2024.11.25 13:30 Sykies 2012 R56 With Multiple Issues
Owner of a 2012 Mini Cooper Base with 115k+ miles on it and dealing with multiple issues all popping up at once, looking for advice.
- The valve cover continues to leak even after being replaced 2 years ago, was thinking of replacing it with an aftermarket aluminum one to possibly avoid cracking in the cover.
- The timing chain is making the infamous "death rattle" and needs to be replaced, any tips on doing that myself or is that something I should stay away from?
- There is a clicking sound coming from the rear of the car when I go over bumpy roads, tech says they saw nothing in my suspension.
- Both of my key fobs do not unlock my car anymore, I have replaced the batteries and the fuses. I'm at a loss.
- Water leaks into my cabin through the headliner around the rear view mirror, could this be the source of my malfunctioning key fobs?
- I am mysteriously guzzling coolant, techs said they ran it on a pressure tester for over an hour and found it to be running fine with no leaks.
It feels like there's no one honest who wants to touch this car and it seems like the repairs are way too complex to handle in the driveway.
Anyone here have similar experiences and found the light at the end of the tunnel, or is my Mini toast?

I have an idea I want to run by the litrpg communities. How would we feel if, outside the initial introduction of a stat sheet, a story has its stats in a separate document sorted chapter by chapter. Write it in such a way that you never need the full stats, but still give readers the option to see how they have grown. Possibly an excel sheet or a sneaky first chapter on royal road that gets updated. Added benefit of folk being able to see growth easily.

2024.11.25 13:30 mexaplex Prevent GFExperience forcing update to Nvidia App.
- Install GFExp. Run application but do not close it.
- Delete everything inside the folder "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\Downloader"
- Remove the NTFS permissions (or set deny permissions on read/excute for all users)
- Now you can close and reopen GFExp
- GFExp wont be able to download/prompt for any updates to Nvidia app.
Lucky you if its working without issues... but for so many if borked beyond belief. Dont understand how it can be so wildly different for people all.
Anyway, GF Experience isnt perfect but at least its 10x more reliable/stable - so I rolled back to the latest version and stopped the program from checking or forcing updates.
So far so good. I have streaming, overlay, shadowplay and recording again.
If you want to regain permissions later you can force overwrite the permissions from the folder above.

There was something I really wanted (it was materialistic) way out of my league I couldn’t afford even a third of the price. Last year same time I made dua during Tahajjud how I really wanted it even though there was no way i could get it. But I remember after making dua multiple times for many months I kept getting this strange feeling as if I already have the thing I’m asking for. It was like a comfort feeling like I just had to wait. Which I did. And now a few months ago suddenly out of no where I was given that thing without even having to pay a single dollar for it. By the mercy of Allah. All I had to do was have patience tawwakul and consistency with my duas my prayers.
Brothers and sisters. This is why you never give up. You never doubt the power of Allah SWT. Is there anything in this dunya that’s impossible for Allah? Then what makes you want to lose hope on the almighty. I hope this story gives someone hope and motivation to continue with your prayers. May Allah make it easy for us all.

My wife (24) and I (29) have been married for three years, and it hasn’t been an easy journey. We’ve had our share of ups and downs, but we’re blessed with a beautiful 10-month-old baby girl who lights up our lives.
We live in a tiny community, and I make a living working in the fields, planting, harvesting, and selling what little we can grow. It’s humble, low-paying work, but it’s honest. Some days, it feels like just keeping food on the table is a victory.
Since the day we met, my wife has struggled with sharp pain in her left leg. Over time, the pain got worse, and she began to limp. Getting medical care in our area is a battle of its own. To see a doctor at a public hospital, you first have to register at a health post and then wait for months. By the time she was finally seen, her condition had worsened, and the journey to healing feels daunting.
The doctor diagnosed her with pubalgia, a painful condition that needs multiple tests: MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, and consultations with specialists to determine the right treatment (surgery). Meanwhile, her pain hasn’t just taken a physical toll; it’s also stolen something from our relationship.
Our sex life has all but disappeared. We’ve tried, but every attempt only leaves her in more pain, especially near her groin. It’s heartbreaking to see her frustration and sadness. Even when her leg doesn’t hurt, she’s too anxious and tense to relax, which leads to more pain during intimacy. I’ve stopped trying because I don’t want to hurt her or make her feel worse, but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been difficult. Sometimes, I feel so helpless, torn between wanting to be there for her and mourning the part of our relationship we’ve lost.
There is hope, though. The doctor says her condition can be treated, and that feels like a light at the end of the tunnel. But getting there is overwhelming. From everything I’ve researched, the total cost for her treatment will be around $5,000. Right now, every cent we earn goes to basic needs likke food, diapers, and keeping our family afloat.
We started an online fundraiser last month, and so far, we’ve raised $300. It’s nowhere near what we need, but it’s a start, and every donation feels like a small miracle. We’re holding onto faith that things will get better, even though some days it feels like the weight of it all might crush us. Our church cannot help much because it is situated in a small community with only a few members and does not have many funds.

I'm about six months into truly accepting my curly hair and am loving it! My only challenge is I'm a swimmer and so my hair gets wet every morning (not even the best swim cap keeps hair dry). Any other CG swimmers out there? Do I just have to accept I need to restyle my hair every single day? Would also love advice on how to make sure the chlorine doesn't wreck havoc on my hair!
