I'm sick about this butterball situation going on. It's absolutely vile to me that grown men are doing such awful things and getting away with it in public. I will note i haven't watched the video but from what i accidentally stumbled upon on, I barely slept last night. I don't eat meat to start with (i haven't for more than half of my life, but by no means do i judge anyone who does, my kids do) so any time I hear of an animal abuse story it almost paralyzes me. But turkeys???? The atrocities people get away with because everything is hypersexual is so demoralizing. How is the world supposed to get better for every living thing if not everyone wants to make it better..

2024.11.25 13:40 NonFungibleDrugs My grandma recipe for Lasagna - enjoy!
Ingredients (4 people)
- 500g lasagna sheets
- 600g besciamella cream, made of:
- 500ml whole milk
- 50g wheat flour, type "00" or for pizza
- 50g butter
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 200g Parmigiano cheese, grated
- 150g ground beef
- 150g ground pork
- 150g pork sausage
- 500g tomato sauce (with no herbs, no italian flavours, no garlic, no basil… just plain simple tomato sauce)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 carrot
- 1/2 celery
- 2 SECRET INGREDIENTS (you can ask me in dm)
- Cut the onion, the carrot and the celery all together (very very very very small)
- Put a lot of Extra Virgin Olive Oil into a pan and heat it up
- When the oil is warm enough, put the mix of onion+carrot+celery into the oil (this is called “soffritto”) and let it become smooth
- Add all the ground meat (beef + pork + pork sausage) and make it cook a little (5-10 minutes) into the soffritto
- When the meat is not raw anymore, add the Tomato Sauce.
- Add salt (as you like)
- ADD THE SECRET INGREDIENTS
- Let cook for at least 1 hour
- Put it somewhere to rest
- Warm the milk in a pan
- Melt the butter in another pan
- Add the flour to the butter, and mix until yellowish (low temperature)
- Add the nutmeg to the milk, and a little salt
- Add the spiced (and warm) milk to the butter+flour, and mix everything with a wire whisk. Mix continuously, and don't let the bottom part burn!
- The final consistency of the Besciamella should be liquid but not so much. So, in order to adjust it, you can add milk (if it’s too solid) or add more flour (if too liquid)
Basically, you need to add 1 layer of lasagne and then 1 layer of a mix between Ragù + Besciamella + Parmigiano.
This will lead you to have, at the end (from top to bottom)
- Parmigiano (most top level, to have a nice crunch effect after the oven cooking)
- Mix
- Lasagna layer
- Mix
- Lasagna layer
- Mix
- Lasagna layer
- Olive oil (most bottom layer to avoid the lasagne to stick to the pan)

2024.11.25 13:40 roxywalker AITA for not agreeing to travel plans to bring my MIL to see my SIL for the Holidays?
My MIL lives in a facility a few miles from us. A few years back, after my FIL passed and my MIL started to show signs of dementia the family decided to relocate her to be closer with us. My SIL maintains the former home she shared with my late FIL as a rental to pay her bills which are extremely costly in the facility.
We live 9-10 hours drive away or by air, 1/2 hour flight, and used to drive up or fly to visit in her home state, but since relocating her to our area, my SIL came to visit once, two years ago in the Summer, stayed for two days instead of the four she had originally planned, and hasn’t been back since.
In that time my MIL’s health has declined and she is no longer able to travel long distances by car and definitely can’t fly. She’s now 88 and suffering her dementia is now in a state where she is struggling with conversations from minute-to-minute. When my SIL visited two years ago this wasn’t the case.
She calls and checks in with her mom regularly and pays all the necessary expenses for her care while also managing the condo rental. But, about two months ago she requested that this Thanksgiving we consider bringing MIL to visit with her for the holidays. I was surprised because my husband has been keeping her informed about their mothers decline in health.
SIL has doubled-down, now telling us that because we have made other plans for Thanksgiving, that we should bring her to visit for Christmas/New Year’s. Am I missing something? Clearly my MIL is not well enough to travel and we have expressed that. (She has also noticed weird things when she speaks with her on the phone that clearly show her mental decline) My husband thinks that his sister is demanding we make the trip because she’s handling the business end of things. I disagree and feel that she should make the effort to visit her mother, especially if her health is declining and we tend to her weekly needs (supply drop offs/personal care/doctors visits) and see her regularly.
To summarize: My 88 year old MIL’s health is in slow decline and my SIL wants us to travel with her to visit for the holidays even though we live hours away.

De laatste maand heb ik nu twee keer gehad dat ik inklaringskosten moet betalen voor iets wat eigenlijk niet zou moeten hoeven. In het eerste geval stuurde ik een paar in de EU gekochte spullen terug naar huis vanuit Zwitserland. En nu hebben ze van Aliexpress niet doorgekregen (of zo) dat de BTW over een sticker van 90 cent al betaald was. Kortom, 20 cent BTW én 6 euro kosten van PostNL.
Hebben jullie hier veel last van? Zijn jullie bij PostNL in bezwaar gegaan, en had dat nut? Krijg je dan de BTW terug of ook de 6 euro die PostNL rekent voor het handelen? Dit laatste kan ik niet op de site vinden.
Ook vind ik het echt bizar dat je maar moet betalen, en later moet klagen om vervolgens te hopen dat ze antwoorden. Tijd er overheen laten gaan, drempel lekker hoog maken, en hopen dat mensen het laten zitten.
Benieuwd naar jullie ervaringen of dat ik gewoon even pech heb/me aanstel.

 | I started invisalign about a few months ago to correct 1 single molar at the top right quadrant that was crooked (which gets in the way of my tongue and prevents it from resting properly). It was basically caused by a dentist's bad advice not to extract my stuck milk tooth which caused my adult tooth to grow out from the side. Anyway, I only wanted to fix that one problem tooth but ended up being convinced by the ortho to do invisalign for both top and bottom arch to correct my crossbite. I'm currently on my 5th arch and feedbacked to my ortho that it's been causing me issues. As my arch is being expanded and pushed out, my mouth has become more protruded and I'm unable to close my lips comfortably together. My lips can't cover my teeth comfortably and I have to make a conscious effort to stretch/pull my lips together to close my mouth and the constant stretching around the mouth has caused my nasolabial folds and marionette lines to deepen significantly. My ortho's response to me not being able to close my mouth comfortably was that I should just continue to stretch and pull my lips together best I could. As for the deepened nasolabial folds, he says it's impossible for invisalign to cause that as according to him, only retracting the teeth will cause laugh lines to deepen and expanding the arch will make one more youthful. I've paid a high 4 figure amount and want to fix my problem tooth so that I could rest my tongue comfortably. However, how it changes my face is so devastating. I look like a monkey with protruding mouth after having my arch expanded. And my ortho seems to suggest it's all in my head. Feels like medical gaslighting. I'm kinda bored at work rn and I've been thinking about posting something like this for a long time, so why not now.
I am 28 years old, married and living in Germany. I don't look very German but I was born and raised here.
Life has been pretty hectic lately. Work has been intense, marriage can be challenging and the last few weeks I've been feeling pretty down. I'm looking for some sort of escape. Someone I can chat to every day. Are you married too and feel similar?
I'd like something long-term, not just a quick exchange. Who knows, maybe a real connection could come out of it? Maybe not just friendship but something that can be more than that.
In my spare time I like to play games on my PC/PS5 (Hunt Showdown or CoD), watch movies and series (Rings of Power rn) or just go for a walk in the nature. Apart from that I don't have much time for anything else, although I really want to get back into sport.
