I live in the Midwest and we love having our wood burning fireplace going most weekend nights. It just dawned on me tonight as I was putting my 11 week old down, where I could smell a faint fireplace smell on the second floor, that an indoor fire might not be healthy for a baby.
Am I being overly ridiculous? Anyone else questioned use their fireplace with a baby in the house?

I bought the battle pass when it had a couple days left. I was gonna grind the last couple hours now the bug came in, THAT I WASN’T APART OF! and I don't think I will get my moneys worth. basically i'm in a graduate level CS class right now, (very high level class dual credit at private university), i currently have an 84 but with my projected final grade i'm ending with a 70 (C-). i'm a 3.9 student who never got below a B (and that was in english) in my entire life. so this would be very very bad.
how bad does a single "W" look? how should I explain it to colleges? also if i drop I would only be taking 10 credit hours this semester, is that lacking rigor?

I'm staying in Fajardo in December. I would love to take a day trip to Culebra that included a couple of hours snorkeling at a beautiful beach, but also takes me into the town to see more of the island. Does such a trip exist? From my research, outside of taking the ferry yourself, they mostly seem like all day beach trips. I've also heard that a private boat gets you there quicker than the ferry, so you don't spend as much time travelling. Any recommendations for day tours like that?

2024.11.25 05:09 Strongbonium How do you like to keep the game moving?
Context: I've been playing Magic for a long time, but mostly in 60 card 1v1 formats. Recently I've been playing 1v1 EDH with my son, and this weekend we went to the local shop for the first time and played a couple of multiplayer games. We had a lot of fun! But our second game in particular was very long and got pretty stalled out. For a long time, the only thing really pushing the game forward was me (playing [[Colfenor, the Last Yew]]) looping siege rhino every turn with [[Restoration Angel]] and similar effects. However, I wasn't able to establish a truly repeatable loop so this petered out after awhile until finally someone played a board wipe, and the game took quite awhile to finish after that.
This got me to thinking: I would love to consistently have something like that Siege Rhino loop to keep some pressure on the game to keep moving forward. What felt good about it was that it was in line with the power level of the table (roughly precon level, mostly), and it was helping me move towards winning without making me an Archenemy level threat or just creating chaos. And it wasn't an infinite combo (though I don't personally have a problem with combos) or something that made people get salty.
I would go so far as to say that I probably never want to play a deck without something like this in a multiplayer game. It could be unblockable creatures, a loop that drains or damages opponents, something like that – anything that keeps the game from getting locked up in a board stall. I can think of some obvious strategies, like goading opponent's creatures. But I thought this could be an interesting conversation. What are your favorite ways to drive the game forward even if other players are just durdling or playing battle-cruiser style? Do they translate across different power levels? Are there specific cards, commanders, or strategies that you have found effective at doing this? Do they make people salty?

 | Here's my abbreviated story first. I've been to 2 primary doctors, 2 dermatologists, and an immunologist over the past 3 months. I've been prescribed antifungal, topical steroids, tacrolimus, and put on an allergy regimen. The only thing that's worked is the steroids, but as soon as I finished my prescribed steroids it comes right back. At home, I've tried Vaseline, then switched to aquaphor, then tried Burt's bees baby ointment. I am back on aquaphor now, but still looking for better options. Proposed diagnoses: The doctors I've been to have not given me any diagnosis that makes sense or that I've responded to treatments for. I've been diagnosed with a fungal rash, but it didn't go away after 2 antifungal regimens. I was diagnosed with eczema by a dermatologist, even though I've never had any other skin issues or flares anywhere else on my body and no history of eczema. I was then diagnosed with lip lickers dermatitis by another dermatologist even though I told him I don't lick my lips (they are too painful to even want to lick them). An immunologist allergy tested me and said the only thing they found was a dust allergy, so I had to clean and cover all the bedding and pillows in my room and get an air purifier which did nothing for my symptoms. Symptoms: First my lips start feeling super dry and burning and get red around the edges. Then I develop tiny raised bumps on the edges of my lips. Then it starts feeling hardened and has a stinging pain. After that the bumps slough off and the skin closer to the opening of my mouth starts peeling off and has a slight yellowish tint to it. After the skin peels my lips are raw, swollen, and extremely sensitive to any tiny touch. I can no longer eat spicy or acidic foods (my favorites) bc my lips will burn even if I try very hard not to let it touch the outside of my lips. I also switched to only drinking out of a straw, which does help eliminate pain when I drink.
