2024.11.25 12:20 Ok-Design1478 Help figuring out the diameter of septum ring?
So I got my septum pierced over the summer and I'm finally able to put a new ring in. However I don't know what size horseshoe they used to pierce me, so l don't know what size of closed ring to get. I know the gauge is approximately 16G but I don't know what the diameter is (in mm). I’m looking for something that’ll be snug, but I don’t know if 6mm or 7mm will be too small.

2024.11.25 12:20 bustavius Imported Oil Question
Reading articles suggesting that an eventual Israel/US war with Iran could raise gas prices to 8 dollars/gallon.
Given that about half of our oil for gasoline is imported, with most of that coming from Canada and only 10% from the Middle East (if I have that correct), why would instability in Iran cause such a dramatic change here?
Thanks!

2024.11.25 12:20 -witchybitch- Athens in March
Hi all,
I've booked a surprise holiday for my family to Athens at the end of March, we have a 4 year old who's never travelled before and I'm very excited to show her some of the world.
Any tips/advice/must sees for a 4 night stay? We're keen to see all the ancient ruins, we love museums, want to eat real greek food, not fussed on shopping or anything to 'kid' centred, we just want her to experience the country like we do.
Thanks in advance!

2024.11.25 12:20 Injusvick Venom vs. Spider-Man: An Epic Rivalry in Marvel History
https://preview.redd.it/6q5fdp2hi13e1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f41ac84a69bfd46852386a0e1d1630250d96ea1f The relationship between Spider-Man and Venom is one of the most compelling rivalries in Marvel Comics, defined by its unique blend of shared history, intense conflict, and mutual respect. Unlike many traditional hero-villain dynamics, the struggle between Spider-Man and Venom is deeply personal, rooted in betrayal, vengeance, and the moral complexities of their characters. This article delves into the history of their rivalry, examining its origins, evolution, and lasting impact on the Marvel Universe. Origins of the Conflict The Birth of the Symbiote Venom’s story begins with the alien symbiote, first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1984) during the Secret Wars crossover event. Peter Parker acquired the symbiote as a replacement for his damaged costume, not realizing it was a sentient being. Initially, the black suit enhanced Spider-Man’s abilities, granting him greater strength, agility, and the ability to generate webbing without mechanical web-shooters. However, the symbiote’s darker side soon emerged. It began to bond with Peter on a psychological level, influencing his behavior and amplifying his aggression. Realizing the symbiote was trying to permanently merge with him, Peter sought to rid himself of it. Using the powerful vibrations of church bells, he successfully rejected the symbiote, leaving it bitter and abandoned. The Birth of Venom The symbiote’s next host was Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist whose life was ruined by Peter Parker. Eddie blamed Spider-Man for exposing his fraudulent reporting, which cost him his career and credibility. When Eddie encountered the alien symbiote, their mutual hatred for Spider-Man made them a perfect match. Together, they became Venom, a fearsome entity with the symbiote’s powers and Eddie’s thirst for vengeance. Venom’s hatred for Spider-Man was further fueled by the symbiote’s sense of betrayal. Unlike other villains, Venom retained knowledge of Spider-Man’s secret identity, giving him an edge over the wall-crawler. The Complex Rivalry The Physical Threat Venom’s physical superiority made him one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous adversaries. The symbiote granted Eddie Brock enhanced strength, speed, and durability, far surpassing Spider-Man’s abilities. Unlike other villains, Venom was immune to Spider-Man’s spider-sense, allowing him to ambush Peter without warning. This unique advantage, combined with Venom’s relentless pursuit, forced Spider-Man to rely on his intellect and resourcefulness to counter his formidable foe. The Psychological Battle Beyond physical confrontations, the rivalry between Spider-Man and Venom is steeped in psychological tension. Venom’s knowledge of Peter’s personal life created a constant threat to his loved ones. Eddie’s vendetta against Peter was deeply personal, stemming from a shared sense of betrayal and loss. At the same time, the symbiote’s lingering connection to Spider-Man added another layer of complexity. The alien creature displayed an almost obsessive desire to reunite with Peter, making their encounters charged with emotional intensity. Moral Ambiguity Venom is not a traditional villain. While his actions are driven by vengeance, he often operates with a warped sense of morality. Eddie Brock, despite his flaws, sees himself as a protector of the innocent. Over time, Venom evolved into an antihero, targeting criminals and even teaming up with Spider-Man against greater threats. This moral ambiguity adds depth to their rivalry. Spider-Man, a steadfast believer in responsibility and justice, often finds himself questioning Venom’s methods and motivations. Their dynamic reflects a clash of ideologies as much as physical confrontation. Iconic Battles The battles between Venom and Spider-Man have become legendary in Marvel Comics, each encounter showcasing their contrasting strengths and weaknesses. 