2024.11.25 22:00 Ok_Ad6486 Who has the best thing going for food/drink this Thursday? Opinions wanted!
Hey, just a quick ask about Thanksgiving plans in town on Thursday. I'm kinda fixated on food first, so these are some of the options I'm seeing now. But open to others!
Thanksgiving Buffet: The Lazy Goat, Restaurant 17, and Avenue are doing these. What would be the best one?
Eat-in: Patterson's Kitchen, Nosedive, Green Tomato, Urban Wren, Stax, and Passerelle are open with Thanksgiving food. Same question!
Several places are selling mains and sides for pickup... thinking about grabbing some and going to Magnetic South for their brewery potluck. Anyone been/going?
Any combination of these could be great - what does everyone think?

2024.11.25 22:00 Ok-Royal4153 I’m confused….
I’m so confused. Is PN JH? Or how is PN associated with JH? Because today B said all of this is happening because JH went after them from another TT universe. Sorry if it’s a stupid question.

2024.11.25 22:00 SiestaKawaii The past 10 years of my life
Hello!
I have been getting bad reactions to food like; - Bell pepper (e160c) beeing used to color a lot of different foods etc in Norway. It's also for flavour I assume. I also react on different kind of chili's. I have assumed it's the capsisin and capsicum that's doing havoc. To not go to much into details restroom 10-15 times a day. (Nr2). - Onions and garlic giving me massive amounts of gas.
Combination of both is horrible. And a lot of food out there has both. So I do make my own food most of the time, which consist of mostly meats, seafood, veggies and egg.
I also react heavily on gluten especially any type of pasta if I eat a good portion of it. I can for example eat a slice of bread or 2 slices of pizza without reaction but anything more and I get the bloated and gassy feeling aswell. When I est these things I make stuff from scratch and it contains nothing of the 4 previously mentioned veggies so there's got to be something with gluten aswell.
Anyone else got similar issues with many trips to the toilet I'd you just get a tiny piece of bell pepper in your food?

2024.11.25 22:00 bruh_man_142 The Value of Flaws and Variety in Worldbuilding
As a heads up, I hope this doesn't come off as too negative, this is more of a love letter to what I like about Warcraft, and what I don't seem to see in modern Warcraft.
When it comes to making an interesting world that feels lived in, creating diverse peoples and species with their own traditions, faiths, and worldviews is, in my opinion, one of the most important things about making a world believable. Not "realistic" geography, logistics and politics, especially so in high fantasy. Of course, depending on the medium, each of these different pieces of making a world can be more important than the other, and in most video games the world exists to be immersive for the player, to make them forget that they are, in fact, not a cool orc riding an armored wolf across rocky canyons.
Azeroth used to feel like that kind of world, a world that was inhabited by diverse, and ultimately flawed people, fighting for their survival and what they uphold in an often hostile world. That's what the world felt like when The Alliance and The Horde was recovering after The Third War, with many adventurers across the world fighting localized threats: The Scarlet Crusade, whose twisted fanaticism was perpetuated by a demon's manipulation; The Defias Brotherhood, an organization supposedly fighting against injustice yet mercilessly oppressing the innocents of Westfall; unapologetically xenophobic Grimtotem tauren; warlike Gordunni ogres in the ruins of an ancient elven city and so on and so on. The player character felt like a small part of a complex world, and more epic journeys like The Scepter of The Shifting Sands questline was basically comprised of many smaller adventures across Azeroth. (Not to say that state of the world/lore was ideal, questionable moments and inconsistencies are a given in the earlier days)
The peoples of Azeroth felt more diverse then, with the more morally grey and somewhat imperialistic Alliance in opposition to the more traditionally warlike Horde, and the unspoken similarities between the factions was also a thing I adored.
To add to that, many amazing cultures and factions with differing worldviews have been added to Azeroth and Draenor, and the combined cast really makes the setting feel alive: The greedy and hedonistic goblins, who view charity as a moral flaw; Progressivist gnomes, who are so intent on not looking back at the past that they almost do not have any historical records; the casually, and occasionally spiritually, cannibalistic troll tribes; the intensely brutal centaur; the gender stratification of pre-third war Kaldorei; proud and magic-addicted elves of Quel'thalas; the pragmatist, element-enslaving taunka; relentlessly warlike mogu, enforcing Order through subjugation; the humble and kind-hearted pandaren, who have to live apart from negative emotions and dark thoughts, lest they and their community are consumed by the dark spirits of the land; the entire mantid society; the secretive outcasts and the fundamentalist adherents of the arakkoa; the various orc clans of Draenor, from noble hunters to spiritual astrologists; the savage and horrific society of the matriarchal blood trolls; the- Alright I'll stop there.
Some factions are always our enemies, some are our temporary allies, but most of them have a special quirk that makes them stand out. (the forgettable factions are, obviously, forgotten). The way of life and worldview of goblins and orcs, both playable races on the same faction, are completely different, and that's great. A night elf and a gnome might never agree on what's important in the world, and that's normal.
Now it feels like every character from every background is accepting of everything and following a worldview that "we should be doing good things, because bad things are bad and goodness is good and badness is bad". People, communities, societies can change, and they can change for the good and the really bad, but not in the span of 20 or so years that WoW's story has been going on, and especially not in a 3 year time skip before DF when the sameness and blandness became REALLY apparent.
The centaur of the Dragon Isles feel more like tauren, and the hatred Baine holds towards them evaporated over the course of a single zone's story. The ancient marking tradition of all night elves changed because Maiev said 'we have to change'. The 'chemical warfare enthusiasts and cannibalism as a racial' faction feel uniquely aimless in the story now.
Good, kind, etc. people exist. Kind-hearted peoples exist on Azeroth (see Pandaren, Tuskarr). But when everyone, including the Forsaken and the dragon start speaking and acting like a pandaren, their societies also lose what makes them memorable.
It feels like only the villains are allowed to have flaws and amoral characteristics in their societies, and even then they are occasionally removed when said villains somehow become our allies. Like the world conquering demons responsible for an immeasurable amount of suffering across the universe becoming lawful good "Penitents". In general, a group of people becoming our allies now means losing what made them unique. Earthen having a somewhat rigid societal structure? Good thing they realized it's bad and they can live like everyone else now. I really hope Goblins don't lose their greedy nature, that which makes them goblins, after we defeat the big bad goblin leader and the good goblin leader reprograms the mindset of the entire goblin society.
A flawless world, where everyone is good and there are no even slightly morally questionable viewpoints and traditions, is much like a Mary Sue: bland, shallow and uninteresting. A world with no problems beyond unquestionably evil forces trying to destroy is not particularly believable, and a world that is not believable finds it hard to be immersive.
TL;DR: The flaws and conflicting viewpoints in Warcraft's societies are not a bad thing, as they make the world feel more alive. Making everyone moral paragons destroys the believability of a setting.

