Thoughts on NFCs growing for only 1 year? So I went to the vet for Nora's annual (she's 1.25 yrs old) and asked the vet if we should keep feeding her kitten food for a bit longer, because I had seen elsewhere (Purina's site had the most direct info) that larger breeds can be kept on kitten food longer because of their slow maturing nature, which logically makes sense.
Most cats are considered kittens until around 12 months of age. Large breeds, like the Maine Coon, can take 18 months to 2 years to reach maturity, though.
During this period of growth and development, kittens need a complete and balanced kitten food. Once they’ve reached adulthood (according to their breed), it’s time to transition to an adult cat food.
I've obviously always known the whole "NFCs reach full size at 4/5 yrs" bit and it even is mentioned on TICA and CFA breed standard info sheets and literally anywhere there's info on the breed. HOWEVER, when I bring this up to the vet, she says how that's actually a myth and she doesn't know where it came from actually and they're full grown at 1 year. I know for regular cats, that's correct, but I tried to make it clear that she's legitimately a Norwegian Forest Cat, even though I'm sure there's plenty of people who come in claiming they have breeds. Honestly I was absolutely shocked to hear this since this is a professional saying this and goes against everywhere else there's information about the breed.

I'd be legitimately interested to read which literature is saying this since it goes against what's assumed to be common knowledge. Or does this mean there's a misinterpretation out there that "maturity" refers to other things than just bone growth size? The vet seemed to insinuate most of the time the extra "growing" is just gaining weight.
Personally, I think we'll continue to feed her kitten food for a little bit longer, but if she starts to gain weight (she's still quite lean), we'll move her off.
Anyway, just curious about other's thoughts on this and personal experience from their own NFCs growth or any pieces of info that also say they stop growing at 1 year.

Roast my resume! I am a 2024 graduate struggling to get interview calls I’ve been applying for software development jobs but haven’t been getting any responses. I didn’t apply for campus placements because of personal reasons and also because only 2-3 companies came this year for tech roles and the pay was too low, but now I’m actively job hunting and trying to make up for lost time. I have lost contact with everyone I don’t have the energy to even socialise that's also a reason I am not able to focus on networking and asking for referrals even though ik this is something that needs to be done but idk there is something that is holding me back I feel so underconfident even though I have skills, made projects, have 6-7months internship experience still idk something is holding me back. I want a decent paying job I need at least a 9Lpa job That is also one of the reasons I didn't apply to a few companies that came on campus as the wage was too low.
I feel bad because so many of my classmates are working at least somewhere, even if the roles aren’t what they wanted or the pay is low. At least they’re financially independent and getting that corporate life experience. I did a decent-paying internship before, but I wasn’t ready to settle for the low pay that most companies were offering during on-campus recruitment, so I didn’t apply. That was my mistake—I don’t have a single interview experience so far, and it feels terrible. I feel so behind everyone else. I have my reasons, but that’s not what I want. I want to land a decent-paying job before March 2024. But right now I feel so lost stuck and depressed that I am unable to do what needs to be done. Any advice on updating my resume and suggestions for some good projects to strengthen my profile or skills will be highly appreciated ! Thanks for reading it!!
