2024.11.25 22:50 qaxv Is there really a reason for the dryer vent to not go straight out?

Non-English speaking parents took delivery of washer and dryer on my behalf when I want home. The pipe is right behind the dryer. This installation not only looks counter intuitive but rather hazardous from the potential clogging no? I should just the cut the vent pipe or get something shorter to connect directly should I?

I know there are a bajillion posts out there on this topic, but I'm looking into the ones my insurance covers and there are multiple wearables this time around. I'm going to go with one of the free options because I already have the Spectra S1 and S2 models to fall back on (and will probably use the blue one to help keep milk flow up since I was not a good producer last time). I know the wearable probably won't do as good of a job, but I have a very active 2.5yr old and I won't be able to sit and chill out on my phone and pump like I did when I had him so whatever I can do to maximize my pumping time while multitasking would be helpful. I don't want flanges hanging off because I don't want him messing with them and I'd like to be able to stay more covered when walking around home.
I also have a large bust so I don't know if that changes things much (38DDD before pregnancy and they're larger now, just haven't gone bra shopping yet). Do they leak more with larger breasts?

*Bonus points if they're easy to clean since we don't have a dishwasher and already spend way more time handwashing crap than I'd like.

I’m 16 years old and from the United States, so the majority of this post, if not all of it, will be about what goes on here.
It is absolutely miserable here and I don’t understand how people who turn a blind eye to major issues in the country they are oh so proud of can’t see that everything that’s going on here will affect them too. Nobody is free in a nation where others are oppressed.
I live in a small town, just over 10,000 people to our name. And in this small town there has been multiple attempted shootings. I have sat locked in a room for hours while we had no information about what was happening. The police started showing up and kids started talking. Parents tried to take their kids home and were told no with no other information.
There have been notices of kids bring guns to school with intentions to shoot multiple times and I have barely like here 4 years. Outside of the schools kids are killing themselves. Parents having to come home to their kids lifeless on the floor. There are signs all over the school for suicide prevention, crisis hotlines on the IDs, and none of it fucking matters.
I was hospitalized for a week due to person reasons regarding mental health. I was going to therapy weekly and taking meds. And the schools response was to try and take away credit for medical leave. I’m lucky to have had the grades to support myself making it through the year and able to graduate on time, but others aren’t. So many others.
I’m not unmedicated and not attending therapy due to the unaffordable prices. Previously everything was covered by insurance, but losing it meant losing everything else. One refill of one of my medications would have cost over $1,000. Therapy would have been thousands for my constant need to attend. Hospital visits would be thousands of dollars. A simple checkup on a wound that couple potentially get infected to a dangerous level would have been over $1,000.
As for the funding for my school it is not there. There are roofs that leak water, floors that are falling apart, gas leaks, unfit regulations for safety, but you know who does have everything they need? The athletics team, and that’s where all the funding is going.
The teachers who are underpaid and overworked and who have to deal with kids that regularly insult, cause damage, and cause a disruption in their class don’t get anything. Most teachers barely know what to do since they are teaching classes they aren’t meant to teach. Some teachers get told what they’re teaching days before the first day with no aid.
And the teachers from other places are terrified of losing their jobs and not being able to support their families while the principal makes it a requirement for students in programs that are meant to aid their future buy stuff for them. Promises of aid and support are broken and seemingly forgotten and it leads for staff and students to both suffer.
Kids aren’t getting educated either. At home or in schools. There is no critical thinking nor any encouragement for it. Parents let their children disrupt classes and enforce negative ideals.
And if you’re anything but a straight, cis, white, republican christian? Well sucks to be you. No funding, no support, no help in the mental health department, no nothing. In the near future kids will get protections under Title IX revoked. The education system will further fall and fail anyone who doesn’t fall under the previously mentioned box. Hate and discrimination will not only spike, but be encouraged.
There are people here who hold up signs that say women are property and that homo sex is a sin among other completely disgusting things. Living here is fucking miserable. Nobody should have to go out on the street and wonder if that day is finally the day something horrible happens, let alone children.
If you are struggling in any way, you’re fucked. If you’re different in any way, you’re fucked. And if you think that just because you’re not those things that you’re alright? You’re wrong. If they can do it to the people you believe are wrong, then it’s only so much time till you fall under that too. You’re fucked. I’m fucked. And I hate it.
This is going on all over the nation, and I’ve only mentioned a small little slice of what’s wrong and why it’s so scary. Nobody should feel unsafe, let alone for something they can’t control, and let alone children.

My dad called me the r-slur to my face and wonders why I don't have a job yet. I don't know, maybe because the last time I asked for resume help you just said "it's so easy so just do it yourself"? He then said some shit like "just tell yourself 'I am not dumb, I am not stupid, I am normal' and you'll become it" like it constitutes as advice. This piece of shit and his wife have repeatedly said I'm slow and making them look bad to their friends, then said "You're in charge of your own self esteem, not us. Good luck!"
A part of me says "I just have to say I'm not dumb and stupid and maybe I'll be more confident and become normal," but doing so feels like lying to myself. The two biggest influences in my life constantly make me feel like I'm the worst thing that's happened to them. Plus, how can I be the "normal" around them that they want? I don't feel like I can be happy in their presence, because whenever I have a smile on my face they hostilely ask me "WHY ARE YOU SMILING?" Their gaze make me feel like answering anything but them is unsafe.
I'm currently beating myself up. Even though I've been to a literal job hunting office, I hate myself because I feel like I haven't put much effort.
