty sure when we married that I didn't want any, and that he wanted to be married to me without kids vs marrying someone else. I'm fairly confident if I tell him I want to try this route, he'll be over the moon.
But once I open that door, I know if I change my mind, it would be damaging to our relationship so I want to feel sure about it before bringing it up.
We don't have much of a 'village'. Our parents are in their upper 70s with a myriad of health issues. My sister has a lot of mental health issues. Our extended families live on the other side of the state or in distant states.
Things that also might affect this decision:
- I do have fibromyalgia and depression, but both are well managed with medication
- I was raised by a mother with a chronic illness (lupus in her case) and it was often hard for all of us to handle
- Our parents had both of us on the older side, my mom was 36 and my husband's mom was 38, so we fully grasp dealing with aging parents at a younger age
- We are hay farmers and cattle ranchers on our own farm, so sometimes it's very long hours of work, so I'm worried about the possibility of all child care being put on me and stressing my mental health, even though I think my husband will be a very hands on good dad
I'm seeking opinions and any advice. Maybe my biological clock is waking up after all this time?? Thank you for anything!
