2024.11.25 15:40 Ninja_It England - Estranged widow claiming under Inheritance Act
My dad recently died after 2.5 years with dementia.
His house was sold 2 years ago in order to pay for expected care costs, he died in residential care.
Prior to his death, his 'wife' was divorcing him, having been married to him for less than a year. They lived together on and off for about 5 years, in the home my Dad outright owned. He then sold this house to buy a house closer to her family. She left him shortly after (in 2020) and moved out, and did not initiate divorce proceedings for about 2 years. She did not bring any assets or income into the marriage, and they were both in their 70s when they married. He died before the divorce went through.
His estate is worth approx. £400,000. Probate has been granted and his will states the two beneficiaries are my brother and I.
A solicitor has now been in contact stating that the 'widow' wants £200k, so 50% of the estate.
We are going to speak to a solicitor, but those spoken to so far are very cagey about giving a vague idea of how realistic this claim is.
Is it likely she's be able to claim 50% of his estate, leaving 25% each to me and my brother, given the above? Would just like to know where I need to set my expectation, as to me this sounds utterly outrageous.

Hello, i had this problem that irritates me for 4 months. Engine: m57d30n2 218hp, manual Mods: fap, egr, cats, maf Off tune It has an upgraded oem bmw injectors
Symptoms: The problem only happens when flooring the gas pedal At 1st 2nd and 3rd the car starts to idle really violently untill i turn off and on the ignition and the car idles normal
What i did: I replaced injectors, same problem, Replaced fuel rail with its sensor, same problem
What could cause this issue? Thanks in advance for your help

Unfortunately my sister got hit by a car in Ohio away on business and shattered her knee, so we are going to do a small vegan Thanksgiving at her apartment in Brooklyn. So I’m currently traveling and my friend who I’m sharing a room with got shitfaced last night, fell asleep in the bathroom with the shower running and flooded the room.
I somehow slept through all of this mess and woke up to the phone ringing this morning, and when I stepped out of bed immediately stepped into a soaked carpet.
The manager called the room to let us know that the flooded shower leaked into the room below us.
So the room is in my name, what do I do now? how bad is this about to be?

I sometimes do some questions in math on my own and everytime I don't cheat on English However
The education system in my School sucks I know arabic However the thing is I don't understand the meaning of words when it comes to reading
Why the education system sucks?
Well first let me you What are the papers they give to us to study
To get these papers you need it to print if u wanna Study it in school and not to mention U literally have to go to the school group which I haven't done yet
And it's impossible for me since I need a Sim
Now What are the papers like?
When they give you the paper you need to study it's like 5-6 pages long
When exam comes the test paper is 1-2 pages long
This literally makes students Waste their time Studying stuff they don't need on a test paper and students in my School cheats alot
However I am trying to learn arabic and start studying I just don't know when.
I think my grammar is bad when I wrote this

Hello Michiganders! (I hope I spelled it right lol)
My husband and I will be visiting at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. We're checking out two different residency programs, one in AA and one in Grand Rapids.
So my questions are both- What is a must do/see while we visit for 3-4 days and also what would you recommend for someone moving here? Because we're pretty sure we're going to wind up at one of these two programs.
So questions-
Which is better or which do you recommend and why? AA vs GR ( I know that's probably controversial, sorry)
Neighborhood recommendations, to check out while we visit for possible future home buying
Any other things you think we should consideknow both for visit and for moving? (We're DINKS with two German Shepherds, we like to go out and have a drink or try a local restaurants/businesses, general millennial stuff lol)
