For the last two seasons it seems that every post on every subreddit was a Jim hate post with viewers complaining about why Jim was in the way of Tabitha constantly and ruining her plans. THIS WAS THE POINT. Jim was put in Tabitha’s life to stop her from saving the children.
The problems always seemed to be on the verge of being solved when Jade and Tabitha worked together but then Jim would always show up and stop things from working out. There was always so much ire between Jim and Jade. Plus it was Jim who was told to stop his wife from digging the hole. It was Jim who was having Jade run weird side quests that never worked but served as great distractions to keep Jade from saving the children.
But now hold up, we always ask what was the point of the boy in white sending Tabitha back to the real world if nothing happened. Well, Tabitha brought Henry back and then Henry’s talked in the bar changed Jim from his usual self to his redemption form at the end of season 3 and then this Jim became valuable to Jade and Tabitha and even solved the mystery for them, which I don’t think he was put in Tabitha’s life to do. That’s why the man in the yellow suit had to show up and kill Jim, because Jim was being far more useful than he was meant to be and solved things that weren’t supposed to be solved and it was because the BIW.

I find nowadays a lot of young people (my peers) want to do reinforcement learning with robots.
However, it seems that reinforcement learning will not work just purely on an intuitive level because it involves trial-and-error and there isn't much trialing when it comes to hardware. If it breaks it will not work anymore.
Of course I've seen people putting some safety barriers around their hardware, or try to develop a model in software before applying to hardware. But the question of risk still lingers.
A better idea is to incorporate knowledge about the world and physics into the reinforcement learning algorithm. We can use fancy jargons such as sensor-based model-aware reinforcement learning. But hey, isn't that just control theory?
I feel that since control theory was developed before reinforcement learning, therefore people treat control theory as reinforcement learning version 1.0 whereas the rest as version 2.0 and invests a lot of effort in making 2.0 work. But version 1.0 actually works a lot better than 2.0.
Is this a correct take on the relationship between control theory and reinforcement learning?
