I've been looking into light alarm clocks and sad lamps, and the theory around them.
To my understanding light therapy ala SAD lamps is based around the idea of being exposed to 10,000 lux in the 50000k to 65000k frequency with intention to avoid UV via filtering the light. If there is additional requirements they haven't appeared in my research.
Lux is a unit for measuring illuminance, the amount of light that hits an area, for a particular surface.
And any calculations I've found state that lux is a product of the lumin of the light and environment the light is in.
As such I am very confused how all the SAD lamps I've seen reference a given lux value and don't also provide a lumin or other metric as well.
Regardless of there effects of light therapy the lamps I'm seeing are raising my bs red flags as it's hiding valid information and heavily pushing an unsubstantiated metric.
If anyone knows what I'm missing or how I would determine the relevant values of the lamps I'm looking at id appreciate it.

As it’s started to get chilly we’ve been burning kiln dried logs from B&Q, but honestly the logs burn quite quickly even with the vent handles pulled out to limit the flow, and don’t warm the space up very much. The room is rather big as it opens up to the dining room, but is there something I’m missing or is this fireplace more decorative and not designed to warm the space much? I recently inherited a 2011 RX350 so naturally I've been trying to do some minor QoL improvements with the next one being the rear camera. The lens on the back of the car is a bit smudged and scratched, leading to the video quality to be pretty bad. I wiped the lens with a microfiber cloth, but it didn't help a whole lot.
So does anyone know if I can just unscrew (or otherwise easily remove) that lens and attach a new one? Or is it a big hassle?

Hello, I would like to ask if my theory about the causes of bile reflux gastritis could be correct. I developed bile reflux gastritis after having my gallbladder removed (although I had it before without realizing it). I am taking UDCA and a prokinetic medication, but unfortunately, they are not helping much. The gastroscopy showed that I have a large amount of bile in my stomach; for some reason, it is refluxing into the stomach. After reading several pages on the topic of gastritis, I came to the following conclusions:
- Bile is alkaline and changes the pH of the stomach to an alkaline state.
- When the stomach pH is not acidic, the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and pylorus do not close properly.
- Because the LES and pylorus are not functioning properly, more and more bile flows into the stomach.
- This creates a vicious cycle – the stomach has a high pH due to bile, bile neutralizes the stomach’s hydrochloric acid, and the problem perpetuates itself.