2024.11.25 22:00 NobleK42 Is Travis Fimmel a diverse actor?
I actually like Travis Fimmel, but I had previously only seen him in Vikings, Warcraft and Raised by Wolves. I just started watching Dune Prophecy, and every time I see him I cannot help but think that, with the exception of Warcraft, he might as well be playing the same character. Is it just a coincidence or is it just what he can realistically play? Of course, he could just be offered those similar roles because he plays them well. And yes, I realize that I have only seen a fraction of his body of work, but this is arguably what he is known for. submitted by NobleK42 to moviecritic [link] [comments] |

2024.11.25 22:00 JeffIsMowingTheLawn What type of herbicide will get rid of Chicory?
Chicory (Cichorium intybus) is often considered a weed, particularly in pastures and disturbed areas. Its aggressive growth and ability to thrive in various conditions can lead to it outcompeting desirable forage and crops, making it a concern for farmers and gardeners alike.
In terms of growth habit, chicory is a perennial herb that can grow up to 4 feet tall. It produces a deep taproot, which helps it access moisture and nutrients from deeper soil layers, allowing it to flourish even in less favorable conditions. The plant has a rosette form in its early stages, eventually sending up hollow stems with numerous branching flowers.
Chicory's appearance distinguishes it from other plants. It features bright blue flowers that bloom from summer to fall, though white and pink varieties exist. The leaves are lance-shaped and often have a serrated edge, forming a rosette at the base. The plant has a coarse texture and can be quite bushy, which contributes to its vigorous growth.
As for climate suitability, chicory thrives in temperate regions and can tolerate a range of environmental conditions. It prefers full sun but can also grow in partial shade. This adaptability allows it to spread across various landscapes, from roadsides to fields.
In terms of soil preference, chicory favors well-drained, fertile soils, but it can also grow in poor, compacted soils. It performs best in slightly acidic to neutral pH levels, typically between 6.0 and 7.5. However, its deep-rooted nature enables it to survive in diverse soil types.
For those looking to control chicory, consider using Triad Select 3-Way Herbicide, which effectively targets this persistent weed without harming desirable plants.

2024.11.25 22:00 lylanthia Bambu Studio Issue
Hello, I'm trying to load in a model with many parts, in order to print it all at once.
2 weeks ago I was using the Linux version of Bambu Studio, and when I added the base of the model, and then right clicked to add part, it would pop it in in the right spot.
Now when I do it it drops it on the build plate. I cannot for the life of me remember if there was a setting to change this or what it is I'm missing or how to fix it.
I'm printing a complex renamon model for a friend and I broke the final result and don't have a 3mf of it saved.
Any assistance would be very welcome as I don't want to spend hours lining up the model perfectly to only have it error during printing.

2024.11.25 22:00 crf2 RPi 4 upgrade to 1.2.2 not mounting external SSD
I recently upgraded my RPi Umbrel on 0.5 to 1.2.2 by reflashing the SD card based on the RPi instructions on the website. I did switch to a slightly larger SD card, but no other hardware was changed. Once I rebooted into the new version, I created an account with the same user name and password as the prior install.
When I check the 'Settings' app, it is only reporting the storage on the SD card. But the widgets do see the full external SSD drive storage. However all the apps are trying to just use the SD card.
Is there something I need to do to have Umbrel mount the external drive? (I don't recall doing this on the previous version, but it's been awhile.)