1. The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (1988) This landmark issue, written by David Michelinie and illustrated by Todd McFarlane, marked Venom’s full debut. The story features Spider-Man’s first major confrontation with Venom, who kidnaps Peter’s wife, Mary Jane. The fight emphasizes Venom’s physical dominance and Spider-Man’s ingenuity, setting the tone for their future clashes. 2. The Amazing Spider-Man #315-317 This multi-issue arc delves deeper into Venom’s obsession with Spider-Man. Venom escapes from captivity and continues to terrorize Peter and his loved ones. The storyline highlights the psychological stakes of their rivalry and solidifies Venom as one of Spider-Man’s most relentless foes. 3. Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) In this miniseries, Venom transitions from villain to antihero. The story sees Venom and Spider-Man temporarily setting aside their differences to confront a common enemy. This arc showcases the begrudging respect between the two characters and hints at the complexity of their relationship. 4. Maximum Carnage (1993) The Maximum Carnage crossover event brings Venom and Spider-Man together to battle Carnage, the offspring of the symbiote bonded to serial killer Cletus Kasady. The storyline explores the uneasy alliance between Spider-Man and Venom, highlighting their shared commitment to stopping a greater evil. The Evolution of Venom From Villain to Antihero As the years progressed, Venom’s character underwent significant evolution. Initially a straightforward villain, Venom’s storylines began to explore Eddie Brock’s humanity and moral struggles. His transformation into an antihero allowed for more nuanced storytelling and opened the door for solo adventures. Legacy of the Symbiote The Venom symbiote’s story expanded beyond Eddie Brock, bonding with other hosts and creating new characters. These include:
Venom’s obsession with Spider-Man is central to his identity. The symbiote’s time with Peter Parker left an indelible mark, shaping its behavior and desires. Even as Venom evolves, the connection to Spider-Man remains a driving force, reflecting the symbiotic paradox: mutual hatred intertwined with an undeniable bond. Venom as a Reflection of Spider-Man Venom serves as a dark mirror to Spider-Man, embodying what Peter Parker might have become had he given in to the symbiote’s influence. Where Spider-Man represents responsibility and selflessness, Venom embodies vengeance and impulsivity. This dichotomy underscores the importance of choice and morality in shaping one’s destiny. Venom vs. Spider-Man in Other Media The rivalry between Venom and Spider-Man has transcended comics, becoming a staple of various media adaptations. Animated Series Venom has appeared in multiple Spider-Man animated series, including the 1994 Spider-Man: The Animated Series and The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008). These adaptations emphasize the symbiote’s role in Spider-Man’s life and the personal stakes of their conflict. Film Adaptations Venom’s live-action debut came in Spider-Man 3 (2007), directed by Sam Raimi. While the portrayal received mixed reviews, it introduced the character to a wider audience. In 2018, Sony released Venom, a standalone film focusing on Eddie Brock’s relationship with the symbiote. Its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), further explored the character’s antiheroic journey. These films have fueled speculation about a future cinematic showdown between Venom and Spider-Man. The Legacy of Venom vs. Spider-Man The rivalry between Venom and Spider-Man is more than a clash of hero and villain—it is a narrative rich with emotion, complexity, and growth. Their dynamic explores themes of betrayal, redemption, and the duality of human nature. As Venom continues to evolve, his relationship with Spider-Man remains a cornerstone of Marvel storytelling. Whether as enemies, reluctant allies, or something in between, their connection exemplifies the intricate storytelling that has made Marvel Comics a cultural phenomenon. This article has explored the layers of the Spider-Man vs. Venom rivalry, providing a comprehensive look at its origins, evolution, and impact. It stands as one of the most iconic relationships in comic book history, continually captivating fans with its depth and intensity. submitted by Injusvick to marveldcnerdys [link] [comments] |

🚨 Crypto News: Chirp just dropped a game-changer on the Sui blockchain with Kage – the first-ever DePIN Play-to-Earn adventure! This isn’t just your average P2E; it’s where gaming, rewards, and real-world tech collide in epic fashion.

