2024.11.25 19:41 zogrodea Is it possible to develop Wayland programs on Asahi?
Hi guys.
I made and use a program that uses GLFW and works fine mostly on Asahi (and I do development on Asahi too), but I would like to use Wayland natively (toolkits like GTK and QT being far from what I want).
I tried to go through a few different tutorials to learn Wayland (like "Wayland - Zero to Window" on YouTube) but encountered problems to do with the environment (like one tutorial mentions a tool to generate function bindings based on an XML specification, which seems to be missing or in a different path on Asahi).
Would anyone be able to give any pointers on developing native Wayland applications on Asahi, if possible? Thanks!

Does anyone eles feel like dating and relationships are a waste of time? Men have always been a disappointment to me. There's always something. They are emotionally weak/unavailable, bad in bed, have no drive, drug or alcohol issues, poor hygiene, mental health issues, not interested in dating women with children. I know I'm not perfect but I do put effort into becoming a better version of myself. I'm in therapy, have a good job, try to workout and eat healthy. It just seems rare that men are trying to be a better version of them selves. I'm 46 and feel like giving up on finding a worthwhile relationship.

My 9yo stepson was recently diagnosed with ASD (high functioning, not sure about levels), to go along with his previous ADHD and anxiety diagnoses. Heâs in OT as well.
I am trying to learn more about ASD and integrate that into what I know about the other diagnoses too but I just find myself getting so frustrated with him all the time. He Is constantly being rude and disrespectful, is leaves his stuff/messes everywhere, wonât follow basic rules/expectations (simple stuff like flushing the toilet and washing hands after going to the bathroom), canât stand being corrected or reminded to do something without attitude/pushback, is super loud jumping/screaming/making random noises unless heâs glued to a screen, lies all the time, is constantly sneaking food/snacks meant for the whole house and binging them, is often mean to his sister, and just overall is really unpleasant to live with. I feel like Iâm at the end of my rope with him. I donât want to feel this way- I know logically he canât help it and thereâs more going on than the behavior Iâm seeing- but every time Iâm faced with another mess heâs left somewhere or get attitude after I ask him to pause his game to put his stuff away or get startled awake because he canât be quiet for more than two minutes, I see red.
Itâs getting to the point where I start dreading the days he comes to our house (50/50 custody split). Of course, I canât talk about this with his dad without getting met with a wall of excuses and defensiveness, so that doesnât make it any easier.
Like I said, I donât want to feel this way. Iâve known him since he was 2, heâs a good kid deep down and he has so many good qualities. It just feels like theyâre becoming harder and harder to see past all of the other behaviors.
For all you other parents and (especially) stepparents, how the heck do you do this?
