After a thorough listening session, After Hours is arguably the best Weeknd album(till now) I'm a music producecomposer and an audio engineer. So I gave his albums a thorough listen, trying to listen and judge it from every perspective and AH stood out the most. Here's a breakdown:
This album scores the highest in all the areas.
  1. Narrative and word building: Though some people can say Dawn FM to be more cohesive, but this album did the world building perfectly, it engulfs you. He is still recognised by his red/black suit by the general audience.
  2. Emotions/Feels: I think this album has songs for everyone, sad, contemplating, hype, party. Fits almost to every type of listener [pop, rnb, hip hop(kinda lmao) etc.] And has some of his best vocal performances.
  3. Production & Writing: I feel like it has the best production in his discography. It is really complete with amazing and catchy melodies which get stuck in your head, makes you feel something. Plus the lyrics are just amazing.
  4. Mixing: Dawn FM might be slightly better on the mixing part, but this AH is still at par. Everything is just so clear.
Ik many people have a separate place for his initial work, I also absolutely love them, especially HOB. But I don't think they top this masterpiece.

2024.11.25 07:20 KIL913 Changing Act 2 & Structure.

I feel like placing episode 7 as the actual episode 4 helps with the FLOW of the story.
Here are my reasons why:

  1. It immediately pays off what happened to Jayce, Ekko abd Heimerdinger at the end of Act 1.
  2. It builds anticpation and intrigue for when Ekko and Jayce are gonna show up again. This is especially true with Ekko.
  3. This allows us to essentially have Ekko present in all acts.
  4. Since we have this AU episode in between timeskip, it really helps with the feel that a lot of time really had past.
  5. This also helps set a central theme with this newly revised Act 2 which is "Second Chances". Ekko in the dimension getting a chance at seeing a much more prosperous and thriving Zaun with most of his friends and Benzo alive, and forming a romance with Jinx. Jayce realizing they were wrong and wanting another chance to righh their wrongs. And of course a hope Vi and Jinx fixing their family again.
  6. Act 2 will end on a positive note as well with their reunion.
  7. Act 3 will now get a really intense opening act with Isha's sacrifice and Viktor's "death".
  8. Isha's death kinda gets "forgotten" so moving the episode to the first part of act 3 means that we get a follow up right away.
  9. Act 3's central arc of "Humanity" will flow even better now.
  10. It also really helps with the escalation and stakes. And it will really set a tone with the whole humanity vs arcane plot. Since at the beginning of Act 3 we see the death of Viktor and followed up by the birth of the Machine Herald.
So overall, watching it this way doesn't necessarily fix the season but helps with the dlow and narrative.

Usually I just play Layla S1, picking either Swordsman synergy or Nature, or usually both. Pretty easy cause the Hero selection is clear. Pretty easy to get top 3 with this but oftentimes I get obliterated by Vale player using Northern Vale synergy, or sometimes Tharz.