Every swipe and signal you detect feeds Chirp’s IoT ecosystem, powering data solutions for industries like logistics, urban planning, and even retail. It’s Pokémon Go with a crypto twist – their Wings of Chronos campaign even adds Bluetooth-enabled treasure hunts and NFT rewards.
And the choice of Sui blockchain? Spot-on. Lightning-fast speed, unmatched security, and a solid platform for Chirp to expand its ambitious plans. With global expansion kicking off in Europe, Kage is aiming to set the standard for DePIN gaming.

2024.11.25 12:20 JeepRaven Another Request to Fix the KingSpires Gun, but the title is longer and I changed the body slightly.
Mark, I'm once again asking for your help. Please... it's been broken since the kinglet was added.
For those who don't know: the warden KingSpire scout tank has an issue with its machinegun, which requires you to double click with a delay greater than a second to resume firing at the end of a firing, making it nearly impossible to fire in short controlled bursts.
(The changes to rotation speed of the turret were needed, so thankyou for that... but the chief problem still stands.)
I've not (properly) measured the ammount of time needed before you can resume firing, but it is a monstrous handicap for the vehicle, especially considering the short engagement times vs infantry running to and fro from cover to cover.
Those of us who choose to use the vehicle have lived with it since the kinglet was added.
Mark, please... give kinglet mc scouty tracks a bit of love!
Fun Fact: if you put a kingspire into an Octagon, you have a stuck kingspire.
PS: The Jester is a thing and it scares me... Mom, come pick me up.
Edit: adding a quote from fellow kingspire enthusiast SnowFall:
"You literally cannot shoot if your mouse aims beyond the turret rotation while firing. This only occurs on the Scout; the Chieftain shoots whilst turning, the 7.92mm ACs don't have it, but the Scouts do. If you move your mouse beyond the turret angle as it shoots it locks up. And then you have to press to fire again just to start it up."

2024.11.25 12:19 scooty-boots Lost
My other half left this world a week ago Sunday. We had such a wonderful night before. Had pizza and finished our favorite show. Held each other that night as usual - told each other I love you at least a dozen times that night. That morning he collapsed and died at our ranch. By the time the ambulance arrived, they were able to recover a pulse but the bleeding on his brain was too significant to help. He’d been my other half for 25 years and 2 months. I was 17 when we met, and we fell in love instantly. He was the best parts of me; calm, kind, reassuring, strong. We couldn’t have kids but we always had each other. Now, I’m here trying to figure out how I go on and what that looks like. I had to spend the last week moving from our ranch. We lived off grid and I don’t know how to do that on my own. I’m now 42 years old, living in my parents house and moving into my rv in their back yard. I have to come up with a new dream, a new job, a new direction. I’m having such a hard time dealing directly with the pain. I’m in turn it all off survival mode. I have tons of support- but I can be in a room full of people and ache with loneliness. I’m so tired and yet sleeping hurts because I see him, and he’s either dying or we are madly in love and I wake up empty. I’m so lost, yet focused. My mind is putting things together but my body isn’t cooperating. I will not be bitter: he was a treasure I got to keep for that time. I just feel like I was traveling a road in life that would take me to the end, and now am dealing with the fact the trail ended and I must go back and restart.

2024.11.25 12:19 Thinkiatrist The Sunset
. . I sit here as audience
To the laments of a dying sea
As the sun sinks
And the eyes squint
In the light and dark of memories
There's love there
There's hurt more
Only so much that the salt breeze
Can take away
Can break away
From running creeks of injury
. .
Some cry hard
Some laugh away
Some bear it tough and silently
As the wind pulls
Their tears back
From the riverbeds of scarred cheeks
. .
But the waves crash
. .
And crash again
Their toes wet with sand again
You leave too
You come back again
Is it hope
Or a trap again?
. .
The stains of past
On a crystal lens
Make it difficult
To believe
That beneath the pinks of a mourning eve
Perhaps a dawn of morn' awaits
